I've said many times, Stoke brought in Beattie and Etherington for a combined £4.5m. in January. Look what that has done for them. He needn't have spent 20-30m, £5m invested properly, would've lifted us out of this mess. Demanding the Given payment upfront and tacking on £5m of his own and a couple of shrews buys as you point out would have made a world of difference. Whenever I see him on my Chinese telly he's rubbing his hands and grinning like a dunce. I still think a making him play FM for a couple of hours might have saved us.
