I'd be quite happy with a relatively immobile but experienced striker and someone in midfield with a bit of pace. A lot's made of how difficult it is to get out of the Championship, but a fairly simple approach and a couple of sensible buys should put paid to most of the bottom half at least. It's only if we rest on our laurels that we'll be screwed beyond belief. Need some muscle in mf for the Championship.

Needs sorting so whoever is in charge can get on with the massive amount of work that is needed. If Shearer is being 'wide of the mark' and there's absolutely no way Ashley can accept his demands then surely it'd be in the best interests of all to cut ties and move on to find whoever it is who will be trying to lead us in the championship. They've had a week and surely that's enough to iron out the finer points. My fear is that they're poles apart on what's acceptable and Ashley is persevering with trying to find an agreement as he fears the backlash from us. Or Shearer's lawyers are ensuring that the contract reflects the agreed discussions around what the club needs financially and who will take the decisions (having learnt from the Keegan fiasco) making it a highly complex legal document? Perhaps, could be a lot of things. AS is more head than heart. Makes sense.

There's quite a few clubs round that way on a level with them. Kingstonian for one who are practically on their doorstep. It's a credit to them IMO that they do follow their very local clubs rather than head for the big boys. I guess it's akin to us supporting Gateshead, Blyth, Whitley Bay or Blue Star rather than Newcastle United. It wasn't really a dig or anything but I couldn't really suss out why the people who went when they were in the top flight or whatever supported them. Seemed like a lot of middle class JCL amongst the few I encountered. They averaged 23,000 on year. I view them as at least the size of Fulham potential. They draw their support from places like Purley, Morley, Kingston, Richmond etc... ...Sutton and Croydon.

I'm guessing Boro, Sheff U, Reading and WBA will be the main contenders.

I would love it, love it.....If we managed to get rid of ALL the crap, atrracted some decent young to mid 20's players with heart that would be proud to pull on the shirt.
