There is no left in America and there is barely any kind of left in the UK. As the global game gets tougher there will be no place for the left in the near future. The left have failed because over the years the have decamped to the center without understanding that it was already taken by the right. The Clinton's and Obama's of this world sold the Democrats to Corporatism long ago. The left just forgot who they were fighting and are bogged down with identity politics, gender politics and green issues. None of which the true elite actually give a fuck about. That isn't wholly true because they plan to make a killing from Carbon trading at some point. Let's see what happens in France. When I look around I don't see many properly functioning democracies. UK is heading to a one party state.

It's what won them the campaign. He would try different one liners in debates and broach various talking points only to work out what was working. They are always looking for 'kill shots'. They will have already worked out the 'immigration thing' will play out well among their support and wider America. It doesn't matter to them what the hip kids in LA think or what the reception is in the capitals of Europe. He's already said the EU is shit and Merkel is a clown. Trump had a much smaller team than Clinton so they honed everything down to its bear bones and often one thing at a time 'Low energy Bush' etc...

You lot are too fixated on Trump. Current strategy flow is to throw a lot of stuff up in the air (distractions) and the Trump camp are very good at it. Keeps a flux of nonsense going while they find what hits and what doesn't. They research what comes back and continually re-plot the course. All these tweets and things are part of that strategy - they are reality testing. They are giving you things to discuss...It's always emotive and cuts out the logic circuits. There will be teams diving the data on what holds up and what can be dropped.

I was more terrified about going to war with Russia over Syria. The only thing that stopped that was a vote in our Parliament which diminished the American appetite - remember Obama was talking 'red lines' at the time.

They are cleaning the decks because they deem that much of the embedded legacy bureaucracy will be working against them. The Trump camp will be under siege for some months (and paranoid) until they can work out who is who and trust issues and so on.. This isn't a normal handover as you know. Much of the deep state will be against Trump (not on the immigration issues) but as far as foreign policy, trade deals and reconfiguration of the posture of America which is happening 'on the hoof'. Trump with no experience will be taking advice on nearly everything and it is a steep learning curve. Part of the reason he picked so many nutters is that they will have to stand up to the insiders as time goes on if real policy changes are to me made (campaign promises with reg to trade deals and no more wars and reducing unemployment). The immigration thing is a marquee issue and by no means will it be the scene of the first serious battle against the Globalists and their henchmen within the Corporate world. Unpicking or re-balancing the trade deals will be the site of the first real engagement. Not mentioning the Jews specifically is a silly stand to make with reg to the other matter and I can't imagine what is gained by that. Trump and his battle group understand they are under fire. But the real power has yet to show its hand (perhaps he might be of some use after all). America has been slipping into a police state since 9/11 and the Patriot Act and the Homeland Security apparatus. This is a defining moment in the history of the world.

The simple fact is that Labour are in no position to fight for peoples rights at the moment and should be pulling out all the stops to remain under the EU social contract and other freedoms. The Tories are looking to erode all sorts of things once out. The Neo-Lib financial policies of the EU and the corporate power that has usurped part of it is a battle for a later date.

The main problems we have with Trump is that Bush2 and Obama crossed so many red lines with reg to oversight that as HF says he's a bit like a kid in a toy shop.

The carry on at Davos is as far fetched and detached from reality of normal lives as one could get without visiting Disneyland. Career politicians with idealistic speeches (written by think tanks and PR people) that will never be acted on.

The free trade deals need looking at it has cost America millions of jobs and transformed entire cities back to the third world. The immigration initiative is needed because all sides agree America has an immigration problem with hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants undercutting the labour market. All Republicans clamp down on abortions not just Trump. The Mexican Wall was a campaign promise and he won partly on the back of that. The Nazi Germany thing is a far fetched cliche. How is he a demagogue when the key policy will have to get through Congress and be watched over by the Senate? Again meaningless hyperbole from you... I do however totally disagree with the torture issue. He is plain wrong about that. And it is completely unethical.

Revolution happens when there is no milk and bread in the shops. I'm watching closely how far he gets with dismantling the trade deals....

Corporate power it entrenched. I've always said that the next revolution will happen in America. Till then all these initiatives will falter against a wall of money and self-interest.
