Butch and Sundance with half the Mexican army surrounding them... "Is LeFleurs out there? Did you see LeFleurs".. "No".. "Great I thought we were in trouble for a moment there.." -
Martins,Lua Lua, Bassong and a few other toon players all in Tup Tup Palace last night. I managed to sneak into the VIP and have a chat with Martins, hes clearly off because I was talking to him about training and stuff and as soon as I asked him if he was staying he just put his head down and turned his face and started talking to Lua Lua who by this time was standing on a table dancing , he walked past like 10 mins after that and I asked him again and he just didnt say anything. Funny how a few months ago, before we got relegated, I asked him if we were gonna stay up and if he was gonna stay and he was like "yeah yeah we are always gonna be a Premier League club" blah blah. Also managed to get a few words in with Bassong, hes a fucking cunt to be honest with you, proper fucking moody, and just wasnt interested in talking about football. Should have asked him how he does that blasting it over the bar from 10 yards trick.

As for the bit in bold, it'll most likely anger some of you but in honesty he's absolutely spot on. That was our problem IMO - not that Owen wasn't performing, he just wasn't getting the service. Agree.

Yeah, a friend of mine was saying Ashley will probably wait till as late as possible, flog everyone possible, pocket the money and leave no time to buy any new players! Probably take the toilet paper with him as well.

I've never said we haven't put bits of metal on the moon, but there remains something fishy about Apollo 11 (men walking on the moon). We've put bits of metal on Mars and will soon on Europa, flinging bits of metal into space isn't really hard.

143. In the "Visor" photo, Aldrin's shadow directs at the front of him, thou on his reflection it goes back. Pretty optically impossible, isn't it? Posted by Felipe MÈndez July 16, 09 12:36 PM

Kelmsley told him to buy it and apparently told him he could make money from it.

Wtf is a forensic accountant?

I disagree. Big cheques----->big expectations----->no patience and he's already had his period of grace last season. I'd expect them to take the same approach as Abramovich....the only question is whether he'll get as long as Christmas if it's not going well. imho of course. Think he'll last the season out personally, after that the decision will be made depending on where they finish. He has said that the requirement is top 6, I think they'll do that no probs. Just need a couple of defenders, they have the 2nd best keeper in the league already.

What are the odds on you getting relegatedahhh?

It's more like the taps and sink. Pud posted in another thread that it appears he's already subdivided the garage and backyard into another company. Fuck I hate Ashley. Must have. It's well within him MO.

I'll call The Profitable Group.

I'm not weighing behind their bid or anything like that, i just disagree that a conglomerate of 15 business divisions, with retail brands in each division markets themselves like that. It goes against every rule of channel marketing. I'm only going on my experience of working in and with marketing, not because i have a view on this lot in paticular. The first question has to be 'why'. In the bit i've highlighted you talk about looking to expand their portfolio, so why use a generic umbrella of the investment group when they sell actual brands. If they are not looking to sell their consumer brands but actually get into football ownership, it doesnt make a lot of sense to say their PR over 'getting into football ownership' is just PR, since thats the whole objective. Or are you saying this is to raise their profile as agents of footballers? Again, i'd say PR associated with handling players would be more effective. i'm not convinced either way, just highlighting things that seem illogical to me. I think the easy ans is that they don't know what they are doing. Look at the website ffs!! They're not actually even property developers, just space acquisition merchants.

Some thoughts on this, as obviously got no clue about this lot at all. The profitable 'brand' itself isnt in the retail sector, so they have nothing to gain from exposure of the brand in highly visible consumer media. If they had something to sell then you might be right but what they have to sell, according to their website, is expertise in these sorts of deals. Are you proposing that this a practice run for a later deal in football, as that would be the only reason for doing this that would make sense. Which in itself doesnt make a lot of sense. If you know marketing, you'd find the idea that an investment firm wanting the investment firm's name known through outles like the Chronicle or The Sun is laughable. Take for example The Profitable Group's Property Division and its Villas in Phuket. Do you think placing an article (in the Chronicle for example ) that exposes the Profitable group's name as an investment house will draw attention to their property services or instead do you think a carefully placed ad next to a paid for story about Phuket in a travel magazine might be better? Think about it. If they want to buy a football club, they will bid for one. They wouldnt bid for it so they can sell more cigars, Thomas Pink shirts, red wine etc (seriously, thats what they sell in Malaysia). PP's post is funny but its view of the business world is a bit warped. I love Thomas Pink shirts. PS They've got little of no money, so not sure what you're on about. They have gained positioning in the national media (Times, Guardian, Telegraph) with this club sale tie in it doesn't really matter if they're in the Croydon gazette or whatever. Who knows the mind of Steve McMahon I certainly don't. Source for the first bit of that to justify the second bit is...? I'm just trying to analyse whether they are serious and whether claiming this is just PR has any credibillity. Not that its that important to be clear on these thing of course He's been caught in the teleporter but if he gets out he'll tell us...

City in for Lescott. "City have decided to test Everton’s resolve to hang on to centre-back Lescott. Goodison manager David Moyes declared at a shareholders’ meeting that “no players” would leave the club but City are confident that a substantial offer is likely to prove too tempting for Moyes as he tries to sign Sheffield United full-back Kyle Naughton and Standard Liege captain Steven Defour. Mark Hughes, the City manager, balked at the £20 million demanded by the Merseyside club for Lescott earlier in the summer, but Hughes is keen to pair him with John Terry. City remain hopeful that a deal can be agreed to sign the England captain from Chelsea, despite statements to the contrary from the London club. City have been led to believe that Terry wishes to hear their proposals and are expected to return with an improvement on their earlier £30 million offer." Telegraph.

I can see the players cracking if this goes on for another week or two.
