  1. Stumping up money for membership and giving money to actual make the club owned by the supporters are two very different things. Poor comparison. People are also forgetting some will give more and institutions in the area could give large amounts to build a relationship with the club (they would still only get one vote). It’s a better comparison than Barca, who represent a very large politically distinct region with its own language and a history of state sponsored oppression. It’s only in the last few years Barca have accepted shirt sponsorship. NUST can’t even bring themselves to organise a protest about the renaming of our ground. I fully support the idea of supporters buying a stake in the club, but talk of raising a grand total of £300m a year after they were formed is madness. NUST are trying to fly to the moon before they can walk. Their credibility will be shot if this fails, and looking at the cold hard facts strongly suggests it will fail. I’ll await the full details before making a final judgement, but based on the information here I'm far from convinced. Simple answer is don't bother with it then.

  3. Bet the no.15 is quite something in bed.
  4. For me I could find the 2.5k by just giving up smoking.
  5. Developments throughout the region in conjunction with the club would also qualify for EU money if the money was for academies or access centres for sport and other social side benefits. Regeneration through sport is well recognised by EU mutual funds as a way of regeneration and job creation.
  6. I don't think there is any core correlation between supporter ownership and pride and the need for immediate success on the pitch.
  7. Correct. Barca's key relationships are with the banks and the pride of the local region. At a rough guess, regardless of ownership or buying a share in the club we could count on a worldwide membership of around 100,000 at least - although this would take 2/3 years to mature. Once people see the benefits of initially owning a share of the club (voting rights for a president/ rebates in season ticket price etc), other avenues of brand loyalty through membership rather than ownership can develop in the short to medium term.
  8. I agree it all seems far fetched and the organisation and commitement of thousands is something that doesn't happen often these days as so many people are so apathetic etc..But this is a unique moment and feelings are running high.
  9. The second tranche of investment comes form a worldwide membership scheme. Also the PR knock on benefits in the branding marketplace would be an immense advantage as we would be unique in the PL.
  10. It will take time, but it will happen imo. It is the only club in England where it could actually work. The building of a takeover fund doesn't acutally need to start with large individual commitments, we can start building it with smaller amounts to begin with and the moementum will grow. Make sure presidents are up for re-election every 3 years and no more.
  11. ...basically are your exotic tinkerings on the periphery actually going to make them any money. Everything else is bullshit.
  12. Let loose the dogs of war. I really hate all this kind of shit that goes on in companies.
  13. "Thank god Liverpool aren't actually mathematically eliminated yet. This gives the most naiive of their fans (i.e. roughly 50% of Liverpool) a false sense of hope and me the satisfaction of watching them when the red ship does finally go under. ;-) "
  14. Thanks for your kind words. I know already how hard it will be, sometimes when we are playing together and laughing I am already fearing the silence there will be when I'm back in England. Without a doubt this will be the hardest test I have ever faced and I must re-learn who I am and try and find some hapiness again.
  15. fwiw everything in moderation is just a rationalization, take ownership of that joint or line or capsule IMO however, we have had certain certain drugs branded as BAD by arms of various governments without really knowing. McGill university has just started to do experimentations with Psyllocibin, in a blind study 50 people were given the drug and 50 more were given a placebo. Nearly all the people given the psyllocibin reported having a religious like experience whose effects lasted far after the drug would have left their bodies. All I'm saying is if someone used LSD once or twice, or mushrooms once or twice, of smoked a joint once or twice....and completely lost the plot, there is a good chance there was a preexisting problem with the wiring...IMO The Nancy Reagan era delineation of what drugs are bad and what are acceptable needs to be edited......again, IMHO I will always fondly remember those mushroom tea weekends and how relaxing and revealing they were. IMO LSD isn't really good for you, but a light shroom tea taken with friends is splendid.
  16. Or advertising, or employment law, or public relations... I know man, what a complete and utter fiasco.
  17. Ditto. Used to be a drug dealers pub iirc back in the day. I can only wince at the thought of what these two were eating in there. Waiter: Oi! BLACK COUPLE fancy some jerk chicken wings on the side??!!
  18. In Islington of all places.
  19. It might help to have someone who knows about football on the board.
