I remember when North Sea Oil started coming ashore (76ish?) and it being proclaimed that worldwide oil would run out in about 2020. Obviously that doesn't take into account reserves discovered since or even in the future but I think replacing the need is a better idea than scrambling around hunting down the last few barrels. I've often tried to pin down a rough estimate of when oil will go, but it seems impossible. They say the new fields in Eastern Europe/Russia are huge.

What do you think these new sources will be? not a new source i guess but the green party is advocating Nuclear as a short term solution

So called green alternatives...ha ha Made from the Earth's most abundant substance -- sand -- polysilicon is tricky to manufacture. It requires huge amounts of energy, and even a small misstep in the production can introduce impurities and ruin an entire batch. The other main challenge is dealing with the waste. For each ton of polysilicon produced, the process generates at least four tons of silicon tetrachloride liquid waste.

Absolutely agree with that. Regardless of climate change we will run out of fossil fuels and face an unimaginable energy crisis. Oh, and the bees are all dying too so we will starve to death. When will we run out of fossil fuels?

It's like when they admitted tap water was better than most bottled waters, that butter was better than margerine, that fat stored vitamins, that there actually is water on the moon.........

If we killed all the pets in the UK we'd reach our Co2 tagets for the decade.

Despite being very pro-science, I do think that the "we'll be fucked by 2050" lobby have gone too far but thats probably due to needing to get politicians to act. If they were perhaps honest and said "there will be serious changes within 200 years" then the chances of action would be lost. I still hope to see a clean replacement for oil in worldwide use in my lifetime - I think that's the key. I think 'scientists' have run out of things to 'panic' about, so are looking at this as one last big payday. Confrenece in Hawaii anyone?? ha ha

Coming from the man who thinks HIV is a scam to sell antiviral drugs iirc? Do you seriously think all the world's climatologists (or the vast majority of them) are in on it? Yes, Its the only way most of them can get funded. No one is saying putting bad stuff in the air is good, but mankinds contribution combimed with pollutants released via volcanoes, the sea and the like is miniscule. Also the scare mongering has been ridiculous. Agreed.

It's all made up. New scam to sell us all the things we already have again.

Love the way people have bought into this media driven Rio claptrap.

What concerns me about the Aussies is the lack of pace and lack of youth in the squad. Kewell would have to be the quickest yet he may play lone-man striker as there are obvious lack of options there. One things for sure under Pim Verbeek, there won't be many goals scored as much as there won't be many goals conceded by his team. If the Aussies make it out of the group stages it'll be job well done in my opinion. This WC could be one of the dullest in recent memory tbh. England, Switzerland, Italy, France, Greece, NK, SK, South Africa... the list just goes on, not exactly teams that swarm and look for goals, and the Argies under Maradona are an absolute shambles; no tactics and no shape. I know very little of the African sides but at least they'll have a go. It'll all come down to momentum and if the Krauts build up theirs, then I see them taking it out. Spain are a real chance too. You know if you type "clueless cunts talking shit about a sport they have no clue about" in speech marks, does toontastic come up???? England and I quote "not exactly a team that swarms and looks for goals", what a country that scored THIRTY FOUR, six more than anyone else, in fuckin qualifying. A country who scored NINE in TWO games against another country who were then ranked SIXTH in the world, who hadn't lost a meaningful game at home in 15 years, yet we went there and won 1-4. Oh dear. Honest to god I don't expect people to be statistically as accurate as John Motson but this cunt fuck me. The most pleasing thing about the Capello era is the amount of goals we now score, I'm ashamed to be a Newcastle fan sometimes for what the first Keegan era has brung us. Fans from around the world who haven't got a clue, and fans from around Britain and Ireland who haven't got a clue, sometimes I'd have the Ossie Ardiles days back me. There are many things you should be ashamed of you sloth, the way you carry on. You are a wanker, a funny wanker though I'll give you that. My comment wasn't statistically based. I just watch England and nothing excites me about them. I am glad that offends you though. What amuses me, apart from your never ending errant comments about everything, anything and nothing, Stevie, is the traditional beating of the drums of victory by the English media who are completely unaware of the other competing nations before it all starts and during the tournaments, and when they fall by the wayside as they invariable do every time, they can't work out why. Everything is to be blamed except an obvious lack of class. Just for the record, I think England will make the last sixteen maybe even the last eight with a bit of luck, and they will average something like 1.4 goals per game. Anything higher than that and I will be truly flabbergasted! England are playing some of the most controlled football I've ever seen them play. They will get to the final.

This is our best chance to win since Italia 90 imo.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if one of those won it. It's surprising how often sides that are written off are the ones who come good later in tournaments. I fucking hope I'm wrong on that score like. Being sensible France really should be in pot two if you take into account the way they stuttered to qualification. Think it takes into account previous WCs too though. Or it used to. Points used to be given (weighting) for the last three tournaments on a sliding scale, not sure if they still do that.
-
Arg and Fra have to be in pot one, there really is no debate about that. Chile in pot 2 fair enough on recent form. Hosts in Two in this instance as they are pretty much shit.
-
Back on topic. What will the seeding/rankings be? IMHO they should be: Pot 1: England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Cameroon Pot 2: Australia, USA, Mexico, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ghana, Argentina Pot 3: Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Denmark, France, Portugal, Slovakia, Uruguay Pot 4: South Africa, Algeria, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Greece, Slovakia, Honduras, New Zealand I think this sums up why it will never be a first class sport there too, when a genuine fan of the game comes up with the above. Some beauties in there. Chile seeded above Argentina, Cameroon seeded two pots above 2006 finalists France, regular Asian Cup Winners Korea, and 2004 European Champions Greece, seeded below first time entrancees Slovakia. Oh dear. I have to say this: Stevie you ignorant, brainless cunt - it's not about the last WC or who won what back in the day, it's about current form and rankings. See that's why you will be never be anything other than an clueless, opinionated, pathetic excuse for a human. You sure you don't work for FIFA? They change the process every other World Cup you arsehole. As for the FIFA rankings basing the seedings on them has been done before, but they're so dated it's not true. I mean about 6 years ago they had USA ranked 6th I think, they had to alter them, they did, but as was pointed out the ELO rankings are more accurate. Also in previous WC's the host automatically is a top seed you tool, as is the PREVIOUS winner of the competition. As for current form, Greece have been in two of the last three tournaments winning one, their current form is excellent and they're well above Slovakia in the seedings, stick to watching Geelong and fuckin Wollagong Wolves.

"Watch aht 'Olmes, 'es gotta Shoota" "Thanks Watson me old mucka, I was nearly brown bread. Let's go dahn the apples and pears and get that slag Moriarty." "Ya know 'Olmes, sahmtoimes I wish I was a Gangsta, and then people would respect me." "Maybe you will in the next Guy Ritchie film." Words cannot quantify how underwhelmed I am at this film. Guy Ritchie is a truely shit director, and Jude Law is almost Steven Segal in terms of woodeness and general shitness. Even an Olsen twins film would be better than this. What little talent Ritchie had, that witch Madonna sucked out of him. -
Reminds me of the manbag fiasco thread...

I wondered if he really was pals with Ashley...

I'll take a wild guess...He is one of MA's gang and was only pretending to buy the club and he and MA were in cahoots all along.....And now he is taking the edge off the naming drama by saying he'd consider it as well. -
I'm liking the Simpson. Quite nippy and looks like he's good for the odd goal as well. Good age. You fucking what? Who do you think you are, June Sarpong? We'll have no T4 speak on here thank you very much. Is that the hot one?
