Depends how you define a big club, as you say historically they're probably the biggest bar none but Man United. Their crowds don't do their history justice though. And whatever your reasons for disliking scousers Stevie (and the others who do), what would you rather see, a club be successful on the basis of modest resources and good management, or a club be successful on the back of billions of foreign investment from some Arab or dodgy Russian? Football will be worse off if Liverpool make way for the likes of Man city imo. Not that it will directly affect us any time soon. I'll tell you something right now, if some Oligarch bought us tomorrow pledging to sign Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi, I wouldn't think twice about the morality of it all. Shankly brought Liverpool success and that brought a snow ball effect. They were largely a nothing club before Shankly, but all this "buying success" it all got levelled at Blackburn, complete double standards when you think Liverpool (always spent more than all bar Man Utd in the late 70's, 80's and early 90's), which is exactly what Man City are doing now, regardless where the money is coming from. I would not shed one tear if Liverpool ceased to exist, they're a bunch of arrogant, fuckwits, from your Norwegian plastic red, to your retired bit part former player. They're a scummy club with Britain's scummiest support, anything bad which happens to that club is welcomed (other than death) as far as I'm concerned. I can't think of anything I like about the club, the area or scousers collectively, you do meet some who are really decent people, but collectively up their own arse self pitying cunts. Someone once said and there's an element of truth in it, that once you've spoken to one you've spoken to them all. As for this big club thing, historically they'll always be a big club due, to the trophies they won in the 60's, 70's and 80's, and will have a worldwide fanbase. However, like I say they're the most fickle supports in world football, 30,000 under Houllier, they win the CL and they now have a waiting list. THREE seasons outside the top four would see their fanbase evapourate to 2003 levels once again. Their support, can not, will not and ever can be compared to ours. We were a far stronger club than them in principle just 6 years ago, but we fucked it up, and they fluked it up, 14 defeats in 38 league games yet they win the Champions League, they're the luckiest club there is on this earth. I respect Man Utd and even Arsenal, I can't ever respect them. I will never forget that 'chicken foetus' saga a few years ago, wakes, marches, sympathy drinks had all been organised for the 'baby foetus'...A whoe town was ready to wallow in an epic weekend of self pity and arse scratching. I used to say the same about Andy Cole and heading - coaches have a lot to answer for imo. He's 26, not 14. It's a bit late to be ironing out basic flaws like that. He plays like a converted full/wing back. That's where I'd play him anyway. Bring the ball out a bit and give it to the wide man to cross etc..

I know but we all know your understanding of the game. We played well in almost every group game, we played brilliantly in Holland, brilliantly in Germany, we've been excellent under Capello, utterly ridiculous overall to contradict it. Capello is one big part of the puzzle imo, he prepares sides well and for a change they all understand where they should be standing and where they should be running. I can only see an immense piece of bad luck or donkey refereeing stopping us progressing to the final. I will stick to Brazil, us or Spain being 3 of the final two.
