A strange race with some good points, but many bad. The Germans are reasonably fair at business and if they get to know you ( takes 2/3 years) they will trust you and stick with you, this is a kind of default positon - especially with the older Germans. Working with them actually means something, as they are hard to please and always on the look out for mistakes...You really have to deliver a kind of quality in the interactions that isn't really required in England...The reason it isn't reaquried at home is that we don't really believe in the spirit of the interaction, just the material gain. The Germans on the other hand have a quasi-spiritual relationship with business ( bit like the Japs) that makes doing business with them tricky but rewarding if things go well. They also aren't shy about wanting to learn and will question you to death about every little thing so they can understand it better...Whereas in England as long as the contract is signed everyone puts the kettle on. I had very high hopes of the Krauts when I moved there, with my background - two German girlfriends a German Nanny and a WW2 hobbyist ( ), I had a feeling I could learn a lot from them. I had the impression that they were confident and strong willed, but actually the reverse is the case, something has happenned there that has left German manhood a shadow of its former self (I call it holocaust dust). More later.....

Population of NZ is 4-5m actually You're right about being 30 years behind (at least) but that's actually part of its charm - quality of life and family values are still all important here and it's relatively unspoilt; people here don't tend to be the greedy money obsessed arseholes I came across in the south east of England, squashed into tiny living spaces and consumed by jealousy of other people and the idea of missing out. It's also an insignificant country in terms of world politics but again that's a plus. Unlike the UK, there's no chip on their shoulder about their past and their standing in the world, the armed forces are non existent (I expect their soldiers run around with wooden rifles making firing noises), and they're nuclear free, so our tax dollars don't go on supporting any of Donald Rumsfeld's companies or the Yanks madcap military campaigns. I quite like that. I also happen to like the Dutch, Amsterdam was a favourite place to visit and I met quite a few Dutch people on courses and the like. I actually found them hilarious, strange blend of liberalism and conservative values and they loved to drink. The main thing I've got against Holland is it's very boiring to look at by and large (unlike NZ which is spectacular ). I suspect the path between the real Dutch and the Boers diverged about 3 or 4 hundred years ago. Probably like comparing the Amish people to the Dutch. I haven't met a Boer that I've liked, but I haven't met that many truth be told. I haven't met any Zulus so I'll have to take your word for it If you go back the Dutch are actually originally a variety of Germans. Kicked out for wierd religious beliefs.

...he's rarely stuck in a bunker.

Oh yes I'm sure. But, but....I wasn't talking about the Boers. Oh well. Actually they were kidnapped from their homeland by malicious sprites and dumped in NZ. Since then they have plotted in secret to return to commit further racist outrages and crimes against humanity. The bastards. Shoot them all. It's the only langauage they understand. Better Mr P.?

One bloody golf glove and a 1 wood. Tiger: "What makes you think it was me?" One wood in the bush?
-
I keep looking at the set up at QPR and thinking they will get up.

This is probs going to end up with a bloody glove.

Oh yes I'm sure. The women are bad enough, the men must be evil. They arrived (The Boers) originally at Orange free state and declared that god had chosen them and given them this land (just a small matter of clearing out the native bliicks).... I wouldn't give a fuck if all the whites had to leave. There is a funny thing on utube somewhere where when the blacks first took power they had a laugh cutting off the water to the white mansions and then going round there and asking them for money to get it turned back on. Need some of that in Notting Hill tbs tbs...

They've got hold of him now and they won't let go till they take him down.

I've got very little hate in me, maybe a touch of scorn towards certain peoples but never against individuals. Maybe thats where youre going wrong? Going wrong . You're the biggest dick on here and I'm trying not to be nasty. Maybe you could offer advice to Phil Brown on where he's going wrong, no cunt else though. The Orange County Wars.

I'd say clubs can spend 20% of their turnover on players wages, and that really would bring the game back to the people. Bit too tight..If you're being serious. Shouldn't be over 50% though and should be vetted before the start of the season as in Germany.

Did they build in cheating type handball scenarios. If so Arg and italy win every time.

Needs to be done Europe wide obviously. I'd say top leagues 80k and CCC 30k.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/de...football-league Mawhinney has steadfastly campaigned for the introduction of a salary cap throughout the Football League in a radical attempt to stem the game's soaring debt. He nods when asked if this unsustainable debt, tied inextricably to players' grossly inflated wages, is now the key issue in English football. "Overwhelmingly so. It's at the heart of the problem. After I'd told the Championship clubs we'd just done a new media deal for a 130% increase in their TV revenue one chairman said, in a meeting, 'Brian, for God's sake give us some help because if you don't put in some form of regulation we are going to piss this money up the wall on players' wages'. Quote unquote." Players are nicking all the money as usual.

Economy of scale. Less is more. Not when you're dealing with the Chinese. More is definitely more there. More or less.

Exactly, while I think Essien is pure class in what he does, he's not going to win a game on his own, and inspire a side single handedly, that's what singles Gerrard out as the best. Ridiculous and beyond laughable definitively stating Fabregas and him are better players, I think even Wenger would have a chuckle. If you take Essien and Drogba out of Chelsea, they're still a very good side, same with say van Persie and Fabregas, you take Gerrard and Torres away Liverpool are a poor midtable squad that's what SG is up against. It's as clear as day.

South African winter so that won't help and they've never really looked like winning even when the climate suited them (I suppose you could make an argument for Nigeria in USA '94). I think Ivory Coast have the best African side there's been personally. In my view they have the best target man, the underrated in Yaya Toure, and a top class centre half with good players around them. I would love it if they could beat Brazil. It will be good for football if an African side gets to the SF's. I'd like to see meddling. anti-footballing sides like Italy out early and Germany imo are at their weakest for a long time.
-
The differeance Gerrard has to most of the others is that he can SINGLE HANDED lift a mediocre side, like Messi can and CR can. Fabregas can't really and nor can the likes of Xavi or Essien....Essien is mostly a bystander at Chelsea.
-
What exactly is the point of the EU?
-
Are we overlooking the fact that in Africa, this is the best chance in a long while for an African side to go to the wire?

If it transpired that a best midfielder debate was in the offing, then they need to be classifyied ie best allround, best attacking, best defensive etc..
