See my ans reg nationalising banks. We owe ECB and other lending agencies via bonds and whatnot... China holds upwards of a trillion dollars in U.S. bonds which have to be paid back in tranches if they cash them in or summink...But America owes money all over the world, mainly China. Not ideal nuking material unfortunately...Swiss would have been better, you see AIG and USB didn't get their money back. I was predicting the end of capitalism not really thinking it would happen, but it MIGHT. America and the Uk actually have viable economies and can dig their way out ie most of the G7, the rest are fucked.

Is it a viable field? They don't know yet, still wildcatting away Low yeild nuke Argentina our debt problems solved.
-
The easiest solution would be to nationalise all the banks and tell the markets to fuck off like Mexico threatened (till U.S. bailed it out), like Argentina did in the late 70's...Build up the army and invade neighbours keep the populace occupied.

At the end of the day how much revenue can you raise from kebab shops. Heres a daft idea, in addition to spending 120bn through the IMF and the ECB, why dont they invest some billions into giving discounts on holidays to Greece from other European countries? If you get an extra 1 million tourists into Greece, who each spend e.g. 1000 euros, with a multiplier of 2.5, that could inject 2.5bn into the Greek Economy, whilst generating value for the tourist tax-payer. Nice. Sure Alex will be all for it. It will take 30 yrs to get Greece back to sq one apparently. Fahked.

Tory Governments and riots seem to go hand in hand. May as well get it out of the way early rather than waiting a few years until the full effects of their policies are being felt. It's all ganna get fahked up.

As long as the Tories don't have a working majority, any madness can be stopped in its tracks. Parkometer latest +16 win for Tories no majority.

Basically as soon as Stevie started the thread I reversed all my bets. :(

Not sure of my 28 seat Tory win (no majority). New data from Parky towers this morning says it's going to the wire. :(

Yup. nothing would please me more Prepare not to be pleased then. Do you seriously think the euro would die in the core nations? Up until recently its been a comparative success hasn't it? There's far too much invested in it now in any case, both economically and politically, it won't be allowed to fail. The whole of Wall Street smell blood and will continue going after the Euro and ramping rates up against Soverign debt against Euro countries in trouble. There is no way we/Portugal/Spain/Greece can keep borrowing to fill said black hole. Euro is fucked. As I predicted. It's either the dollar or Euro people normally hedge against and it looks like the way the U.S. just magic up money, the Euro is looking the easier target to the hedge funds and intra-bank/ govt bond markets. Welcome to Capitalism.

Russian president asked to investigate alien claims Richard Galpin BBC News, Moscow Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, leader of the Kalmykia region Mr Ilyumzhinov made the claims in a TV interview A Russian MP has asked President Dmitry Medvedev to investigate claims by a regional president that he has met aliens on board a spaceship. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the leader of the southern region of Kalmykia, made his claim in a television interview. MP Andre Lebedev is not just asking whether Mr Ilyumzhinov is fit to govern. He is also concerned that, if he was abducted, he may have revealed details about his job and state secrets. The MP has written a letter to Mr Medvedev raising a list of his concerns. In his letter he says that - assuming the whole thing was not just a bad joke - it was an historic event and should have been reported to the Kremlin. He also asks if there are official guidelines for what government officials should do if contacted by aliens, especially if those officials have access to state secrets. Mr Ilyumzhinov said in an interview on primetime television that he had been taken on board an alien spaceship which had come to planet Earth to take samples - and claims to have several witnesses. He has been president of Kalmykia, a small Buddhist region of Russia which lies on the shores of the Caspian Sea, for 17 years. The millionaire former businessman has a reputation as an eccentric character. As president of the World Chess Federation, he has spent tens of millions of dollars turning the impoverished republic into a mecca for chess players - building an entire village to host international tournaments.

Nope Lib Dem. I'd love a third option to be realistic in the next election. Two party systems are virtually dictatorships Lib Dems being used to split the Labour vote?? Just a thought. It won't work in South Shields mate.... 2005 RESULT Labour 60.8% Liberal Democrat 19.2% Conservative 17.6% Others 2.4% It might in the marginals. Old trick, if you were wondering why the Lib dems have had a perceived easy ride from monster media.
