  1. Being multi-millionaires in your mid twenties for me erases some of the more rational and clear thinking with regard to responsability and goals in life etc...
  2. Think the last para is spot on...Al the tactical stuff is in one ear out the other. YOu can make a donkey drink water but he'll get lost in the forest or summink...
  3. Aye. Only us Brits score from corners you know. And what was that the Beeb came up with yesterday when introducing the match. 'This is the 51st match, or 5-1 if you prefer'. Jesus wept, what retard thought of that I wonder. Actually I was just saying to MrsP today how refreshing and exacting the German punditry is compared to the arse nosh served up in the UK.
  4. Like a few of the Chile players - Vidal, Sanchez etc..Think Honda of Japan can give up the day job making cars. Nilmar should get more pitch time.
  5. He's finished at the highest level. Do alright against Burnley and the like...
  6. Rob was chief designer of the Jubulani apparently.
  7. I would go futher than the 6+5 'd have minimum international caps rules to keep out the middle tier riff raff as well.
  8. In a nutshell. And they will get games eventually, either at their current clubs (in the case of Rodwell most likely) or in the case of someone like Gibbs, at a mid table club when he eventually gives up trying to dislodge Clichy from the Arsenal side which is basically what happened with Upson. Simply playing a lot of games won't turn them into world beaters though as Upson evidenced yesterday. And the next generation? Where do they come from?? See this is another concern I have - private take-overs of English football clubs. West Ham have always been considered a club to blood the youth of this country and have brought a massive proportion of the current England setup through their ranks - Johnson, Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard, Defoe, Carrick all came from their academy. But that was under the old ownership - can you honestly see the likes of Gold and Sullivan continuing in that vein? Or will they buy cheap from abroad for a quick buck?? Concerning to say they least. I'm not saying that there shouldnt be some sort of cap on the number of foreign players I just think it has little to do with Englands poor performence in this world cup where as I've said before, they have one of the best squads on paper at least. I'm unsure as to how bright or grim the future of English football is but this is a thread about yesterdays game and I think the reasons England played shit are far more to do with- Capello playing a bad system and making poor subs The players looking completely off the pace, most likely because of the intensity of the EPL and lack of winter break Lack of squad unity due to a high proportion of the key players being pricks Serioulsy man if you put your thinking cap on you'll see most of the lethargy and ego is that there isn't enough competition for places in the Eng team and that is primarily cause almost no fuker who plays for a big club qualifyies for Eng. CASE CLOSED.
  9. Fabio Capello and England's Dilemma: Only 34 Percent of EPL Players Are English Matt S Written on April 20, 2010 Are these statistics worrying for Fabio Capello? Seemingly any English player producing even a half-decent display is met with cries of "get him on the plane!” Questions are raised as to whether Capello should stick by the established names who performed well during the successful qualifying campaign or seek out new, potentially in-form players who might fall into the "secret weapon" category. But, just how many players are out there for Capello to choose from? "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" Statistics have revealed that just one third of players who have started at least one game in the Premier League this season have been English. More specifically of the 453 players to have started at least one game in the English top flight this season, only 155 of them have been English, clocking in at just 34 percent. The figures hold up in another examination: in the recent Gameweek 34 of the Premier League, in which all 20 clubs played, 89 of the 271 (33 percent) players used were English. Comparison to other major European leagues does not make it any easier to read. Spain’s La Liga sees Spaniards make up two thirds of all players to have started a game in La Liga this season (65 percent), almost double that of the Premier League. Italy is not far behind, with 57 percent of players starting a game in Serie A this season being Italian. Germany finds itself halfway between England and Italy with 45 percent of players starting a game in the Bundesliga this season being German.

  12. Foreign footballer cap not illegal says report By Geoff Meade, PA Thursday, 26 February 2009 Fifa president Sepp Blatter is determined to see the 6+5 rule in place by the start of the 2012-13 season GETTY IMAGES Fifa president Sepp Blatter is determined to see the 6+5 rule in place by the start of the 2012-13 season * Photos enlarge sponsored links: Controversial plans by football's world governing body to limit the number of foreign players do not breach EU rules, an independent report declared today. Fifa's so-called "6+5" rule has been overwhelmingly approved by 155 of the organisation's member nations, but dismissed as illegal by the European Commission and most EU governments because they say it amounts to discrimination at work and a restriction on the free movement of workers. Now the Institute for European Affairs (INEA) - commissioned by Fifa itself to study the issue - claims the idea of restricting foreign players in league games does not fall foul of EU rules on free movement of workers. 13. There has to be a rule change so Eng players learn to rely on themselves and read games and do all that stuff the imported talent is doing for them. Otherwise Eng will NEVER WIN THE WC.
  14. Can anyone explain why we dumped the 4231?
  15. That's a load of guff, the arsenal youth squad as well as their reserves are littered with English players, they never get through in the end because they're simply not good enough. Chelsea's youth squad would be a far better target, they won the cup last season with only one englishmen in the youth teams starting 11 IIRC. You're right. But will they make it into the first team, will they fuck!!
  16. Another thing the EU has ruined.
  17. There has to be a foreign player rule ffs! No point in having some of the best coaching set ups in the world if we're just bringing through European and African players at Arsenal, Chelsea etc...Arsenal Youth squad had 2 Eng players last time I looked. Wenger has been at arsenal a decade and we only have Cole and Walcott to show for it.
  18. This is the damning indictment for me. The best 'English represented' clubs in the Premier League are Spurs and Man City and both of those are considered some way off the pace. English (and by that I mean home-grown) football talent has gone way off the boil ever since they disbanded with the foreign player limitations in the European competitions. There is some light at the end of the tunnel. "Football's world governing body today voted in favour of the "six-plus-five" rule, which would put a limit on the number of foreign players each team could field. Sepp Blatter, the Fifa president, has said he hopes the controversial rule will be in place by the 2012-13 season. His vision appears to be a step closer following the overwhelming backing at Fifa's annual congress in Sydney, Australia. The rule would limit every team to only five foreign players in their starting XI. The Football Association have confirmed they voted in favour of discussing Fifa's six-plus-five rule proposal. "Bringing through more high-quality English players in the future is an absolute priority for the FA," an FA spokesman said. "One of our reservations has always been that the 'six-plus-five' rule appears to contravene European law and we welcome further exploration of its legality. " I bet Arsene Wenger's loving this idea... What's classed as a 'foreign' player BTW - surely that should include Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and EIRE?? Non English ie qualifies for another FA for international competition.

English (and by that I mean home-grown) football talent has gone way off the boil ever since they disbanded with the foreign player limitations in the European competitions. The spine of the team that played yesterday Cole, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard and Rooney have all been regular top perfromers in champions league sides for the last 5 seasons, the rest come from teams who have come close to champions league football bar one or two exceptions (James + Upson). There's no team where every starting player comes from a top club-with the exception of Spain to some extent. Brasil have players playing in Greece and Turkey in their starting 11, Argentina have a Newcastle player for gods sake and a keeper playing for a mid table dutch side etc Yeah but we can't play football.

  21. So serene was England's dominance that at no point did you find yourself howling at the pitch of your lungs the following; FOR FUCK'S SAKE, YOU PACELESS, ARROGANT, AGENT-COSSETTED, OVER-INDULGED, CULTURELESS, WAG-WHIPPED, FRECKLED, EARPLUGGED, SO-BORING-IN-INTERVIEWS-ON-FUCKING-FOOTBALL-FOCUS-THEY-HAVE-TO-FAST-CUT-TO-PHOTOS-OF -YOUR-HANDS-AND-FLIP-FROM-COLOUR-TO-BLACK-AND-WHITE, GOLDEN SHOWER OF A FUCKING NON-GENERATION, WILL YOU STOP PASSING THE BALL AROUND LIKE A) IT'S A FUCKING BLACK ROUND BOMB WITH A BURNING FUSE , THE LIKE OF WHICH YOU ONLY GET IN THE BEANO OR THE BATMAN FILM WITH ADAM FUCKING WEST, OR IT'S POSSIBLE TO CATCH SOME WEIRD STRAIN OF FOOT-AIDS FROM A FUCKING FOOTBALL!
  22. First there is the hype and then there is the anti-hype. We were never as good as people hoped but we have not turned to shit overnight. We're about 8th best in the world but we didn't play to that potential in a single game. We were shite against Germany I'm afraid. Whether that's a true reflection of how good we actually are is a different matter. Germany are no great shakes which makes it worse for me. What potential? There is no potential imo. England are not a top 10 side and things are only going to get worse. You're just a wonderful ray of sunshine you aren't you? Where's the young talent coming through though? The premiership, for whatever reason, is killing the National game in England. What a load of shite. There's as many players in La Liga foreign as there are here, and Spain are mint. We can build a decent side with the likes of Adam Johnson and Cattermole, they're not going to win anything but we'll manage. It's about 50% in La Liga Stevie. It's 70% in the PL. Closer to 80% for the top four!!
  23. The numbers of FOREIGN PLAYERS for Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool are 70,4%, 67,7%, 86,7% and 77,8% respectively.
