One also wonders why Carrick wasn't played (inj)?

The Parky radar notices its 400b euro credit line from the ECB ends 1st of July. Spain's banks are a little flustered right now about the possibility that the ECB might take away its special €442 billion funding facility, according to the FT. Since one year there is a monetary facility provided by the ECB, which was used to inject additional cash into the financial system. This facility, will expire this week, on the 1st July, without any back-up plans by the ECB. The ECB's plan to allow the funding facility to expire have been labeled "absurd" by Spanish banks lobbying for its continuation. You can see what Spanish banks are worried about. Here's a chart detailing the liquidity drop off if the ECB allows the fund to expire on July 1:

The politics thread reaches its nadir.

That and the fact Stevie reckons they're shit means you might as well give them the trophy now I reckon. He must have lost a ton at this world cup with his pin in map betting style. You don't know the half of it mate. I hope Uruguay win it now Chile are out. Still holding onto my Serbia winnings till the mojo strikes again.

Liverpool will destroy another manager.

I don't he has been training hard since the inj, unless he looks like that normally which I doubt. Again I'd have to ask questions of Capello regarding how Rooney was set up for this world cup. But how do you now play him?

Being multi-millionaires in your mid twenties for me erases some of the more rational and clear thinking with regard to responsability and goals in life etc... well you would know......................

Why not just blame me for fat Rooney? You in the huff because I pointed out you were quoting inaccurate 'facts' like? Or are the locals getting to you? Siege mentality. As 2Jeeps said and I agree we will probably never see the same Rooney as we had 2/3 years ago. Fergie has connived into making him a hard working deep striker which is no good for Eng.

He's an odd shape, built more like a heavy weight boxer than a creative midfielder come striker. I think it's going to be harder for him than most to retain his fitness and therefore form into his late 20s or 30s. He could do easily go off the rails, especially if ManU are forced to sell him or when Ferguson retires (next year imo). He's supposed to have a pretty low body fat percentage so I don't think he's fat but I do think he's bulked up a bit since he burst onto the scene and the extra muscle has possibly slowed him down a bit. I know it's natural to put on extra weight as you 'fill out' but I think because Rooney was strong as an ox at 18, he probably needed a weights etc. regime that kept him relatively trim rather than making him bigger and stronger. Perhaps that's another effect of playing in the PL and the English culture. I think he probably will have to watch his weight as he gets older but, unlike you, I think he could actually thrive with the right move (to a top club abroad that is). Fergie was totally irresponsible playing a young player in those last few games knowing he was carrying an injury. Nothing fucks with young players minds more than going through those kinds of ordeals.

Basically the tabloid media big Eng up and then wait for the inevitbale meltdown. Nothing will change regarding that. Look at the furore in the press reg Italy and France.

Personally I don't think he is physically or mentally right and Capello must know that.

"Rooney was busy enough against massed markers on Saturday, volleying his best opportunity disappointingly over the bar but providing the cute reverse pass that presented Joe Cole with his second goal before the hour mark. The pity was that the Manchester United striker could not register his own reward. Of his 14 international goals, only five have come since he really burst on to the scene so impressively at Euro 2004. More damning is the reality that there have been only two competitive goals in the four years since - a cold hard fact that blatantly illustrates the current frustrations for the 22-year-old. "Wayne needs a goal and it would be nice to see him score," conceded Frank Lampard. "I think it would do him good, obviously, but there's a lot more to his game than just scoring goals. He's a creator. He wants goals for his confidence and, just when you need one in an important situation, he'll get it."

We should keep Capello till the next WC.

He looks top notch. Will be a fat useless cunt after a few in the PL mind.
