  1. We're in Iraq so America can leverage and contain oil supply and pricing and Israel can steal water from the Tigris. We're in Afghanistan to help the sisters. Think I've got it now.
  2. If post-invasion hand wringing leads to serious concerns about womens rights in a country thousands of miles away, I await with baited breath the invasion of Saudi Arabia.
  3. Yeah what are you again, a socialist who uses BUPA? That's him.
  4. Don't think ManU have the cash to get Benzema away from Real. Fair point, But if Rooney still has 20monts on his contract, they could still demand a fairly large fee, couldn't they? Now that it is public knowledge he wants out that will effect the fee and he may decide to sit his contract out. He'll have to be sold in Jan to a club that really wnats him immediately if a goodish fee is to be had imo.
  5. So when is Nato going to invade thw whole of Africa?

  7. Capitalism isn't set up for full employment for many complex reasons to do with the money supply and pressure on wages and competition. The welfare state is a good way to get money to the periphery (it all comes back anyway - disadvantaged tend to spend their money unwisely), wether a small percentafe cheat the system is neither here nor there really. The whole system is unfair for the majority. [/ParkyMarx]
  8. He's been playing since he was 17 at the top level, his man age is irrelevant. His football age is closer to 30 is my point. The demands of modern football means it's really hard especially in the PL these days and 50 games a season for high impact players to play for more than 10 years at the highest level. Aye, it's really fucked the likes of Giggs and Scholes. Giggs has a different kind of body and Scoles has spent most of his career sitting. Rooney has a unique kind of body for a footballer as suggested by others earlier and also I agree with Renton that he will decline quicker as he is already. Of course Rooney uses power and relies on a good engine but he's also one of the most talented English footballers of recent times. He'll still be playing at the top at the age of 30. I think his problems are more psychological than physical. I hope he has a long carrer at the top, the game is already getting boring.

Aye, it's really fucked the likes of Giggs and Scholes. Every player's different. Ian Wright was all about pace yet he was class well into his 30s. Not saying I think Rooney is finished like because I don't think he is. Weight also had that kind of natural fitness.

  11. His real player age is 30 though, and that's a conservative estimate. Probably closer to 47 in reality. Retirement is beckoning He needs a long rest basically. Perhaps the bench at Inter or Man C.

  13. Said he was finished a couple of months ago. Sometimes these players who play too much and rise too early start to decline at a younger age. His body has already taken quite a battering being at the top level since he was 17. In real player age he's already 30.
  14. Their turnover was £283m last year, and they still made a loss. The interest payments on their loans was £80m. That £80m being washed down the drain because of the Glazer's could've been spent purely on players, it really is astonishing when you look at it, and I fully understand why Man Utd fans are so fucked off with them. They still made a loss despite the Ronaldo money, it might be a case of they have to sell Rooney. Man Utd are a massive club no one can take that away from them, but they're fucked in terms of competing with Chelsea and Man City on the transfer front as long as the Glazer's are in charge. What is happening at Man Utd, the financial situation, the global economic problems which will undoubtedly impact on revenues in the next two years, their best players are nearly at the end of their careers, problems with Rooney, inadequate younguns coming through, unable to compete with the very best in the transfer market presently, it's almost the perfect storm for Man City fans. I predicted at the start of the season Man C will finish 2nd in the league.

Did kick a fat girl in the shins once at a bustop for shoving me out the way when I was about 17.
  18. How many times have I got into trouble here for saying that...
  19. Big debate in the PTA on whether to bring uniforms back or not. I'm all for it, Hugo Boss? Famed for their detailing.
  20. Gerrrrah has really gone downhill since the WC. Carrah is surely finished at this level, doddring around at RB of all places. Think the re-building will take at least 2 seasons. They are behind Spurs and Man C now in the pecking order.
