What part of that did you edit? Out of morbid curiosity.

As are we all, Parky. Hows the bairn, btw? She firing on all cylinders again at school? Yup all back on track. Thanks for asking.

I'm worried.

Why fukin Liv??!!!

He needs the money to fund his research, trying to discover a cure for baldness
-
This is it like. £35m is mental money but it does us no good really as we wont get anyone to replace him and we'll never get anyone anywhere near his level to come to us, so like Parky says I'd reject no matter what because there's no point us sitting with even £60m in our pocket while having Shola+Best up front plus all our better players disgruntled. If I was running the club I would categorically NEVER sell Carroll. As you say the money these days doesn't mean much if it ain't on the pitch. The kind of person Carroll is and the relationship with the club also means he is irreplaceable. Clubs like Spurs and Liv also sense that we will challenge them in the not too distant future if we keep the likes of Carroll and add player like Tiote and so on...

Liverpool bid £35 million+ for Carroll
Park Life replied to DesperateDannyB's topic in Newcastle Forum
This is exactly the kind of deal that has got Spurs where they are tbh. The daft money they've got for Berba, Keane and that has funded the squad they have. It always comes back to whether it's reinvested. It's really hard to find these kind of young players these days man. -
Wonder if Pardew has a say in this?

35m is more than Barca paid for David Villa in the summer to put it into context. I'd still turn it down myself... Didnt Wolves bid £3.5m for AC last January? 1000% increase in asset value in 12 months. He was supposed to go to Stoke in July fo £5m if the papers were to be believed. I remember this time last year we played Palace at home, neet game, he was fuckin diabolical, I remember thinking I'd take £5m for him then. He's come on l;eaps and bounds since then though, but I believe we could stay up if we do sell, it's just £35m is so much money. Even Real Madrid are tightening their belts, their big signing this summer was only £20m. I'm torn. I'd keep him, he has that talismanic quality about him. Tbh I'd turn down 50m. Straight up.

If a £25M bid is true, I can't see how we could say no. The cynic in me says we told them to come back later with the offer, lessening the chance for us to re-invest. If he did go, not replacing him is madness. Though, Pardoo does have faith in Best and Shola £30m bid rejected according to the Press Association. Whether that's just holding out for more or a real statement of intent remains to be seen. Sorry guys 35m for carroll is a good deal, I know I'm going to get shot down in flames here but there you go It is. If it isn't reinvested that's not really much consolation is it? That's the point. Even if it was going to be, are you going to be able to get a replacement(s) to come here who is anywhere near as good who'll play for 30k a week? Or is it just going to signal to the likes of Enrique and Tiote that they should move on? I'm holding onto the idea that it has been announced so they can turn it down. Straw grasping at its best.

With his connection to the club he is basicaly irreplaceable.
-
Really hope it isn't Liv.
-
Who is he?
-
This. I reckon £30m + a player or £35m and he's gone. It's mental when you think about it. If he goes this window and we don't get a PL quality striker in, we're back in the relegation scrap imo.

ManC have fucked up a bit Dzenko, they are pretty short of Eng players.
-
Torres has gone man.

What if he scores another 10 goals this season? Isnt he on a 5 year contract? Could easliy be worth more in the summer if he keeps scoring. There should be more to this deal than money. It's clear that he has a definable market value already. I'd like to see him continue with us for another 3/4 years.
-
I don't want us to, I just think 35m+ is a lot to turn down, IF he uses a large portion to buy a replacement. More than Barca paid for David Villa. A British transfer record for a lad who's only got half a season under his belt as a first choice striker in the top flight and one international friendly cap. It's an unbelievable offer to turn down and will go some way to convincing me of Ashley's intent if rejected. Must be seriously tempting.

I don't want us to, I just think 35m+ is a lot to turn down, IF he uses a large portion to buy a replacement. But can we get a replacement today? I don't think so...

You know nowt, bugger off. We'll see. I think it will come down to how much Carroll want to stay, although couple of bids seem to have been rejected it's clear word is out there that we might do business on Carroll. Massive moment for MA. Carroll and the like don't grow on trees and at that age are incredibly attractive to clubs.
-
Liv also want Ashley Young.
-
Spurs are offering 30m plus Pav Liv 35m Slight concern about the Liv bid obviously. My gut feeling is that it is now 50/50 and that MA wants 40m to do business.
