  1. Exactly. It's a deal everyone was happy with. Ashley's still a cunt (I had said I'd give him kudos if Carroll was still here in Feb, unfortunately he waved that opportunity), and now carroll's a cunt too. you can't renegotiate your contract every 3 fucking months! He wouldn't be so willing to renegotiate downwards when he goes through an inevitable baron run would he. That's why you have 5 year contracts...unless you're Don fucking Draper.
  2. In the cold light of day nobody in a similar postion is turning down 35m for a 'prospect'. He isn't the finished article by a long shot. That kind of money is what you pay for a finished article a Villa or a Torres...Carroll is miles behind those two.
  3. All bases covered post from NO.. "The problem with this analysis is that if you are right, then it could just as easily been achieved by Carroll waiving the loyalty bonus, and avoid having to hand in a formal transfer request. Anyone can waive a benefit of a contract. He would have avoided the massive stigma of handing in a transfer request at your local club. So it can't have just been about avoiding the loyalty bonus. I think you're close though - I suspect Carroll wanted to go all along once he had his head turned. He's been on England duty, and stuck with those fuckers for a few days on massive wages can change things. There were stories on here all day yesterday from sources close to the player saying that wheels were in motion and he will be gone today. The personal terms had clearly been agreed well in advance. That isn't the conduct of a player who was reluctantly forced into going because Ashley wanted the cash. Carroll met with the club early yesterday morning, and once it was made clear he wanted to go, then all that NUFC could do is maximise value, but knowing that if Liverpool didn't stump up the price then they still wouldn't lose - they could still sell him in the summer. I genuinely believe they rejected £35m, but did so knowing that Liverpool were desparate, and anticipating a higher bid. Carroll was then advised by his agent to hand in a transfer request. This forced the issue, meant that NUFC get a higher fee due to the loyalty bonus not being paid, and also have an opportunity to save face as they only sold as they were forced to. This means the £35m became immediately more attractive, financially and from a PR perspective. All of the above fits with what we saw happened yesterday, it is consistent with all of the "sources" close to the player, and consistent with statements made by both clubs, and is entirely logical. No conspiracy at all. NUFC behaving like a business. Carroll behaving like a footballer. Move on." Not much wrong with that imo.
  4. They were fighting over him... Newcastle's in-form striker Andy Carroll, who can’t seem to avoid controversy off the pitch, is embroiled in a dispute with his former agent that is the subject of FA arbitration. Peter Harrison, who has represented Carroll, 21, since he was 16 and claims to have him under contract until next April, has a complaint lodged with the FA over monies allegedly owed from the player’s five-year deal with Newcastle that was signed in the summer. Harrison is understood to have been told a year earlier that Carroll wanted to join agent Mark Curtis. His clients include Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, with whom the bad-boy centre forward has been staying to meet his bail conditions. It is Curtis who negotiated Carroll’s new contract with Newcastle and Harrison is understood to be considering legal action against his rival middle man, based in Gibraltar, once his FA case against Carroll is resolved. The tug-of-war over English football’s latest hot property has parallels with the long-running legal battles that agent Paul Stretford has fought since 2002 over his representation of Wayne Rooney. The friction between Harrison and Curtis goes back to the 2006 Panorama bungs documentary in which Harrison, duped by an undercover sting, provided an introduction to Curtis’s manager client Sam Allardyce. 5. Think that all comes from the agent. Who is the agent?
  6. I need a bacon sarnie and a full fat coke.
  7. Wouldn't have thought you'd be as superior as usual for a while, after your 100% guarantee that Carroll wouldn't be sold in this window. I read Carroll wrong and not the club. Understandable given his comments. It wasnt a guarantee either, it was a bet that nae one wanted. I'm more upset about this than when Cole left because am a hopeless bellend of a romantic who loved the fact that we had a home grown number 9. If you think i'm going to pipe down as i was convinced he would stay then you're wrong. How did you not read the club wrong? They've chosen to sell the lad when he's tied up on a five year contract. I dont think Man U wanted rid of Ronaldo but they sold him. What about when Rooney put in a transfer request? The club took the time to speak to the boy and work things out. What happened here was; Bid for 35m - Rejected Transfer Request - Accepted within 10 minutes Bid Accepted That doesn't work. Transfer requests can be knocked back and contracts re-negotiated to bring him closer in line with what he's valued at in the current marketplace. Err...Think Rooney got a massive pay rise out of it.
  8. It's pretty close to the glass ceiling of is value anyway. Don't think with the money on the table there was a way out for any of the parties, they all saw mutual benefit and that inc the agents. Ideally would have kept him till the summer but again it was a VAST AMOUNT OF MONEY. VAST.
  9. It's at times like this posters real personas come to the fore. Renton, Chez - clinical, logical. HF - See's it but being gentle. Gemmill - pragmatic Alex- Open minded, but prepared to let Carroll off the hook. Fist - falls back on humour as is his wonderful way Stevie - seething and genuily hurt, but tring to mask it.. KAS- looking for gags, unconcerned with reality of any kind. Love this board. And here's the news... He wanted to go, the club wanted the money and if it is reinvested, even 70% of it, it is a fantastic deal. IMO this is a big gamble by Liv. Wasn't happy that Shearer had been bigging Andy up to Dalglish.
  10. should have brought him back and kept Carroll. In fact, announcing you have put a bid in for a player, playing for the club most unlikely as anybody to sell a player to NUFC in a moment of crisis, and expecting the supporters to believe it is anything more than an attempt to pacify thick idiotic supporters after the events of today, by a couple of the biggest wankers running a football club that you will find, must indeed be as thick as mince. wait a moment, I'm sure some will actually believe this Typical MA to pick Wigan knowing as he does the hatred Whelan has for him. Must be his little in joke.
  11. Apart from that there is a million other things he could have done to kill the deal. Mad wage demands being the easiest one.
  12. Makes fuck all sense. If he doesnt want to go he has a contract which has to be upheld. Did the cousin say anything about his agent "insisting" on him listening to Liverpool's offer? what would you do? I'd have pretended to sell him to Liverpool and then when they sold Torres to Chelsea, phoned up NESV (mortal obviously) and gone 'WAHHHHH' and hoyed the phone down. What about you?
  13. It's maddening. Nothing to soften the blow even slightly. Can we stay up without him is what MA would have asked Pardew.... I find it amusing that you believe that Pardew was even consulted on it. Just trying to spread some thread of dignity over tonights debacle.
  14. It's maddening. Nothing to soften the blow even slightly. Can we stay up without him is what MA would have asked Pardew....
  15. Think people are seriously deluded if they are suggesting not lining up a replacement was an oversight. Seriously stop it.
  16. I just started involuntarily laughing just now. My mind is close to broken.
  17. DEADMAN stated numerous times he'd kill him if Carroll was sold, I don't think he's got the balls! maybe his username is referring to Ashley?
  18. Tbf there'll be no one sicker about this than Leazes. Well said.
  19. I'll have to update my spreadsheet at work tomorrow We need it now mate. Can't you nip in for a couple of hours...Overtime?
