  1. If my prediction for the season was a CL finish then you'd have a point. 'It's only 6 games' is precisely right, and exactly what I've said. If you've noticed evidence of me getting carried away with myself and claiming that beating average sides means we'll beat the very top sides then feel free to post it. Doubt you will though tbf. I think cause Chez made a huge post that is covertly pro-ashley, the weaker minded amonst us are considering boarding a train without knowing the destination. Time will tell if it's wishful thinking or not. I'm not sure that anyone really knows what Ashley is up to.....at the same time you can't argue with results.....the question is whether it's a renaissance or a false dawn. I'm still strongly anti-Ashley but at the same time you have to give credit where it's due and enjoy the run we're on. Agreed.

And I think that's just flowery shit when you've been asked to give a factual response and can't tbh. I agree with some of your and Chez's points. [edit] What I'm trying to say is that it's only natural for us as supporters to want to believe (project) that somehow MA in his own mad way will get/has got things right. This will always creep into the narrative. This is what I watch out for on my own opinion of the situation.

  4. You don't want to use losing against good sides as a barometer yet you want to use beating average/crap sides as one? It's only 6 games man.
  5. We'll probably lose, but then that's what we usually do. Check out our stats for going to Old Trafford since the Prem began, they're horrendous. Anfield too. Man C don't warrant comparison because they've only been good for a season. The rest aren't great. We can't use that as the barometer, it's only applicable when you're competing with those teams for honours, and when we briefly did, we still didn't have a good enough record against them. For now, surely we have to measure things by reference to how we fare against the big spending average clubs around us. Cake and eat if post of the decade.
  6. This thread will be the new front line. Discernment is the key. We've made a good start to the season. We haven't played a good side yet. Let's see what happens.
  7. Hilarious and just the first few pages. They have spent a truckload of money past few seasons.
  8. Correct. Surely it's reasonable to say that Carr scouted and recommended Tiote after McClaren suggested the player? I don't even know why this is a bone of contention? I cannot believe we'd sign a player based solely on a manager's recommendation, so there must have been some scouting. If that is true, it surely would have been Carr who made the final recommendation to the manager and the board? I don't believe Carr just happened to have been watching RC Lens reserves, spotted Abeid and suggested we sign him, I think it more likely someone suggested he have a look. I've recanted.
  9. Carr+Sven+Mclaren = Tiote to Toon. He was in and out the side so he was under the radar. McLaren emphasised he would be ideal for the PL. Hughton tried to claim credit but had little to do with it apart from watch the vids Carr made.
  10. In this instance he's partly right. *Sneaky edit.
  11. Generally the women take over the getting up early thing if you play your cards right.
  12. We've found the simplest method is inviting friends over for a sleep in. They tend to knacker each other out.
  13. A California students' group has sparked a racism and sexism row over plans for a bake sale in which people are charged according to their ethnic background and gender. Campus Republicans at the University of California, Berkeley say critics have overreacted to their event planned for this week, which they insist is a protest over affirmative action. The group's Facebook page lists the price of baked goods at the sale according to race: $2 for whites, $1.50 for Asians, $1 for Hispanics, $0.75 for blacks and $0.25 for Native Americans. "$0.25 FOR ALL WOMEN!" it added. Campus Republican President Shawn Lewis said the idea of the "Increase Diversity Bake Sale" was to highlight a legislative bill to let California public universities consider race and gender in their admissions process. He said they planned to go ahead with the sale on Tuesday despite protests and threats. "We didn't expect the volume, the amount of response that we got," he told CNN. "In the first few hours, hundreds of posts on our Facebook page. And the tone of some of the responses -- we expected people to be upset. We didn't expect personal threats to be made. "They were implicit and explicit threats made to the organizers of the event, from burning down the table to throwing our baked goods at us and other kinds of physical threats."
  14. Think he 'does a job' and has decent pace/control/tackling. Not a worldbeater. But good for a cheapy.
  15. just a bath and a story. Nowt too complex. He usually goes down at night alright. Just doesn't fancy sleeping through past 5 am. He goes down about 7.30-8. We thought about putting him to bed later but you need a couplevof hours on your own to chill at night for your own sanity I reckon. Sleeping too much during the day probably, look at how long the morning and afternoon naps are on average. Our one goes down at 8am and wakes up anywhere between 7.30 and 9am. She doesnt nap in the morning and has one hour in the afternoon. When she did nap in the morning we kept it to 30 mins. You've got to find the right balance between napping and their own behaviour. We found too little daytime sleep was a nightmare as she became too tired in the evening and then there was always a major kerfuffle getting dinner/ bath/ book/ bed/ all of these sorted. Might be that. that's what i don't understand, he isn't much of a sleeper in the day eiher. he usually has three naps of around 30-45 minutes each. i read they should be napping at least three hours during the day but he's nowhere near that. The Isreali question probably weighing heavy on the little shoulders.
  16. I would put Marveux on instead of him unless we're chasing the game, Wolves are VERY physical.

We used to keep ParkyJnr tasking with various distractions.
  18. Are you married Welsh!? How long have you been with this woman. oh not that long married no chance i like to have sex lol thats why im happy im free but gutted that i dont do them things couples do. They don't do that much, they just pretend they do like breakfast in a posh breakfast place on a sunday morning...Well it's really just breakfast innit.. Women are basically evil, always keep that in mind.

Used to play off 7 at one point many moons ago. If you put in time on the range (but also chipping and putting) it will show up in your game. Don't try and hit the ball too hard.
  20. Yeah. Not exactly, but there'd be less expectation. Isn't that the point? Its the same as the fullback position. We needed a player, we sold one, got one in, and still need one more. Only difference with the striker situation is the player we sold was for an absolute fortune and was replaced for nothing. If you believe (as I do) that we're operating on a 'one out one in' principle, then Carroll was replaced by Ba. Which means unless the likes of Lovenkrands, Ranger or (please God) Ameobi get transferred in Jan, there's little prospect of seeing a new striker this season. In the summer Smith, Guthrie and I think Loven's contracts are up which gives more headroom. If we were serious about kicking on we'd recruit a new striker, CB and RB but presumably that would shoot the wage bill/budget to shit so I doubt we'll see anything in Jan, especially if the current rate of progress is maintained. Which is a crying shame. Honestly we're a couple of players away from being a decent side.
  21. Said the same in the match thread about getting Bafra on...With him and Marveux moving and finding space and one touch passing going on...It looked silky. Blackburn must have felt like they just stepped of fair ride. Also a bit worried that Pards won't drop Best to accomodate Hartem.
  22. From a French poster on NO: Ben Arfa will be in every Laurent Blanc's selection if he can stay fit Marveaux was knocking the door of the national team before his injury with Rennes last year Cabaye seems to be a serious candidate for a starting 11 since his last match with France Obertan leaved Bordeaux with a good reputation but is still "unproven" in France. Abeid was called "the next Ben Arfa" when playing with Lens youngsters
