Yep, we are third because we have a fantastic spine to the team so far. Krul has been brilliant, Colo is Colo, Taylor is playing like the lad he was hyped to be, Tiote is back to his best, Cabaye has fitted straight in and looks brilliant then we have 2 strikers who average a goal a game between them. It's no coincidence we are doing so well and although I know we will finish a number of places below where we are now if we can keeps these players performing as they are whilst introducing the likes of Ben Arfa, Santon, Marveaux to the set up we can have a very good season. I know my "expectations have been lowered etc.." but finishing 7th this season isn't unrealistic and would represent a very good season. Do we dare dream of 6th? :lol:

And that's where we disagree because i think Ben Arfa or Marveaux helping the midfield rather than Lovenkrands up front would have kept more possession which means Wolves getting the ball less, and getting it out wide less. So it does matter because Wolves like every team in the game do not score from every cross, so you reduce the number of crossess, you reduce the likelyhood they score, thats a pretty fair observation imo. I'm not guarenteeing it would stop them i'm saying i think its the best chance we had because they were on top (which is to be expected away) so we had to reduce their chances as best we could. And i wouldn't have brought Santon on either! I would start him next game though, SPurs will be a tough test no doubt, but he's got to get up and running soon and i'd go for it personally. I think the first page of the coaching manual reads something like 'midfield being overrrun? Bring on a midfielder to increase possesion and ball retention'. IMO we would have have been less likely to risk the final result by taking Best and Obi off and bringing Bafra and Marv on. This is the second time Pards has been indecisive when we were clearly under seige for long periods.

No mention of the chance Ba missed that would have killed the game either. Games ebb and flow, away fom home it's natural to be "under the cosh" for long periods, little things make a huge difference, like Ba's miss for example. Bringing on the 2 slowest, worst players on our bench (i assume for their 'experience') was daft when there's players available who could have compounded the misery for wolves. He Invited pressure onto a defense who have performed excellent so far this season, but in all hontesty have not come up against anyone with any killer instinct and as a result are flattered by conceding so few. This is the second time Pards has stood by and watched our midfield getting totally butchered. The sub for Ba was practically suicide. Under pressure you bring players on who will get ball contact and amongst it, not someone who will be up the end of the pitch we didn't manage to get the ball into for a good 20 min. V lucky. Really should have got spanked for a tactical and mental washout in the 2nd half. They had a perfectly good pen denied and a good goal chalked off and but for thier forwards being inept and Krul stopping 2 certain goals the scoreline could have easily read 5-2 and we would have deserved no more for that abject 2nd half. Ba is looking clinical atm and his parthership with Best works well. Caabye dissapeared again as against Qpr when the cosh was on though.
