Film/moving picture show you most recently watched
Park Life replied to Jimbo's topic in General Chat
It was pretty dissapointing bearing in mind the hype. The plot is as weak as fuck and ALL the characters are thinly drawn caricatures. Some of the stuff in the forest is alright. The thousands of cuts and wipes per scene left me feeling that it was a very lame attempt at emotion/sensation overcoming any kind of critical thought. [/farenheit451]. I sense the books might be pretty good mind as there was glimpses of deeper machinations that were just glossed over. 6.2/10 I wanted more from the riots. I wanted to see the overthrow. It was annoying to see the fighters continue to play by the rules to the very end....I guess it's being saved for later films/books. Exactly. Not having read the books I imagined the fighters/hostages would somehow spark some kind of revolt amongst the proles. And like you say there seemed little paving the way/backstory - which really 'took away' from the shennanigans in the forest. I wanted to know exactly what was for grabs and what were the real odds?.How much real control was there in the 'outlands'? It was also irritating that the uniforms were straight out of THX (homage?). At the end of the day I was glad they fucked it up cause this film has some things eerily close to my script. Control is freedom. -
With Collo playing we would have won. It's going to be very hard with our ravaged defence.

The .2 is just a pisstake. Would have been better if they had volunteered for X factor AND THEN dumped in a forest with weapons. -

Frothing to have another look at that first 45min tonight.

45 mins of pure Hatem.
-
Smooth free-flowing football. At last. Hatem popping up in key parts of the best moves and orchestrating the piecemeal destruction.

Bullhead. 8/10 Amazing cinema. A raw but poetic rendition of the lost modern male. -
One of the funniest things that's happened this year.

Napoli had finished 8th 11th and 3rd when Maradona arrived. Messi wouldn't have been able to raise the whole side and the locals and create the passion and fireworks Maradona did IMO. What he did at Napoli went beyond the scope of football. Messi is a schoolkid by comparison, snuggling in a 2 team league with bigger kids nicking his sanwiches at training. One player was a phenomena the other is just very good a football. And only one of then can do 20 lines a day.
-
Maradona kebab for me. Players these days like Messi are over protected by refs compared to the kind of tackiling Maradona had to play against. The gypsy boy would mash Messi up in any kind of match up. Hegelian dialectics will bear this out of course.

Went to hospital with a double fracture??!! Might as well wear pink pyjamas and collect sequined teacup mats you big puff!

Think you're being silly now. We played Arsenal at the Emirates who are currently in the best form of the season. That's why we had no posesssion as they are the most natural passin side in the league and one of the best in Europe. Fuck all to do with Hatem.
-
We had no posession mate. I know you love him Parky, but he was shite mate. Get real we had 19% posession at one point.

We had no posession mate.

Arsenal have been on a good run and there was enough about us for the first half to make me think we might nick a point. Thought Wilson was alright till the throw in which he should have left for someone else and jogged back (they just weren't thinking we had about 6 players in their half against a side full of pace). This side completely humbled Milan a few days ago and destroyed Spurs comprehensively. Tiote is the man you need in those last few mins and it showed. He would have just hacked he first fucker with the ball and we'd have our point. A lot of our players were average tonight (especially Cabaye and Guti who have both been shit for about a month) which was masked by some poor Arsenal finishing and our goal. Tactically Pardew had the first half almost right (apart from leaving Obertan on too long). Second half it should have been Cisse for Ba and another midfield in the middle and then the temptation to hoof whouldn't have been so strong. Once Shola is on we just start skying it (which we didn't do much in the first half an hour). Tiote our MOM. Krul back to form.

Another lovely goal today.
-
Should have just fouled someone as they broke, as it was we had 5 players in their half with 45secs to go..
-
Think we had a good first half and were competitive if overwhelmed. Second half we were basically tramelled. Losing Tiote and Santon didn't help. Shola needs to kill someone when he comes on if he ain't gonna score.
