The Reader was very good although not strictly a 'war film'. Beautifully paced.

There is no such thing as the past.

Actually Hunt for Red October is the last war film I watched...Twice in a week. Captures the tension and essence of the cold war brilliantly.

Right see what you mean. To put it into perspective Russian military losses was between 9 - 10 million compared to about 400,000 U.S.

Interesting. How do you mean?

He's in Paris. Busy.

That was bad - you mean when they are raiding the apartments... Himmler used to carry a leather bound copy of the Bhagwad Gita around with him to remind himself that life was illusory and that everything returns to dust and the 'atma' (soul) is the only thing that lasts. It was sneaky as running the SS meant he needed some kind of psychological distance from the result of his activities...True story.

Mrs P always tells me off for giggling at that balcony scene where he's shooting at gandhi...

Győr - Mario Götze has made his long-awaited debut for FC Bayern Munich, coming off the bench to score twice in a friendly against Hungarian side Győri ETO FC. The attacking midfielder netted the second and fourth goals in a 4-1 victory, his first coming within three minutes of his arrival on the pitch to give the Bavarians the lead after they surprisingly fell 1-0 behind in the first half. Debut strike The 21-year-old's maiden Bayern strike came after some clever link-up play with his Germany colleague Thomas Müller, who released him behind the defence. Götze's first-time shot came back off the post, but he was well placed to poke home the rebound. The former Borussia Dortmund star's second effort, in stoppage time, was even better. Played into a one-on-one situation, Götze casually lifted the ball over the body of the despairing goalkeeper and wheeled away to celebrate with fellow young star Thiago Alcantara. It was a satisfactory afternoon's work for Götze, whose link-up with the Spaniard looked instinctive, while he also showed flashes of quality when combining with Xherdan Shaqiri, who scored Bayern’s other two goals, and Franck Ribery. *Didn't play at the w/e - has a fever or summink...
