WWIII. America in final preperations to attack Iran?
Park Life replied to Park Life's topic in General Chat
Can't speak for Fop but no, of course I'm not saying this, merely pointing out that Iran is a completely shit country. Women got the vote in Switzerland in 1971 btw. Well that's a relief I thought for a moment we migh have to invade Turkey rather than clearing the way for them joining Europe. Human rights watch: http://hrw.org/doc/?t=europe&c=turkey I don't want Turkey in the EU as it happens, but that's another matter. We get closer to the truth....I admire your honesty. Truth of what? You're relatively new to this board Parky and I think you'd be surprised how many of your assumptions of me are incorrect. Do you want Turkey as a member state of the EU? If so, why? He's alluding to something without actually backing it up. Aren't you used to that yet? Oh Alex! .....And I had such high hopes for you. That is a reply btw and not a comment..... I'm right though. Gutted to have lost your admiration btw. Get outta here!! Your still my favourite poster on N.O. -

I apologise if that post came across as making an assumption about you...Don't wish to at all. I don't think Turkey are ready atm, but in the long term I have no problems with it as long as they meet all the criteria. Living in Germany (whch has a relatively large Turkish population) I can clearly see the plus side and the negative aspects. The Germans often moan that the Turks still in the main buy Turkish newspapers and not German ones. If only they knew my Guardian habit... -

Human rights watch: http://hrw.org/doc/?t=europe&c=turkey Turkey is bad in that context, no doubt about it, but still nothing like as bad as Iran. IMO Turkey isn't close to being ready for entry into the EU, they were trying to get adultery made into an EU wide criminal offence as part of their entry negotiations. (although whether that only applied to women or not I’m not sure) And I can really see EU anti-discrimination laws against homosexuals and such going down oh so well there. None of that has anything to to with this issue of Iran and nuclear weapons though. Quite. Most of Turkey isn't even in Europe, and this is reflected by its culture, which, whilst being progressive by islamic standards, is a million miles behind what most western cultures feel is acceptable. So we have established that human rights abuses aren't neccesarily a precursor to invasion by the West. Good I've summat to work with now and there is no need to add Pakistan to the list. -

If you're going to try to build a strawman at least try to make it somewhat relevant to what has actually been said. I'm saying that Iran getting nuclear weapons is a bad, bad thing, much worse than just nuclear weapons in general (which are clearly a bad thing). And that Iran is not a nice place for many, many reason, nor the sort of place and sane person would want to have nuclear weapons. As opposed to your opinion that there's nothing wrong with nuclear weapons, it's no big deal if Iran started a nuclear war anyway and that Iran is a lovely place and the governments is absolutely brilliant (despite being very similar to an exaggerated and even more zealous and evangelical G.W. Bush in most aspects). I'd certainly say that all diplomatic and if needed economic measures to try and stop their nuclear program should be VIGOROUSLY pursued, but as for military action not so much... but I dunno if it was a direct choice between targeted air strikes on nuclear facilities OR Iran getting a nuclear weapon capability.... well there is NO good choice, only least bad ones. (Oh and Iran's human rights record is not "mixed", it's what we call "bad", maybe even "appalling" might want to look that one up….. but yes you clearly are confused. ) So, you are building a moral case against nuclear weapons? Christ that is original.....I must be blind.. -

Are Fop and Renton advocating going to war with Iran because of it's mixed human rights record? I'm confused..... Perhpas we should have invaded the Swiss...iirc Women didn't get the vote there till 1992 and they stole a lot of Jewish money as well.......... -
One of the advantages of getting a Euro manager. Far larger knowledge base and contact footprint. Yes but you wanted Curbs. I wanted Doll as well and look what happenned to him....

Agreed, not a good episode at all, I've found all the episodes based on the other island with the others dull as fuck, I much prefer the ones that leave you wondering what the fuck the island is all about IE the polar bear, the daft smoke monster and what the fuck the numbers are all about. Yes I have been drawn in by its surreal qualities...Has elements of "The Prisoner" to it in some ways.

I thought Arsenal outfootballed them completely if you will. Arsenal pass every team they play to death. No idea why they don't shoot now and again. I think Arsenal have probably been the best footballing team this season, but their attempts on goal are shocking. Bit strange really, considering they've got the best striker in the world ever, whose goals every week are goal of the century I tell you what Wenger's got another gem in Denilson, he's absolutely superb, and watching Diaby today as well, my oh my. Scouting the promised land.

There are certain things we agree on like election fraud in Florida and a general irritation about American foreign policy, where she has the upper hand as unlike us the Germans aren't in Iraq. But 9/11 is a no go area if we are out for a drink or summat.....

Thats what you call plausible deniability. I thought plausible deniability was not letting the official spokesman in on the plot, so that their denials of knowledge appear genuine. They have nothing to hide because they know nothing. I'm off to see The Good Shepherd in a bit, I expect the truth will finally be revealed by Hollywood It's excellent btw and a good primer for the 'dark side' ramblings in this thread. De Niro has issues.... A lot of names some of them important who have issues with the official story: http://www.wanttoknow.info/officialsquesti...ommissionreport "Many respected senior members of the U.S. military, intelligence services, and government have expressed significant criticism of the 9/11 Commission Report. Some even allege government complicity in the terrible acts of 9/11. Below are the highly revealing statements on this vital topic of over 50 prominent public servants with links for verification and further investigation." "U.S. House of Representatives Speech 10/19/05: "Intelligence officers ... identified [lead 9/11 hijacker] Mohammed Atta and three terrorists a year before 9/11, tried to transfer that information to the FBI, were denied, and the FBI Director has now said ... the FBI could have used it to perhaps prevent the hijackings. The 9/11 Commission totally ignored this entire story. I am a strong supporter of our military. I am a strong supporter of President Bush. I say all of that, Mr. Speaker, because ... there is something desperately wrong here. I have met with at least 10 people who fully corroborate what [intelligence officer] Tony Shaffer says. This is not [about] Republicans or Democrats. It is about what is fundamental to this country." http://curtweld... - Link to speech on Weldon's website Fox News 8/28/05: "'There's something very sinister going on here that really troubles me,' Weldon told Fox News on Thursday, blasting the 9/11 commission for not taking the claims more seriously. He said some panel members were trying to smear Shaffer and Able Danger. 'What's the 9/11 commission got to hide?'" http://www.foxnews.... - Fox News webpage with quote"

All of which Iran has! no.. it really doesn't. how many Jews enjoy freedom from oppression in Iran? Iran has the highest proportion of female MPs in the world and education is legally guaranteed to all, regardless of gender. There is no widescale persecution of Jews in Iran as you seem to be implying. It's very easy to lump Iran in with less developed Islamic countries, however I accept there problems. It just annoys me when the media seem so clueless about the Arab World. This is the thing Dan the average European knows very little about Iran. -
Would have been a freekick anywhere else. Dont think it would tbh, it was worse when Rio booted Shearer in the face in the semi final of the FA Cup a couple of years ago. Did Henry get on the pitch to stop the fighting? If so how was he able to do that? He souldnt be allowed the french fanny He was only just on the pitch a few yards from what I saw.

I think Lampard deserves a bit of credit to be fair. With most players if they had a little arsehole like Fabregas garbbing them by the neck and pulling them all over they would have given him the kicking he deserves, Lampard did well not to swing an elbow and smash his face in IMO. It was funny though. I take your point about Lampard. Oh it was very funny! I don't like to see Chelsea sneak these matches...
