    Cheerio

We like to experiment with the stalker/celebrity fantasies. No, in reality I just stopped because I thought it'd make a good photo. I like photos like that, just one person walking off. story of your life ??? I'm always the one doing the walking off, baby doll! Aye, into the back of buses, judging by those mugshots. It's people like YOU who are directly responsible for that man hanging himself.

  4. It's retalitation for some Iranians picked up in Baghdad recently. The 'diplomats'? And that was the Americans anyway... The 'Americans' warned us to be careful as the Iranians were looking for retaliation....As usual we think we know best... Be careful? By careful, the yanks mean don't do what you're there for. No thanks, no cowardice from our boys in the face of the enemy. We're hamstrung by our policy of non-aggression. Next time it will be different... .....don't really know about our policy but I'm more shoot everyone if in doubt in these situations. I do know some U.S. general criticised our boys for getting captured....Bit rich...

  8. I dont see the problem tbh. Saying exactly what i want him to be saying. Haven't you noticed he/they have been doing a lot of that just recently...
  9. Mendieta of central defensive mf fame....
  10. Hedging on all sides. The steady stream of propoganda continues unabated. Have we hired Saatchi and Saatchi? Or how many times can we slyly re-emphasise that we bought an England player...
  11. Or McClaren. He got the job on the back of 3 flukey results in Europe he has never looked like emulating. That's the top and bottom of it. Clawing back deficits against sub-standard European sides using the subtle tactical approach of ZOMG 4-2-4 FOR DA LAST HALF HOUR!!!1111, and they gave him the England job. A cursory glance at the league table would have shown them that Boro finished 16th that season, and that they were doing the club a favour by taking him off their hands. I don't think Allardyce is England manager material, but he'd be getting a LOT more out of this lot than McClaren is, and without any PR gurus on the scene. Apparently McClaren is picking up £2.5m a year btw - wtf?! Big Sam getting the England job would be good for England and for Newcastle - I doubt Bolton would be in the Top 6 for much longer if he left. He really is doing fantastically well there. As much as people go on about their style of football, I still think he would be the ideal man for the job here. He knows the league, so would be less of a risk than bringing someone from outside the premiership, but would also change the whole coachings set up here from fitness and diets to a decent scouting system at the club. If all this talk of us having less money to spend is true too, I have more faith in him spending it well than Rodders.. Aye.

  13. So it's taken 10 years to realise that last minute calls to 'friendly' agents isn't the way forward.
  14. Which is true, except even in the earlier incident the British forces were well into "their" side of things (as was eventually proven beyond all doubt once they managed to get enough of their equipment back – which was probably another reason the Iranians were so reluctant to hand back their equipment for so long, but they time they did no one was interested that the Iranian’s had trespassed and basically committed an act of war and/or piracy. ). In this latest case the Iranians were ridiculously into waters not belonging to them (as it is was in the more open sea area not the delta were things get more tricky). Of course the Iranians know that the British forces are ordered to act "passively", thereby being unable to do anything but be captured in the case of mild threat from them (although apparently this policy is now under review as it's resulted in incidents like this twice now – it just doesn’t look good for UK forces to repeatedly go though that, and in the end they will have to change policy to stop it, even if the other result is firing on or even sinking Iranian boats to do so). Plus as I said it is such a HUGE propaganda victory for them (one of the "captured" gun boats was put in their revolutionary war museum last time). Make no mistake the Iranian forces are looking for these opportunities to "capture" UK forces, even if it means trespassing quite a long way into Iraqi waters to do so. Shifty buggers. I wouldn't want to play poker against them, they certainly know how to get the very best out of any hand delt to them. Blair's getting tough. Must be released in a few days....He says.

Was meant to be getting turned into a film directed by Michael Mann, but seems to have slipped off the radar. He went and did Collateral instead. Quality.
  17. Though I think you could justify claiming that Souness had a bit of an old mates network, I don't think you can level that against Roeder. I am just a bit suspicious about the Montgomery (former West Ham mate, now Rangers) rumour I read somewhere else. Of course, Roeder isn't as bad in this regard as the tosser. And while it's understandable that you want to work with people you know I think you should put quality ahead of cronyism if you really want to install professionalism. He worked for us under Robson too I think so I doubt it is just jobs for the boys. I stand corrected. I forgot about it (even though he was just named yesterday as the one spotting Bernard at Lyon ). So I'll let Glen off this time (just this time). Especially as he is right that the club needs to catch up with the bigger clubs when it comes to spotting cheap talent. 10 years too late as usual....What next video performance analysis?.....Oh wait... Someone told me the story of meeting English scouts last week at an U15-international. He said they told him they would see all upcoming U17-qualifying matches played in Osnabrück. He then told them the matches weren't played in Osnabrück but in Spelle and Rheine. I was actually quite happy when I heard the story, because the first that entered my mind was "Newcastle United". Only our lot could be so incompetent to send scouts abroad with no idea where the matches they want to see are actually being played... I always thought the idea of this scouting lark was to hire natives who know the local game.
  18. I hope you see why that statement is a little iffy in comparison to what Roeder inherited. Glad you had a good laugh! Maybe you didn't understand the point I was making, perchance??? Rodders implied that he (and a lot of other managers make the same tired point) that they can't be judged until they manage a squad of their own, and not someone else's. Now then, should Alan Pardew get Charlton to avoid relegation, what will this say of his management?? Surely Charlton should go down as they have a shit squad of players and the last manager was taking them down? But hey, if they stay up, then this says to me that a different manager can get a squad of any players to play better than his predessor and this excuse of 'using someone else's players' is a poor excuse. [imo] Agree the 'not my players' thing is total smoke and mirrors...
  19. an FM legend along with Montilivio, as daft as it seems you could do a lot worse than use FM as a basis for scouting, Real Madrid seem to have picked up a number of recent FM star players, and Mourinho has an FM specialist on his scouting team. Gago, Higuain and Marcelo being the latest additions.. Fekin hell Gago has been a no brainer for a couple of years now....(in the real world)..
