  1. Roeder was serving the coffee apparently.
  2. Sure that'll be agreed before he comes.
  3. For the first time in a long while I'm quite excited. The Owen thing. I wouldn't be surprised if FS has filled him in on the situation already.
  4. For me: 1. Sack the backroom staff and fitness team. 2. Cancel the summer money making scam of touring some godforsaken place and give the players a proper break. 3.Get in 2 defenders.
  5. All this is such a red herring...Chelsea and Liverpool have bouts of long ball every match.
  6. Never mind the style of football so much, we could do with a bit (lot) of that I think. ...and not some nutter referring to himself in the third person. "Glen Roeder is unhappy about your performances. Glen Roeder won't mention some of you wouldn't play if we hadn't have those injuries, because Glen Roeder never mention injuries. You should go back on the pitch and fight, because that is what Glen Roeder always did. Now Glen Roeder would like to be as intelligent as Arsene Wenger so try to imagine what Arsene Wenger would say to you know. That's what I would like to say, but can't as I am not clever enough. Have I yet mentioned how I fought the brain tumour?"
  7. Season tickest are an advance payment that endorse the current management. Not buying one means you can withold your cash until you see something worth paying for. As countless fans keep pointing out, it is up to the team to provide something worth supporting. I know what you're saying and I agree with the principle. They also finance transfers over the summer though. Even more crucial with the window. Is the last sentence exonerating Roeder again btw? ...also our loans are guaranteed against ST sales.
  8. Aye. Would be a good coach/scout for us.
  9. This was a response to CG: "The board cant kick Freddy out as he is the board." Ok Vic.

  11. So what did you mean when you hoped he got the England job "for Newcastle's sake" at the time we were looking for a Souness replacement? The battle of the uber-memories. FWIW am very sympathetic to what HF is trying to say. And for people who say 'football doesnt work like that' then i have to disagree too. Players change games, like Martins out of the blue equaliser at spurs. We only went on to get the three points because of that goal, so i reckon you can look at it like that. What other variables are there like? I do think Allardyce will be better but am not that excited about the next 2 seasons under him. If we get him. You can't simply blank out one player though. If Bolton haven't had Anelka they would have played someone else, if Newcastle haven't had Martins they would have played someone else, too. Who knows what those players instead would have achieved? In the case of Martins someone else might have performed better during the Spurs game? Maybe he had performed better in those other games Martins totally went missing and won us results then? IMHO the whole "without the goals from Anelka/Martins this or that would have happened" is far too simplistic and as much speculation as everything else. Exactly, does this really need to be explained though? In the sense that people's opinions can be clarified yes. In the sense that Isegrim doesnt specify how Carrol would have potentially scored or Luque would have come on and turned the game, then yes, that would need to be explained too. If either of you want to push the logic you would both need to explain how there was someone else in the squad who could have turned that game to address the question of how we would have secured the points without Martins. All opinion of course. So if it doesnt work like that, how do you price a player? How can you begin to evaluate the value of a player without a subjective judgement on how many goals they will score / keep out / set up and hence points on the board. Of course its not precise but those are the 'implicit' judgements being made when the market price is set. The notion of a counter-factual argument shouldnt be lost on you Rents. Uh oh...Chez has engaged his higher brain.
  12. I agree (except of preferring Eriksson). Houllier is too meek would have lasted 5 mins in the pasty eating constest. And Eriksson wouldn't have lasted 5 mins without shagging the tea lady... I have a soft spot for the pesky Swede. Serioulsy people have to understand it is as much about the relative merits of the new manager and also how they will interact with Fatty.

  14. Nicos has scuttled back to his film theory bunker to cook up some kind of post Goddardian/ post structuralist counter strike involving the meshing of pro-zone and the mind of Mencia. Love you baby.
  15. I don't like seeing my money wasted on paying off a year of his contract and 3 years of Allardyces when I think they are about evenly matched. It's not that I like Roeder any more, I've said if Allardyce had replaced Souness and the debate was now "Shall we get Roeder?" I'd be saying no to that too. If either moves costs us nothing I'll be less against it, but still think it's optimistic to see him finish much higher than Roeder did last season. How the fuck can you say that Slug Boy & Sam are evenly matched? Bolton are 7th we are 13th. We have "better" individual players but Slug Boy hasnt got the working as a team, he hasnt got the defence communicating, he hasnt got a plan B, or even a plan fucking A. We were in the driving seat for the match as AZ and I know what a team with Big Sam would have done in that situation!! But Slug boy went into it in his own fucked up way and we got SHAFTED!! So how the fuck are we evenly matched? Yes we have had bad injuries but slug boy fails to work with the tools he has because he is a mong! I never said we're evenly matched with Bolton. I said Roeder is evenly matched with Allardyce. It's not a matter of wrong or right, it's just an opinion that Allardyce could have done no better this season with the players Roeder had. He may have performed better in the transfer window, but we'll have to see who he brings in over summer to judge that better. I've said it elsewhere, if Allardyce didn't have Anelka this year (like we never had Owen + many others) they'd currently be on 41 points. You've actually been sad enough to work out where they'd be without his goals? Jesus wept. Football doesn't work like that btw. ....and where would we have been without Martins (no first touch) goals. What if Bolton had Martins and we had Anelka? Chilli sauce or that creamy yoghurty stuff....?
  16. Has he!111 I thought that was quite touching meself so let it ride.

So you say they are evenly matched and then tell me he may have done better in the transfer market? I could have done better in the transfer market! Sam would have IMO got the team working better, he would have used the resources better than slug boy, he would have played players in correct positions etc IF, IF, IF If my brother had been a bird, he would have been my sister? So Anelka is at Bolton and they are higher than us and a better organised club than us. Slug boy needed to go end of situation? He did nothing for the club this season and his handling of certain players was shocking tbh They pushed Arsenal for the 4th CL spot right uptill the last few games. Some people have very short memories or even mamaries.

  20. You must be off your tits if you think Allardyce is the next Robbie Williams. I think he's an improvement and our best, realistic option. To stick with Roeder would be foolish indeed, for ST renewals alone. Allerdyce will save this club money in the short and long term imo. Clearly we must all agree if Hiddink or another of that ilk was a likely target of the pastie muncher we'd rather have him. IMO in the short to medium term Sam will stop the rot and start to build something, I'm sure Hughes would have as well. But on another note FS it is said does actually really want Sam and has admiration and respect for him and that surely will help in the communication and day to day descsion making.
  21. SSH also loves his club - that much is apparant. But before a top flight manager can be appointed, we have to become an attractive proposition to him. anyway - i said my bit earlier. I like SSH btw, so I hope my little interjections aren't taken in the wrong light.
  22. Reading through this two things stand out. SSH thinks Bolton are a top flight club. ....and Nicos was in love with Rodent.
  23. Because? Cause above everything we need organising and a re-vamp of the set up. Something he knows a thing or two about from his time at Bolton. His attention to detail and empahsis on player development and motivation and his overall psychological approach (something that some of our player sorely need). IMO Sam will put this background structure in place (and it wil take 2 seasons at least to start showing) and this will be the platform to his legacy. It is exactly what we need. For now the system of play and purchases and other 'on field' stuff although important ( and will be communicated to the side) is not quite as critical as making the base right to take us forward. That is why I feel at this moment he is a godsend. Yeah, but it took him some time. As I say, he finished 16th and 17th in the league. The "Geordie faithful" won't stand for that. We'll have him booed out of the job by Christmas. Have faith brother. Destiny awaits...I am sure of it.
