"Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore is under investigation by the U.S. Treasury Department for taking ailing Sept. 11 rescue workers to Cuba for a segment in his upcoming health-care documentary "Sicko," The Associated Press has learned. The investigation provides another contentious lead-in for a provocative film by Moore, a fierce critic of President Bush. In the past, Moore's adversaries have fanned publicity that helped the filmmaker create a new brand of opinionated blockbuster documentary. " Had to come, they have been looking for a reason to fuck him up for a few years now. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/05/10/...in2784703.shtml

Might be an expensive experience fella. Well I think the Lords are great and we should keep it as it is.....A second house full of nutters who are unpredicatable with a keen sense of fair play.

This is the court, not the upper chamber of Parliament. Sorry Law Lords. Got a bit carried away there. Good, we can push on with constitutional reforms then, now you've removed your objection. What voting for the Lords by Joe scratch me arse public? *Technically the Law Lords also sit in the House of Lords lets be clear on this. I'm perfectly clear on it....(been googling have we? )...but the subtitle to the thread betrays the fact that you clearly made the wrongful assumption that this was the upper house of Parliament. Nowt gets past me sunshine. Which I admitted in good time Sir! The Law Lords are life peers. My ex-girlfriend was a barrister. I've met more judges than you've has hot dinners. Shut it! Tell me why you want reform or move away. Fucking hell man Parky, you wanna shove that in the claims to fame thread! Human rights barristers and civil appeal barristers aren't great shakes tbh. I did drink with Mike Mansfield a couple of times. And gave him a run for his money.

"The House of Lords today delivered a resounding blow to British conduct in the war in Iraq by ruling that human rights law applies in the case of an Iraqi civilian who died in UK custody after alleged torture. The law lords decided that the UK was obliged to conduct an independent investigation into the death of Baha Mousa, who died after sustaining 93 separate injuries in Basra in 2003." The Tories had trouble with the old buffers who held up and defeated some of Maggies worst excesses and again recently they have been a bain in Bliar's side. The may kip in the afternoons and drink gallons of tea, but more often that not they know right from wrong and vote as such. http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,,2101835,00.html "In a four-to-one verdict, the lords ruled that the UK's obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights applied to the conduct of British troops in Iraq. They upheld a court of appeal ruling of December 2005 that the UK authorities had "extra-territorial jurisdiction" concerning Mr Mousa, a 26-year-old hotel worker."

Definitely. Aye that documentary when he was off to China to manage that team. He travelled with his dad, his agent, and someone else (might have been Five Bellies). They knew he was meeting the team management off the plane, and yet the lot of them got absolutely legless. Now either his dad or his agent should have been keeping him in check, but unfortunately they're all as thick as one another. Then Mel Stein was going out with him in China, and the two of them were getting bladdered, knowing that he had training sessions to take the next day. Obviously Gazza has a responsibility to himself, but when his personal management team is endorsing his behaviour he hasn't got a fucking hope. They still talk about his hi jinks while at Lazio. Great player unlucky with a couple of injuries and 'that' game against Germany. As I said before I think most of it is loneliness. Some of it stems back to his best friend as a child being run over and killed in front of him apparently. Hope he gets through this.

You're one of the best in my virtual hinterland.

The nerdier patrons of said establishement are hopefully dubbed the Tiananmen squares. Goldsmiths turn out many fine Jewellery wallahs.

Well said Rocker. The nature of life is a lot of people love seeing people who try to make a go of things fail. I honestly think they'll be disappointed on this occasion. We won't be a rival to TT, because you have a steady base of loyal friends who use this site, and that will remain the case. There is however a gap in the market for a site like ours, and we already have incl. the site we're merging with approaching 100 good lads, who are knowledgable about Newcastle to start us off, the likes of NE5. Through various connections we've contacted TBP in the toon, NE5 is a senior writer in The Mag which could give us even greater exposure, and as I've said on an even playing field, we've got an excellent chance. We've done a lot in three days, and if people haven't got anything nice to say, it says more about them after three short days than it does about us. Regarding Baines, I KNOW this deal is more or less done, in 2 or 3 weeks time, I can genuinely say we had an exclusive after 2 days, do you know any other site that can claim that? We're going to try our best and that's all I can say really. I have never made up a story in the past, and to be fair I can see why people would claim I'm making this up, i.e exposure for our site, but genuinely this is not made up and has killed two birds with one stone. If I find out anything else which in fairness is far from guaranteed about other players, I'll put them on our board when the merger is complete, because it's pretty clear how welcome any information is on here. Stevie mate: In The Know: Rumour Review - 28th May By Parky On Mon 28 May 2007 | (edit this) Over the last week as Big Sam has swapped his mobile for a desk phone and as N.O. can reveal a longish conversation with Mr Ashley, the strained links of the two dozen or so players said to be targets is beginning to solidify. The white melting heat of the shock takeover and the raised hopes of the toon faithful is about to start seeing some product with regard to signatures which I hear will be coming thick and fast. Perhaps even before Ben Haim, the Wigan left back Leighton Baines and a favourite of this writer will be signing for around £4-5m with added extras, it transpires that he was top of our aquisiton list all along ... You speculating or you have a source? Pure speculationtasitc....based on a very unreliable source who lives in the South of France. That is why I'm more inclined than other to belive your source. Well I'm still claiming the exclusive, yours was like the bit in the news of the world, eight pages in from the back, where there's about 20 articles all no bigger than two paragrahs, 19 of which turn out to be absolute bollocks. How dare you!!

Good luck to him and I hope he comes through this phase. More to do with the people around him an his loneliness imo.

iirc it was a cigar. Luque morphs into Bartontastic.

It seems strange to me that Allardyce is happy to take a huge risk on a £5.5m nutcase and try to use pyschology to get the best out of him yet won't even give a current player who is an ex-Spanish international and cost us over £10m the time of day. He'd be better off concentrating on the players who we already have and may be worth keeping before recruiting more problems for himself. Speaking of which, more and more I hope for the Barton deal to fall through. The guy is a complete twat. Give him a chance man. Sam knows what he's doing.

Sam continues to get everything right.
-
Seconded. ....and I hope you're right with Baines mate. You probably are. Take two guns into the shower.
-
When have we been unreliable? Perhaps we should move to Southampton, talk constant shite, pose in ridiculous photographs cuddling cats whilst pulling delinquent faces, and genuinely not have a clue, perhaps then you'd consider us to have more credibility. This is getting like the last scene in Cassidy and the Sudance Kid.

There is actually a rather good chance Stevie boy is right iyam.
