I didn't stay out afterwards for long - one drink as I was out with wor lass. I believe that was the general consensus though. I remember back in the day before the full horror of Vic became clear, he was asking GM if he could pop over for breakfast or summat.. Then GM started making out he was going on holiday...

Keegan still in the frame apparently.

Le Fil De Deschamps In/Out De Fonctionnaire!
Park Life replied to Andrew Flintoff's topic in Newcastle Forum
I was having my usual extended lie in while the radio was on and heard that. I instantly jumped out of bed and did a little excited run about the flat. Yes please. At last we'll have someone on the coaching staff who's probably still as good as most of the players, rather than having never been. Someone to demand respect. Even I would be happy with Zola, just because he was such a great player. I don't know anything about his coaching abilities though. And I still don't really get this whole Deschamps jizzfest. Actually bit of a serious question from myself, who do you want for the job mate? I know myself, I personally don't have a clue at the moment so I'm well and truly sitting on the fence so to speak. I am probably in your camp with not really having a clue. It's more about not getting excited by certain names. I mentioned in another thread that the most important criterion for appointing a manager is that he matches with the club and its philosophy. And I think there are managers despite their superb CVs or playing careers could be failures. And to be a bit arrogant, I've quite often been right with my feeling about managers. I live close to Stuttgart (among the most fickle football fans you can think). When they replaced Trapattoni with Veh, a manager who had more or less only managed lower league teams and been unemployed for a couple of years, I was more or less on my own when I thought, he would be successful because he would really match with the club. A bit over a year later he had lead them to a league title and to a cup final. I was sure about Klinsmann being a success for Germany or most lately Schuster doing brilliant at Madrid (I think I even mentioned it on N-O). I've been in many cases (Gullit for example) though... I've have to say I am not really a big fan of French, Italian and Spanish football and it is probably because of this that I think that most players/managers who were brought up in this environment would struggle at Newcastle. Though I know too little about the likes of Pellegrini for example. Being more nordic orientated I think a manager like Morten Olsen for example who plays a decent football could do a job. Or maybe someone like Michael Laudrup who is now at Getafe (and who I think I mentioned here already a couple of years ago). Of course my favourite would be van Gaal, although I do believe he is far too happy at Alkmaar (and hates English football) to take the job. Another person I always mention who imho would fit in well at Newcastle is George Burley. Or maybe now the likes of Mowbray or Magilton (a bit of an Ipswich school of bringing up a certain kind of managers). Have to stop here, because I've actually some work to do, I'll try to think of more names more of my liking. Mmmm...Good thinking. -
Did you bring your mother's coat with you for the full Vic experience? Is that really true did he turn up at the meet in his mums coat?

We need NSG back in this thread to give it another kick. Or I'm going to have to log in as Vic and fire off a few clips.

"They've got Yoda's an' shit on them!" "Only if round is funny!" Raizing Arizona is class. It's dull as fuck. It's pretty poor, never made my faves list. Have you seen it though? Don't believe I have. No I have really. -

Whats good about it Alex? The trailers dont inspire me much but its very highly rated. I just loved it. It's a 'slow burner' if you like but I thought the tension was built superbly all the same. Tommy Lee Jones was great as the sheriff and the guy who played the hitman was excellent too. Apart from a few funny bits of dialogue it lacks the humour found in a lot of Coen Brothers films. 2J was spot on when he likened it in 'feel' to 'The Three Burials of Melquides Estrada' (sp?), if you've seen that. Depends if you like that sort of thing really as despite the body count, not a lot happens over the 2 hours or so. On the surface yes. But in reality no. More like 'Blood Simple'. Yes / No to what? Haven't seen 'Blood Simple' btw. ....not like 'The Three...' Blood Simple is th Cohen Brothers first serious film. Better than No Country imo....Although No Country is very good. Also Blood Simple is done in very textured black and white which I just know you will love. Black and White?? Are you commenting on films you haven't seen again? Or is the contrast on your tv broke? You're right I'm getting it mixed up with the B&W they made a few years ago. ....anyway BS is my fav Cohen Brothers film...Pisses over the entire back catalogue. It's a very dark colour in my defence..ho ho No worries. I couldn't sit through Blood Simple myself. I need to give it another shot because it was years ago that I watched it and I was only little. Looked horribly cheap in a real 80's sort of way as I recall it. It has their energy. Give it another go Nicos I beseech you! -
What do you want to know? Geordiemessiah would be your man. i know Alex went just want to see if he had a good time. Started a thread instead of PM Full of tourists, students and jocks innit? Case closed. Are you joking? Any time I go through I stuggle to find a Scot. A bonus surely. My fav place is Musselborough or however you spell it.

Realistically who in Italy pays tax properly?

This is the best and funniest thread on here since Gemmas sandwich thread.
-
My first GOLD thread I think it would be the ultimate funny if you were banned of here as well iirc you were 'banned' from N.O. as well Shinsplints.
-
We are fast approaching the point where this thread will have to be considered for gold status.

Agreed, I can't really be arsed replying to him anymore. When all someone has as ammunition against you is a TV interview from 3 years ago and a relationship from a year ago, then you know you're not doing bad in life. This is how I see this ending. You'll flunk the interview and then your dark side will take over and you'll start wondering about recent events (how maybe you were put a little off balance). You seem quite 'happy go lucky' but a darker mood will start to dominate, you'll start to see strange patterns in your Maths work and catch yourself looking at "A beautiful mind" in the video shop. You'll start getting letters addressed to other people but the name on the envleope will seem strangely familiar...You will feel cold in the day but sweat at night...An ad about hunting knives will catch your eye...

That is why I'm still surprised he hasn't bought in one or two senior football figures as advisors or non-executive board members. Btw I really don't think SA was sacked in the normal use of the word. -
