  1. Aye because its been talked about on N-O since last night...... I only asked Tom to delete a thread I started cause it didn't look 100% to me that the deal was done. FWIW the rumours started on Wed.
  2. Imagine the shit particles the standers allow to escape into the general atmosphere in the very act of standing. To be honest the very notion of standing has never occured to me in all my 49.999 years of existence, until I read this thread, fucking wierd IMO When all those years ago a manape first stood and surveyed his surroundings, the die was cast. Standers are the future.
  3. TBf DB that was with Carrick and a fit King.
  4. Woodgate & Modric Duff and ? Parker. Yeh thought so. You could have had both. However you didn't exactly ''beat'' us to Woodgate but for libel reasons I cant post why. YOu have to be careful you don't cross the lines there Tom.
  5. TBH id rather we didnt spend any money than waste 11mil on shite like dos santos You're right. All the money the club are saving can be distributed back amongst the fans Face it lads, Utd, Chelsea, Pool all have massive squads filled with quality. The reson L'@rse flagged so bad was they couldnt cope with all those comps with such a thin squad. I know it is not fair but it is true. But the game is to build in a clever way to close the gap and not panick buy or overtretch on the way which can set you back to square one. If Roman walks away from Chelsea they will soon come back to earth. Liv and Man Utd have huge debts, if either have one bad season with inj or loss of form to key players and miss the CL they will be in serious trouble, especially Liverpool who are already financially fully extended. Totally agree but 40mil should get you six good players if spent wisely. That would be a start that shows some intent. I think we will spend about 30m net.

  7. Undoubtedly, and the irony is that the very best thing for everyone (the general public and themselves) is that they get a good kicking. It'll teach them more than they'll ever learnt in school and be much more a deterrent to other behaviour than the law could ever be. Barton's real downfall is that he doesn't employ a minder like Bellamy does to get him out of situations like that. Society needs a minder against people like Barton...........................and it`s called prison. Suggesting that any 16 year old deserves to have his teeth smashed by a grown man should also carry a sentence. I think that's in the next Labour election manifesto to be fair, 10 years without parole (ironically much longer than you'd ever get for actually doing it ), right along with not voting for them putting you in a higher tax band (they learned that clever one from Islam ). But quite seriously all I can say is you've clearly never lived in Liverpool. I however have lived in Liverpool and whilst the city has many positives its scallies are NOT one of them, the only thing they understand or respect is physical threat, and in fairness it's not done so bad a job for over the 100,000's of years of human evolution. I have, but I really don`t think beating anyone is a solution to a problem. I think human evolution would be better served by educating people not to batter each other, rather than continuing to do so. DonĀ“t you?............surely it is one of next steps in our evolution, meaning what went on prior to it was not ideal. Well it was clearly one of the posh parts then. "I'm going to call the police, and enrol you in a self betterment course" isn't so very effective when one of them is trying to mug you. And the problem with evolution is that it is NOT a ladder with steps to "betterment", it is simply becoming most suited for the environment a lifeform inhabits. In the case of chavs this explains a LOT, as they are perfectly suited to their environment, and is probably the main reason no one will ever be able to educate them into extinction. The key is raising their level of environment, their expectations and their education. Battering them and telling them they deserve it is not 'evolution'. It is backward. The key surely is grabbing them and taking them to a quiet place and cutting the tips off their fingers with pliers as you enjoy a cocktail or two..No? [barton/]
  8. What the article is trying to infer isn't really backed up by the KK quotes. KK is still just saying what he said a month ago ie we need a few new players. He isn't saying anything about foundations and he has never either said we need to buy 8 players. Nothing article really.
  9. Bollocks, you're changing the rules to suit now Standing is with straight back... Fuck off. Standing is holding all your weight on your feet. You're talking about standing straight. I still don't 'stand' even by your theory.... Never mind coming in here 'wisecracking' when you've got winnets like fucking ferrero rocher swinging from your starfish. Surely he thinks he's spoiling us.
  10. Stop it! Danny you mentioned Malbranque as a Comolli success, you don't think Modric's transfer will undermine him and his position in the squad? Yep I think both Malbranque and Jenas have to work for their places now on the arrival of Modric. DB taking the deals in the pipe into account what would be your preferred starting 11 next term?
  11. Why are Barca letting Dos Santos go? It will take a while for Modric to acclimatise to the PL. I wouldn't expect too much from him first season. Why did Barca let Fabregas go? Of course its a gamble mate, every transfer is but he has the tools to do the job but he will never start for them with the attacking taslent they have at their disposal. How much is Dos Santos? My worries about him is that he just is soooo tiny. Very skillful player agreed. Commolli totally fucked up transfer wise last season, so we'll see. Really? I consider the Hutton / Woodgate / Gilberto winter window a success. It seems the natives are restless and the and the saltbeef isn't sliding down smoothly.... "I am seriously beginning to think that Comolli is either an Arsenal spy on a long-term mission to secure the permanent downfall of their North London rivals, or a bumbling fool who was fortunate enough to uncover a dark secret about Daniel Levy, and has agreed to keep schtum in exchange for continued employment. His record in the transfer market is nothing short of pitiful, and the fact that he is even in charge of transfers has only been made absolutely clear in recent months, in the fallout from the unforgivable sacking of Martin Jol. His rare successes, such as Dimitar Berbatov, are far outweighed by a startling number of overpriced and underperforming failures, most of whom cost the club obscene amounts of money. Assou-Ekotto, Zokora, Rocha, Kaboul, all bought on the recommendation of Comolli, and all failing to take the club any closer to long-term success. It's not only his apparent incompetence that angers me though, it's his apparent pettiness, a trait clearly shared by numerous individuals at the top of the Spurs hierarchy. If some newspapers are to be believed, he could well have advised the then England boss Steve McClaren to drop Paul Robinson simply because Robbo had dared to question the board's disgraceful behaviour with regards to Jol. Did he not for a second consider what being dropped for England's most important game in years might do to Robinson's already fragile confidence? Now it seems Defoe and Bent are to be the latest casualties of both a man and a club with absolutely no idea how to run a successful operation. Stewart Downing may well be the answer to our problems on the left side of midfield, and I am happy to give him the chance to prove the doubters wrong, but whilst one area of the side is being improved, why are we weakening another? Jermain Defoe is not one of the most popular Spurs players by accident, it's because he consistently scores vital goals, and has proved time and time again that he is a rare talent. He has publicly stated his desire to stay at the club, despite limited first-team opportunities, and the chances of replacing him with someone of a similar standing are slim indeed, so what is to be gained from offloading him to one of our Premier League rivals? Bent, meanwhile, has been given very little chance to prove himself worthy of the Ā£16.5million price-tag that Comolli and the board presumably sanctioned just six months ago, so again, one has to ask, what has happened in those six months that has made him now surplus to requirements? It can't have anything to do with the change of manager, as it is well documented that Jol was not particularly enamoured with the signing in the first place, whilst Ramos has had but a handful of games to see Bent in action, three of which he scored in." There are alot of Spurs with that view. As I say, every signing is a gamble I would say half of the players he has signed have been good: Dimi / Malbranque / Woodgate / Bale / Hutton Some have been average: Zok / BAE / Gilberto /Bent Some have been poor: Kaboul / KPB I think he has done an OK job. I'm dismayed by your honesty I wanted to go up a gear. Bale is a very good signing. And this Palace kid is very good.

  16. They're probably semi-standing but in denial. **See my previous post.
  17. It's probably a low self-esteem issue. It's definitely a co-ordination issue if nowt else. Basically unable to stand and wipe at the same time. You want to see some of them trying to run and control a football ffs. Seriously I'm onto something there-try picking a five-a-side team out of that sitters roll of shame, you're having a fucking laugh. I'm happy to go with it, especially if we're moving into the realms of a Eastern European style Pavlovian based drooling spectacle. A case could be made for a semi-reflexive deep subconscious response to a hidden anxiety of arse rape (fear of standing) during toileting activities.
  18. Tbf he's been creating debate around the issues regarding the how we want football to develop and how to deliver the game in a fairer manner. He`s a power hungry free-loading bureaucrat who has achieved next to nothing throughout his tenure. This current rant is also a pie in the sky. Strange a few years ago people were saying what a deep thinker he was about the game. Probably the same people who now think he can change EU labour laws. Are these the same labour laws that are flouted by every single EU country?
  19. It's probably a low self-esteem issue.
  20. The 'parents' aspect to this debate is the biggest red herring in Christendom. Tell me sitter how do you part your cheeks to get good access and follow through? That's right you don't... Evolution will take care of the sitters. FACT.

  22. North Americans, Central Americans, or South Americans??? The over-patriotic ones, which is pretty much all of them/you. It is pathetic, especially when you take their extreme lack of history and heritage into consideration. I must admit I am overly patriotic but my patriotism stems from my heritage and towards all things British, as it is with the majority of expats. I have been domiciled in California for 48 years and have not taken out American citizenship. On Poppy Day, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or any other day I find appropriate, I fly the Union Jack outside my house. My avatar should tell you something 'Offshore'. Is Anaheim where Bud is made? You're thinking of Anheuser Busch aren't you? They make Bud. St. Louis-based I think. That's the one.

  24. I live on the coast as well (I live in Florida) but I was raised in Georgia which is considered by many to be the heart of the south and the region that you are referring to. The "cultural advances" that you list is a bit one sided IMHO. If we are referring strictly to the regions that you mentioned (South and Central) then you should also take into account the other "cultural advances" as well. It is a shame that you didn't list Martin Luther King Jr., William Faulkner (won the Nobel Prize in Literature), Tennessee Williams, Harper Lee (Pulitzer Prize winner), and Truman Capote. You also list country music as "trash" coming out of the south. Country music is a direct descendent of folk music from the British Isles. However, the music references are really down to opinion isn't it? Fair play to you if you don't like country music. There are other types of music that came from the south that one should take into account as well especially rock and roll. Artists such as Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, James Brown, etc. NASCAR? I actually recommend going to a NASCAR race. I took a friend of mine from the UK who is a rally/formula 1 fan when he was visiting this past summer and he had a great time. There is more to racing than what meets the eye (in any type of racing) and the same goes for NASCAR. If you don't know the details of it and only see it as men driving and only making left turns than that is up to you. But to state that it is trash is the equivalent of someone saying that soccer/football is crap because all they do is run around kicking a ball and scoring only two times in ninety minutes. I am willing to bet that you would call them ignorant and maybe try to explain the nuances that make the game exciting to you. As for lawnmower races ( ), grits, scrapple, Cracker Barrel,... those shouldn't even register on the "culture radar". Hardly huge examples of "Americana". Is that one book wonder Harper Lee? I wouldn't classify Truman Capote as much of a writer either. Got anything a bit more recent I should look out for??
