News UK news Crime 10.30am BST Naomi Campbell pleads guilty to assaulting airport police Anil Dawar and agencies guardian.co.uk, Friday June 20, 2008 Article history Naomi Campbell arrives at Uxbridge magistrates court on charges of assault. Photograph: Doug Peters/Empics Supermodel Naomi Campbell today pleaded guilty to charges that she assaulted two police officers at Heathrow airport. The 38-year-old also admitted using threatening and abusive language to cabin crew and another public order offence at Uxbridge magistrates' court this morning. Campbell, who arrived at the court in a chauffeur-driven Mercedes wearing a dark suit and sunglasses, was charged in relation to a row over luggage when she was removed from a flight bound for Los Angeles in April. Prosecutors said that the model assaulted two police officers, one of them on two separate occasions. She could be jailed for up to six months and/or fined up to £5,000 for each count of assaulting a constable if she is found guilty. In total she pleaded guilty to six charges. Her spokesman, Alan Edwards, said before the hearing: "She feels what happened was regrettable and she has come to court today to put her side of the story." Campbell was flying with British Airways from Heathrow's recently opened Terminal 5 to the US for a memorial service on April 3 when she was arrested. The hearing continues. She needs a harsh lesson. Give her the 6 months the dopey cow.

Smoke an-a-da-mirrors. Ashley camp re-releases same single again.

Probably cause there isn't a lot to be revealed. I don't think Ashers realises that this time of year supporters are only interested in one thing: New players! -

Might as well whack this in here: Magpies To Wenger: £15mil For Martins The future of Obafemi Martins appears increasingly uncertain following reports that Arsenal have revived their interest in the Newcastle United striker… »Comments (17) Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a long-time admirer of Martins and has been linked consistently with a move for the Nigerian international over the past two seasons. The time could not be riper for the Frenchman to seal a deal, as his squad would be alarmingly bereft of firepower should Emmanuel Adebayor succumb to the advances of AC Milan. But The Sun reports Magpies are demanding ₤15million for the 23-year-old – a price Wenger is not prepared to match. Meanwhile, the former Internazionale hitman has grown weary of the constant speculation surrounding his future, having also been linked with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona. A source close to Martins said: “Oba just doesn’t know what’s going on any more. “He loves the Toon fans so much but one minute Newcastle are desperate for him to stay, the next they are trying to sell him. “But he would love to play for Arsene Wenger.” Mike Maguire -

From Times Online June 20, 2008 Mike Ashley unveils his blueprint for Newcastle George Caulkin Newcastle United may not have been active participants during the transfer window, but impatience is yet to set in at St James’ Park. In fact, impetuousness is something they are determined to avoid. At a club where there have been panic buys in abundance and marquee signings galore, where no meaningful trophies have been spotted for 39 years, there is a firm desire to do things differently. The Times has been given an insight into the vision which Mike Ashley, the club’s billionaire owner, is gradually implementing on Tyneside. It is not what some supporters will have expected. Towards the end of last season, Terry McDermott, Kevin Keegan’s lieutenant, spoke of a “big re-launch” being planned for this summer, but Ashley’s chequebook will not be the primary weapon. Ashley spent his first 12 months at Newcastle finding his feet and, on occasion, finding more than he bargained for. He discovered and paid off a debt which had spiralled to more than £70 million. Under Chris Mort, the outgoing chairman, a strategic review of all club affairs was undertaken. Bridges were built with fans and community leaders, the Academy was re-stocked and taken seriously, the training ground is being updated and, of course, Keegan was appointed. Under the previous, discredited regime, transfers had been planned and negotiated by directors, their family-members, agents and hangers-on. When Freddy Shepherd left, they followed. The arrival of Dennis Wise, Tony Jimenez and Jeff Vetere to lead Newcastle’s recruitment department was perceived as a threat to Keegan’s position, but they were merely replacing Shepherd’s acolytes. Whether they fare any better is another matter, or course. But could they fare much worse? Newcastle have finished the last four seasons 14th, seventh, 13th and 12th in the table. During that spell they have spent millions in transfers and wages on the likes of Michael Owen, Jean Alain Boumsong, Albert Luque, Damien Duff, Scott Parker, Alan Smith, Obafemi Martins, Joey Barton and Emre Belozoglu. Certain individuals have performed better than others, but nobody would argue that the philosophy of buying stellar names has provided value. Don't really like the sound of most of it. Lot of stuff the club should be quietly getting on with anyway trumpeted as new broom philosophy. Ultimately they will be judged primarily on the first team players they buy.

If you look closely a German player treads on his foot as he runs past. Make no mistake. It was a foul. But if you saw the slow motion then he went down, looked up to the referee and just then started to pretend it to be like it was a really serious foul. I won't dispute the yellow card, which was totally deserved, because it was a tactial foul, but the way Ronaldo acted made me wanting some player to delibaretly kick his head... I'm not talking about the foul, after it (Freidrich) trod on his foot as he ran past. That does hurt. Normally a red if the ref sees it. I'm smiling a little Ise. A German moaning about theatrics? Ballack is probably as good at feigning as any of them.

Shearer Wants To Speak To Rovers - Your Thoughts?

I wonder why, since they do it with everyone else Eh? Who have they stopped? They always seem to be finding excuses to waive the rule from what I can see. They kicked up about Rodders and Southgate, didn't they ?? Yeah, they went on a massive whinge, cried, sulked and moaned and then found out nobody gives a fuck what they think and the prem allowed both to manage anyway! So either they're being massively inconsistent for soem reason and this time arent kicking up a fuss, or they've finall relaised they have no power at all and have given up, so don't see it worth challenging Ince if he gets the job! one of my mates came up with a decent theory, that the predominantly white organization wouldn't dare stand in the way of a black english manager moving into the premier league Good. Good that they would change their rules/opinion because he's black? They should treat him exactly the same as Roeder and Southgate, its patronising to do otherwise implying a black guy needs their help where the other two didnt. They should at least have the principals to stick to their original view even if it was pointless and nobody of any importance listens to a word they say! How long did it take your mate to cook up this theory? I mean it is so complex and well thought through I nearly missed it. Ince is black you say? -

Has he blown it for player of the year with his CL and Euro no shows? Let's hope so! Simao looked their most dangerous player in this mini-tournament. Deco oozes class.

What's your gut feeling about KK, is he happy? Again it's very hard to say, there's just so much speculation and so little fact about. I just hope he is on board with some of the supposed changes though, because it's a lot different to what he was supposedly promised when he was brought here, and if he's not then not only may he walk, but even if he doesn't if he's not enthusiastic about it all then every area may suffer even more. What's a bit worrying is Keegan's public comments have continually downgraded the number of players he "needs", and that's before losing players from last years squad. Losing Viduka to injury at the end showed that Keegan's cobbled together formation (whilst pretty decent when all fit) had almost no strength in depth last season, so even running with that is going to require some investment, playing in maybe a more traditional Keegan way even more so. Can there be any more mad sight in football than Wisey grinning at ya with a pen and contract in hand? Let Wise and the others find them but let KK do the negotiations ffs!!!

Does that translate into us buying some goodish players? Difficult to say from a hard nosed business perspective. When the time is right, he will act. He is known as a maverick so will probably do something big when you least expect it. These are dark arts Parky, planets need to be aligned etc. First signing anounced on the 20th then (Universal time 23.59), can't get more aligned than that.

It's strange some days I wake up and think all will be alright and some days I have a dark feeling about KK and his relationship with Ashers. This long break of KK's (3 weeks now actually) hasn't helped allay my fears. Still hope for the best etc......

No Keegan, no money, no sexy players. Anything else happening will be a bonus.

So is the East Coast Mainline on the way up to Berwick. I'm trumping that with the coastal train ride from Barca to Tarragona.
