That would be a steal.

Quite possibly the daftest rubbish I've read in ages. Congrats! Do you care to actually try to counter anything I posted? I've noticed that to be one of your critical failings. You disagree with any criticism but you can never say why. He don't know why do he?

Difficult to tell whether you're clueless, on the wind-up or both there. How very dare you! I stand by that statement. Clueless then Arshavin isn't even a midfielder, he doesn't graft particularly hard and on top of that Modric is pretty lightweight. Arshavin would presumably be Keane's replacement should one leave and the other come in. Actually he has played various positions in his career including as an attacking midfielder in the hole. After watching Modric play a lot deeper role in the Euros I am sure we could accomodate both. Blind leading the blind an all that Arshavin seems more ambitious than that. They wouldn't have it any other way.

Should we get in though? They're only asking 20m Euro's. Peanuts really. I don't think I've seen enough of him to say, how about they sign Moutinho and we shall take Arteta off their hands? That's actually a fucking good idea. Moutinho is highly rated by Scolari btw. Then I expect Chelsea to be making a bid. Said he weren't interested last week. Flicking through a Kaka scrapbook as we speak.

What if they lost Stevie G? Or Torres.

Ok let's try and get past that. You'll be bringing up old posts from another forum from a year and a half ago next. :D What, to prove that you got something right once? Did t'internet really exist back then? Yes. No.

Lot of talk recently about Moutinho, however I am reliably informed they have whacked in a serious bid this morning. Question is should we get in there?

Torres sweetie Liverpool will struggle for top 4 this year. Games against Villa, Pompey, Everton and now Man City are getting harder with every passing season. I'll be honest we're a season behind those four now. I'd say all four of those and possibly Spurs (depending on who leaves) will push hard for top 4 this year.

The problem is these days a striker who can control a ball at pace is min £10m. If one becomes available then i think we have the resources to be in for them. Am still confident that we will spend more than last summer. Hope so.

The 'Anelka conversation' is becoming a pre-season ritual.

This is true, a few squad players wouldn't go amiss. i think he's just praying to get 4 new players, let alone 4 quality ones You can see he's not that involved in transfers. He might have given a list a month ago, but analysing these comments - the signings are in the hands of others. What part of these comments? The way everytime he's interviewed he harps on about the size of the squad. Everytime. Sure, but jumping to the conclusion he isn't that involved is a bit far fetched tbh. You may be right, but I wouldn't draw it from these comments. As for "everytime". He's just done a couple of interviews over the weekend for the first time since the end of last season anyway. He might be involved in transfers and still harp on about it - ie shouldering the blame, not shifting it. Tbh because of the rare public comments we just don't know what is going on behind the scenes. That's probably the main reason people are reeling in conspiracy theories... Fair enough. What do you think though? Will we get the players?

Let's wait and see Rafa's well into the running of it by now and is unlikely to repeat past errors being the schrewd man that he is. If we hadn't drawn so many at the start of last season we'd have been in the running. Torres and Keane & Co will ensure that that won't happen this year. What past errors would those be? Buying players who aren't good enough? Because he seems ready to spunk big money on Robbie Keane and Gareth Barry. I like those two, especially the former, but I don't think they're going to win you the league by being added to the squad. He can only buy what he can afford so that is hardly an error. He took a while to get used to the English league and it took time to undo the shambles Houllier left it in. I consider the amount of rotation he does to be a mistake and I think he was too slow in realizing that we were short a bit of grit in the prem. That appears to be changing though. This will be his last year, so he better get it right.

Benny is the barrier - just too defensive. They also go on dodgy runs with the away form. For me, they've never had a good enough squad to win the league in the time he's been there. Which is probably as much down to not having quite enough money or having the genius of Wenger when it comes to unearthing talent to compete with the other 3. Broadly agree. And also lacking that killer player, although Torres is getting there and Gerrard normally has a good run till he starts getting tired around Christmas.

He's also still adding third rate players like Voronin and this year Degen to his squad... Degen no good Ise?
