  1. Nail on head there. If we are supposedly going to be better organised, then transfer targets will have been set out and the offers, however derisory will have been made. It hasnt come off and now we are looking at another list and it seems like we are struggling even to get those. The fact of the matter is that we are short in most departments, particularly defence which most concerns me. I don't think they factored in getting turned down by 70 million players.
  2. I would have voted for Hughes but for the fact Blackburn played so much bits and pieces football last year.
  3. The problem is, most of you won't have a grounding in business, so you won't know what an executive director is, however rest assured I'm right. Fuck off. What do you do for a living like? Oh no. Since t' mines closed, Im claiming diasibility, sitting round in my underwear drinking eight Newcy Broon a day, posting on here. Stevie, stop opening multiple accounts.
  4. Shows how much you know about the game. What, so he didn't move to PL and he took a job for less money did he? Aye, I reckon you're right. No he moved for a directors role at Newcastle. Im sorry but no one can tell me they would leave the hot seat at a massive club at Leeds to be a scout at NUFC no matter what the pay off. There's more to his role than just being a scout though, which is what people are actually telling you. That's ignoring the situation at Leeds which mitigates somewhat against the fact it's such a 'massive club' as you put it. He's also based in London and I would imagine it's a much less stressful job. I'm speculating here of course, but so are you. Exactly he is, he is the director of football, all signings have to go through him. Don't wrote him off until you see what he can do. Danny yet again you keep calling Wise DoF, he's not as others have told you. If you honestly don't wish to be seen as a WUM don't keep trying it on with comments you know aren't true. And why did he leave Leeds? I think you might find one of the major factors now sits on Spurs bench and Wise knew he wasn't up to the job of manager. Yup.

Im sorry but no one can tell me they would leave the hot seat at a massive club at Leeds to be a scout at NUFC no matter what the pay off. He's not a scout though, his role is what you would call a general manager who gets the final say on things at the academy and is responsible for the scouts, gets to bring in young players for trials etc. Which to me is a good thing considering that Keegan had very little interest in the youth team and reserves when he was here previously. If you're saying Jimenez and Vetere are first team player spotters and then KK runs the rule over it then I'd be happy with that. If as you are intimating he is also involved in discussions with players all the better. What niggles me though is his constant reiteration that he needs more players. Who is he talking to? Himself?
  6. Now we're getting somewhere. As I said earlier it will be seen as a quirk of history this multi-millionaires musician lark. I don't think it will though Parky. I think you'll get people making money for selling stuff, simple as. I mean it's still the tiny minority of people of who make money out of it though. And even if they don't sell much in the future in terms of material, they'll tour and make money that way. Look how much people are prepared to pay for a live show now. It's fucking outrageous. Essentially though it's just people at the top (and by top I mean popular) providing a product people want. Well as long as we're moving away from the 'poor artist' bollocks in this thread. I'd even question whether most of the product is what people want. I feel ill when I see the likes of Bono pushing a credit card. I think they should be paid for what they produce though, you know whether you think they've got too much money already, whether you think Bono's a cock-end, etc. It's all a bit subjective. To me, they produce something that people enjoy and it's reasonable to then expect to be paid for that. It's all very well saying it's a 'labour of love' and all that but the artists are losing out. I have a lot less sympathy for the record companies who have always shafted the artists and who charge too much for the product anyway, thus helping top create the black market in the first place. Fine lets pay them the £1 or so they get from a mass produced cd direct. You have to ask why they don't lobby the record companies to charge fair prices or stop reproducing endless compilations or spending millions on marketing..Seriously charging £12-15 for a cd is an outraqe. That's a 1/3 of the average shopping bill for a struggling family. Are those kids seriously expected to go out and buy cd's? Hopefully there will be more Radiohead type downloads and I'd be more than happy to pay £3 for that even with the dodgy quality...The only music I've downloaded this year infact, apart from a couple of uploads from Indi and Decky.

  8. People get what they deserve I don't worry for one second about that.

  10. Good post. Nice post script too. I don't consider 99% of singers and musicians as artist at all. The vast majority of poets, writers and filmakers live and die broke, you don't see long internet arguments about and pity parties regarding their needs. The whole music consumer market is clearly set up so Decky-Joe-Epstien-Miggins can buy his 25th Rolls Royce while charging upto £15 for a cd. Get the fuck out of here. They're exactly the same as most singers and musicians in that regard, i.e. they don't make much money out of it unless they're very lucky. The fact that you don't consider them artists is neither here nor there. Let's cut all this artists shit then. Most bands are manfactured and deliver derivitive garbage. If anyone is stealing in this triangle its record companies from artists and there is quite some case history to prove that.

  12. When did it happen this artists making millions for getting up and drawling into a mike?
  13. Ajax have been doing it since the 80's.
  14. All well and good and I think we know what a dof does mate. But the the question here is does Wise have the right profile for such a role? Is Dennis Wise DoF though? I mean is that his actual role? I've interpreted it to be a glorified scouting role. If such is the case then Keegan will still take any suggestions under advisement and play a major role in the signature of players. I'm keen to see how the young players we picked up last year turn out, as Guitierrez and Guthrie still have the taste of KK signings. It says something that none of us are really sure what the actual roles are and who is involved to what level.
  15. The fact is recording company's have done a lot of illegal and morally iffy stuff in their attempt to impose their 1950's business model on a new century and new world (which by your own admission should mean they have NO right on this issue ). The fact is a complete innocent person has every right NOT to have their privacy invaded, to be monitored, and indeed illegal dangerous software to be installed on their PC without their knowledge just in the pursuit of coporated greed (again the "artist" issue is a canard - as was shown in the recent EU royalties extension). The fact is I'm right and you know it, although you clearly don't like it. Most record companies don't give a rats arse about 'artists' tbf. U2 still only get 11p a single and around a £1 an album iirc.

  17. Park Life

    Mad Men

Been recommended to me by both the above posters and I'm happy to report that it is utter quality. So far upto S1 ep 4. I'm loving the high production values and the lingering camera work. The character development is detailed and rewarding. Very good so far. Oh and they smoke tabs constantly which I like.
  18. If he doesn't deliver this summer would you keep him?
