I heartily agree that Nigel Farage and Trump are grotesques. But the free-traders peddle their own untruths. They have insistedthat black is white, even as the voters beg to differ. In their seminar rooms, their TV studios and their Geneva offices, they have perpetrated the ideological sleight of hand that equates internationalism with free trade, and globalisation with untrammelled corporate power. The result has been misery for workers from Bolton to Baltimore to Bangladesh. But it has also left the six-figure technocrats who supervise our economic system pushing a zombie idea. Because that is what free trade has become: an idea leached of life and meaning but stumbling on for want of any replacement. We have a globalisation for bankers, but not for children fleeing the bombs of Syria. Security for investors but not for workers." "To see how debased the notion of free trade has become, look at the deal between Canada and the EU that is currently being voted through Europe’s parliaments. It’s called the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (Ceta), and the fact that you can see it at all is largely down to leaks of the documents, which forced the European commission to publish,. That is after the negotiations were conducted for five years in secret, with even the directives kept hidden from the hundreds of millions of citizens affected. This is no minor technical work. Provided it is passed in time, Ceta will apply to Britain too – and parts of it will affect Britons’ lives even after we’ve “taken back control”. It has been billed as “a backdoor for TTIP”, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, which collapsed this summer amid public opposition both in Europe and the US. Like TTIP, Ceta includes the investor-state dispute settlement system – which hands big business the power to sue governments, including for profits they haven’t made yet. A US multinational with an office in Canada (nearly all of them) will be able to sue Britons for bringing in laws that lose them money. This was the mechanism tobacco giant Philip Morris used to sue Australia’s government for bringing in plain packaging. On that occasion, Big Tobacco was unsuccessful – but it took four years of expensive legal battle." https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/oct/19/free-trade-broken-idea-elites-deals-ceta-ttip-economic

There are simple fixes aren't there? Limit on campaign donations, equal airtime, rules for broadcasters toward the end of the election cycle etc.....

Think people are kidding themselves if they think the American establishment is ever going to hand power via elections or whatever back to the people.

Absolutely can't wait for the Clinton presidency now.

The Americans believe with the sanctions, the various proxy wars, the bank account and asset freezing, low oil prices and traction in Ukraine that they are close to the endgame with Russia. Clinton will take Russia on in Syria. First it will be talk of a no fly zone to ground the Russian airforce and then it will be maneuvering at the UN Security council to have another go at the 'coalition of the willing'. This will be the last mistake the hawks make because Russia can't back down. This won't be a conflict they can fight in someone elses country once Russian subs start to position themselves within range of American cities. Yeah it's really going to happen because American leadership is insane and deluded and totally out of touch with reality. You can look back at what Putin has been saying for the last year and the coded comments he makes and the sheer disbelief that he finds himself in such a situation with regard to what is at stake for mankind.

I have dialed it down cause I haven't had any need to go rabid on it.

The one side effect of Brexit not covered by the MSM was the sharp drop of IQ's.
-
Yeah definitely. The U.S. is clearly not interested in regime change in the middle east or moving missile defence around Russia. Fuck me.

Gloom is in my pocket now as well. Note how careful he is about Israel.

Your letter of complaints should be directed at the Washington Post, Time magazine and the Economist.

I pointed out a basket of things not one.

Obama’s change of mind [weakening his ardor against Assad] had its origins at Porton Down, the defence laboratory in Wiltshire. British intelligence had obtained a sample of the sarin used in the 21 August attack and analysis demonstrated that the gas used didn’t match the batches known to exist in the Syrian army’s chemical weapons arsenal. The message that the case against Syria wouldn’t hold up was quickly relayed to the US joint chiefs of staff. The British report heightened doubts inside the Pentagon; the joint chiefs were already preparing to warn Obama that his plans for a far-reaching bomb and missile attack on Syria’s infrastructure could lead to a wider war in the Middle East. As a consequence the American officers delivered a last-minute caution to the president, which, in their view, eventually led to his cancelling the attack." In the war to depose Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, the linchpin event is the chemical-weapons attack last Aug. 21. We are invited — required, actually — to believe Assad allowed U.N. inspectors in to determine responsibility for previous gas attacks and then launched another attack near Damascus while the inspectors were settled in their hotel rooms." Assad knowing the West was itching to get into Syria big time was just carrying out random gas attacks here and there....Think for a minute yeah?

You have really been a breath of fresh air the last few weeks.
-
You really take the cake. Is you position really that the Pentagon with its billions and access to the finest minds are sitting there playing backgammon? They will have a list of endgames for Russia and China and us and the EU.

10 years ago when I told you and the other clowns in here that all your digital devices were compromised I was right. Now you and Gloom (the Mork and Mindy of the forum) say well we don't really care....

I suggest you go and read up on it.

2013 President Obama found himself isolated on the Syria issue at the G20 conference in St. Petersburg on Thursday. Among the world’s largest 20 economies, only France agreed with his plan for a military attack on Damascus. China expressed fears that US military action in Syria would cause a spike in oil prices and slow the world’s economy. The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) are often anti-intervention. As rising world economies, they feel they suffered from imperial interventions themselves. They do not want the Syria attack by the US. But the big surprise was that the European Union came out with position closer to Russian President Vladimir Putin than to Obama." "Obama had already ordered the Pentagon to develop target lists. Five Arleigh Burke–class destroyers were in the Mediterranean, ready to fire cruise missiles at regime targets. French President François Hollande, the most enthusiastically pro-intervention among Europe’s leaders, was preparing to strike as well. All week, White House officials had publicly built the case that Assad had committed a crime against humanity. Kerry’s speech would mark the culmination of this campaign. But the president had grown queasy. In the days after the gassing of Ghouta, Obama would later tell me, he found himself recoiling from the idea of an attack unsanctioned by international law or by Congress. The American people seemed unenthusiastic about a Syria intervention; so too did one of the few foreign leaders Obama respects, Angela Merkel, the German chancellor. She told him that her country would not participate in a Syria campaign. And in a stunning development, on Thursday, August 29, the British Parliament denied David Cameron its blessing for an attack. John Kerry later told me that when he heard that, “internally, I went, Oops.” http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/04/the-obama-doctrine/471525/ WASHINGTON — The White House signaled that the United States would act alone in Syria if necessary to protect its national security interests, as a Western coalition that just days ago appeared determined to launch a joint military action split wide open. President Obama appeared increasingly isolated after British Prime Minister David Cameron lost a vote Thursday in the House of Commons on endorsing military action. It was a stunning defeat for a government that days ago called for punishing Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces for alleged use of chemical weapons against rebel-held neighborhoods last week. Britain "will not be involved" in any military strikes on Syria, Defense Secretary Philip Hammond said after the vote. However, he added, "I don't expect that the lack of British participation will stop any action." Obama administration officials made their case for armed intervention in a conference call with congressional leaders Thursday night. "As we've said, President Obama's decision-making will be guided by what is in the best interests of the United States," said Caitlin Hayden, spokeswoman for the National Security Council. "He believes that there are core interests at stake for the United States and that countries who violate international norms regarding chemical weapons need to be held accountable." http://articles.latimes.com/2013/aug/29/world/la-fg-us-syria-intel-20130830 In the end they couldn't drum up enough support across the board and also were aware the American public were reticent about another war. But it was close and the Parliament NO swung it...Germany had already said no. When Clinton gets in she will ratchet it up and we will be close to a hot war with Russia. She is insanely deluded. The rest of that post you found incredulous is in the public domain. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NATO encirclement of Russia with expansion into Eastern Europe and arrival of Aegis missile systems in Romania and Poland and now NATO mischief in Ukraine. American meddling in Kazakhistan,Georgia and Uzbekistan to further encircle the bear. (Loads of articles on it from various sources). PINAC (Project for a new American century was a neo-con project under Bush). It lays out how the middle east will be remade. You can download it. Everything in it has happened/is happening.

Gloom and Renton make me laugh...Oh look we don't know anything...Explain everything over and over again...We haven't read any current events bar a 10 min daily peruse of the Guardian. Explain Clinton, explain American foreign policy although for 3 decades its been as clear as day and pursued by president after president ...OOoo we thought Clinton was popular....etc... It was Clinton's idea that people with no money should be allowed to buy houses. He started going around sayin it was a right. Repealed Glass Steagal etc...Did more than probably anyone to completely destroy America. The whole time he was on coke and banging thousands of women in da White House. "Among his biggest strokes of free-wheeling capitalism was the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, which repealed the Glass-Steagall Act, a cornerstone of Depression-era regulation. He also signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, which exempted credit-default swaps from regulation. In 1995 Clinton loosened housing rules by rewriting the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods. It is the subject of heated political and scholarly debate whether any of these moves are to blame for our troubles, but they certainly played a role in creating a permissive lending environment."

Mate it was only Parliament that stopped a full Western invasion of Syria. The Americans were ready to go...Obama was going on about his 'red line' (then the staged gas attack was exposed as by the terrorist groupings). AND it was Mi6 and Portown Down that did the analysis. Once in a lifetime Parliament gets it right. All the secular unaligned middle eastern states with no debt were to be regime changed (followed in by the banksters and multi-nationals to take the piss) and chaos let loose across the whole area. That was the plan all along and still is. Russia and China are to be ringed by survivable missile defence systems in line with the new American first strike policy. Russian air strikes in Syria shows that at long last they now understand what is really going on and they will not step down. Enter the deluded maniac Clinton. We are a thousand times closer to a planet ending event now than ever before.

Clinton has a policy of declaring the whole Pacific as American. War against Iran, Syria and arming Vietnam with missile defence systems. Whatever comes out it will be bad. Total warmonger and deluded.
