Who said that? I read he was getting £15M. Where was this?
-
3 points for a win though marra. That's the trouble. Who actually can we hope to beat away looking at the rest of the fixtures?
-
I was thinking that very thing this morning.
-
When Alex goes to the stats I know we're in trouble.
-
I've looked into various things to run streams on the Mac. Just ended up buying a cheap laptop at the end of the day.

Bearing in mind MA has told JFK it's an in and out policy reg cash available. After which JFK has gone on to contradict this regarding his now weekly outpourings regarding players he's looking at - with widely differing values. What are the basic things we can do, not only involving transfers to correct our situation?
-
Agreed.

Not only that but we wouldn't come back up like last time, we'd maybe be lucky to come back up as strongly as Stoke have come up this season. How did it all go wrong?
-
Have to keep Owen. It would be immense irony that the bloke who we've all grumbled about one time or another keeps us up.
-
He has, but for the right reasons, or at least reasons that no one in their right mind wouldn't have expected. Don't flick a tigers balls and then whine about getting bitten = don't employ Keegan and then whine when he told you to lump it because it wasn't "as advertised". Frankly I think Ashley could have still salvaged it with Keegan right into October, IF he'd been prepared to shed "the management structure". Exactly, 100% Depends how you look at it. Ferguson and Souness both have a reputation for not taking any shit. In one case it works, in the other case it doesn't. You can say it was unworkable and all the rest of it, but I don't think it's that simple. Keegan has a special place in our hearts but he isn't viewed in the same way as Ferguson by the rest of the football public. I'm sure Ferguson has had to pick his battles over the years and now he can pretty much do what he likes. I don't know the whole story and as I've said more times than I care to remember, Ashley is 90% at fault, but the fact is we'd be doing an awful lot better if Keegan was still here and had bided his time. Then he would have been in a stronger position (with Ashley) to tell people to fuck off. After what went on in the last few weeks of the summer transfer window, Keegan would have been Wise's poodle - that was never going to happen. Ferguson has never been in a similar situation, he's more or less always been backed, but I very much doubt he would react well to a similar one (Mourinho didn't and largely he was getting very good players forced on him). Ashley should have known what he was getting (he was certainly well aware of some of what he was getting with Keegan), seemingly he didn't - right up until his talks with him at the end of September. I think Ashley thought a) He could handle KK It was worth the gamble as he would immediately get the supporters on his side.

We shouldn't really be talking of relegation in these terms. We'd immediately lose all our best players and coming back would be hard. Might take 2/3 seasons.
-
Jonas is more an allrounder it seems than a true winger. Collo is still settling in - in a new league so I'll hold fire on him for now. Xisco won't make it. Not sure who the other bloke is.
-
I've read that MA's net worth is down to 700m or summat.
-
Shows how serious the scenario has become that we are relying on Bassong playing out of his skin at his age.
-
Aye, not that fast and poor in the air. He's a sweeper and a pretty decent one but those deficiencies mean he'll get caught out at times. Conceding from set pieces has been a major headache as we don't really have anyone commanding in the air at the back.
-
We have to get a decent manager in Jan or it's basically all over. JFK just has too many tactical shortcomings.
-
While that's true I think a lot of that was down to how utterly shit they were, as opposed to how good we were. We were good, but seriously at half time I remember thinking these are one of the worst sides I've seen here in 15 years. So much so I took the toon to win the second half 3-0 at 28/1. There's no way we're too good to go down, better teams than us have went down, maybe not bigger clubs since Man Utd, but Leeds had more talent at their disposal than us. Let's pray it doesn't come to that, but the bandwagon crying that Kinnear has done a wonderful job needs to pipe down as well. Two wins in eleven isn't good enough, and a lot of this praise he's receiving seems to be coming from himself! Harry Redknapp does the same thing. I know Guthrie went off, but I 110% blame him for Saturday no one on earth can convince me the he didn't tell them to be less attacking in the second half. It's Stoke at home for fuck sake with a midfield consisting of Amdy Faye. Joke. We can go down quite easily, people are saying Blackburn might go, but they've got canny players, I'd rather have Santa Cruz than any of our forwards. I think they will sack Ince quite soon and then they will shoot up the table.
-
I would normally agree with you but the only one of those teams we have beat so far is West Brom and by the end we were hanging on against them (and they are comfortably the weakest team in the league). Citeh are strong at home and could have spent god knows what by the time we play them so I wouldn't be betting on us beating them. I have been concerned before because of the way we were playing but our inability to beat shite at home combined with an even worse than usual record away from makes things even worse. Add to that the fact that other teams (like the makems and probably Blackburn) have the oppertunity to sack their manager and get someone else in who will give them at least a short term lift and possibly some money to spend in January while we have no chance of getting a new manager this season and very little of fatty putting some cash in for transfers while a lot of players will be thinking about being elsewhere. I really do think we could be fucked this season and I'm hoping for a meltdown at west ham to have much hope at all. To tell the truth, if someone had asked what would you hope for out of Chelsea (a), Boro(a), Stoke(h) I'd have said 4 points. To have gotten 3 isn't as miserable as Saturday made me. But thats the thing we would have been better off with getting hammered by Chelsea but taking the 3 points off of Stoke. Whilst we continue to drop points against the likes of Blackburn, Wigan, Stoke etc we are never pulling away from them as even when we are picking up the odd decent point they are at least taking points off each other. I think it was Alex that said to me on Saturday that is was beating the teams around them that kept the Mackems up last season. We cannot win away from home and with the top four and the likes of Spurs, Everton and Pompey to come to St James Park I really do worry after what should really be our home bankers in the likes of Blackburn, Hull, Wigan and Stoke having already passed us by... Not getting 3 points from Wigan and now Stoke are very bad portents, especially how we lost the initiative. We have an oldish side who do start to flag after 70 min or so..

Roy Keane? I think he's a good manager yes. Wouldn't be too bad for getting us out of the Championship. IMO things have gone wrong there due to their inability to attract Tier One players and RK has from what I've read tried to do too much on his own. If people look at the bigger picture he's done a lot for them. The last tranche of transfers were a blunder..Cisse, Chimbonda etc... I like the Hull manager forget his name. If money were no object I'd get Jol from Hamburg. Friends here who go to HSV games say he's top notch.

I would get a new manager in Jan and get the 2/3 players we need, there isn't much difference between the bottom 6/8 this year and the sides at the bottom who are genuinely proactive in Jan have the best chances of survival. 2 CM's One def one attacking (ideally box to box). Right winger. West Ham will be selling and Man City have a fair few who don't get games anymore.

If anything KK has done us a favour, but even now some of us it seems don't get it. Yeah we may have been doing better now, but we'd just have been storing up trouble for the future anyway. But Keegan would never have stayed as it was (and he wouldn't be Keegan if he did - and for the nth time of repeating, Fergy, Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez, even Curbishly would have walked in the same position too. In fact the hard thing might be finding a top manager that would have not). People just need to consider for a moment how much easier it would have been for him to coast along picking up his 3m a year.

I disagree. I think he might have considered it were we a top half side with KK here etc. It's not like that's not his level these days, much as a I rate him still. No I honestly thought I would have a chance but since all this shit she is too worried about whats going on at NUFC to consider an affair

...and a couple more. The gang of four as I call them.
