  1. I haven't heard, but you might know more than me about our finances, from what i know we're not in any debt. Though you're most likely right with the 85mil MON has spent since taking over, and putting a charity as our shirt sponsor. @Kitman: That all sounds eeriely familiar, we were hoping for a team of Gareth Barry's and instead got Juan Pablo Angel, and Benito Carbone. We were at least content, if not frustrated that we had 11th place pretty much reserved for us every year, then next year then DOL came along and showed us that we can, and will go lower, finishing 16th. Wasn't Ashley originally putting money into Newcastle, then stopped? If only he'd of let Keegan pick the transfer targets to begin with. We are lucky our chairman knows fuck all about football. And even luckier he doesn't fancy himself as a manager - chosing transfers him self. Chelsea had a net borrowing of £620 million, with a personal loan of £90 million from Roman Abramovich in that season alone, which brought his total investment in the club to £575 million and offset the club;s losses after tax of £76 milliion. Villa, according to this report, even recorded £63 million of debt in the summer of 2007. Moreover, Man City owe £103 million, West Ham have £142 million of debt, Middlebrough were £85 million in debt at the end of the 2006/07 season, Wigan sustained a £14m defecit thanks to their wage bill in 2006/07 and Derby were £30m in debt after the 2006/07 season.
  2. I agree with most of this, posted by Happy Face on Non-Newcastle residents-Online. HP and recently Ewerk look like a couple of gallant musketeers surrounded by a slavering rabble on N.O.
  3. I'll say it again. His obsession with immediately balancing the books is cause he still wants to sell the club.
  4. Or use the camera on your phone even. Genius, I know. Sacrilege!!
  5. "Prosecutor drops some charges dropped in Pirate Bay case The defendants in the widely watched case are no longer accused of helping users of the site infringe copyrights. Instead, the men are now charged only with making copyrighted works available via The Pirate Bay."
  6. Half the charges have already been dropped! "This is a sensation. It's very rare that you win half the case after a day and a half and it's clear that the prosecutor took a strong impression of what we said yesterday. It's a technological misunderstanding from the prosecutors, none of the downloads that have been shown in the court have been proved to come from the pirate bay tracker." Per Samuelsson, one of the defending lawyers. COME ON THE SWEDES!!!
  7. Ain't seen it. Is it any good though? [Alex\] FYP. I tried to watch Shoot The Piano Player last night but kept falling asleep. Truffaut does nothing for me at all. Jules et Jim ?
  8. you are joking. I hope. This ones a good player. should have got him a few years ago... Joking, of course.
  9. I've whacked it on the list. The Big Blue. Sublime. Might put that on tonight. Good thinking Batman.
  10. You think he might lose a vast proportion of the match going fanbase?
  11. That is the truly frightening thing - the depth of incompetence that keeps being demonstrated by Ashley Llambias Wise, whichever of them is making decisions is astounding. There seems to be absolutely no understanding of our position, what is needed for the future or how to get there. Leadership is completely absent, no one is responsible for anything, and the recent attempts at communication have been almost worse than the silence that preceeded it. I genuinely am worried for the future of the club, probably more so if Ashley isnt trying to asset strip and turn a profit. If he thinks the current situation and management of it is anywhere near satisfactory he is completely deluded Aye, they seem oblivious to the seriousness of the situation as though it's a case of everything being ok, if not ideal. I think that they think they have plenty of time to do what they want with their 'business plan', what they don't realise is that football isn't like any other business. For one thing - good players, managers and coaches etc. are finite and (usually) expensive resources. They can also afford to be choosy about who they work for. Which is a little bit different to how Sports Direct does things. All joking aside, it's quite scary to comprehend that he's applied the same business model to Newcastle United. I can't understand how the bloke is so rich tbh - rather than decent business acumen, it's surely a case of him having been in the right place at the right time? I don't think it takes a genius to make money the way he has....go into his stores and you'll see what I mean. This man could've invented the phrase "pile it high, sell it cheap" Sadly, as mentioned above, he's running the club in the same way.....he's a born gambler, and he gambled on not doing due dilligence with a view to a bit of asset stripping (getting high earners off the wage bill) and selling on for a nice 100mill or so profit 12-18 months later....but his luck has finally run out, the fuckin useless cunt Imo balancing the books immediately shows a continued desire to sell.

NUSC have driven him to it apparently.
  13. Ah yes you're right there.
  14. I'd boil that down to people actually.
  15. I don't remember asking anyone to make music 'for my pleasure'. I wasn't suggesting you sent out written requests. I'm sure you knew exactly what I was getting at however. Save that shit for youknowwho man. It's tedious enough as it is Mate, when musicians find out they can't have 15 Rolls Royces and have to get proper jobs, we'll see who the real musicians are. Writers and poets (real artists) die poor. Music should be the same. If you're really into it then by all means do it....But don't expect to make a killing out of it. Fuck them. All sounds the same anyway. I completely disagree, I'd like all musicians I like to be compensated for what they do. You're championing the idea of them being poverty stricken to the grave. Eh? What are you on about? They should do it for the love - aye. But if people like it the artists should be compensated all the same. So what if some people like some artists so much they make a fortune out of it? We might think they're shit but who are we to define people's tastes? It's a tough old world innit. Fuck them and the fender they rode in on. 90% of it is drivel and I don't give a fuck who buys it.
  16. How old is he now? Another semi-crock in the making. Get rid.

  18. Poyet is a bit shit now, look at his fiasco at Spurs recently.

  20. Profit? You mean companies not wanting their property to be illegally distributed? I download as much copyrighted material as anyone else but you can see why the companies want to prosecute. Fair play to the lads though for sticking to their guns though. Thing is though, they're just a search engine. If they get sued successfully, then Google, Yahoo!, et al could be brought to suit on precedent. Side note, I always just thought Fop was the past tense of Fap. Musicians used to live on charity once upon a time innit. Surely they got paid for entertaining people then as now, just in a less structured way. They were sponsored by the rich and stuff and many died poor..Didn't effect the quality. Making music is a gift not something that should require millions in the bank. Musicians used to have to tour to make money...Work in other words. Film production is expensive and for me a different debate. Musicians often have to tour to make money now. Although you're implication that producing music in the studio doesn't require hard work is a bit perplexing to me. I think you're talking shit basically It would be different if you were a song writer who was getting all their work stolen. I think you'll find most of the 'work' is already stolen. Plagiarism is rife in every single walk of life Parky. It doesn't mean there isn't still originality within music though. You can even be clever and original with plagiarism if that makes sense. I'm only really bothered about the artists btw. The companies have been ripping the customers and the artists off for years. U2 get about 11p an album. Cut out the record companies and watch the prices come down. I agree. You've changed your tune though. No real need for the record companies anyway with the internet etc. I agree. [Fop\]
