  1. I think it's fair enough to be honest like. Season ticket holders should take precedence over "stay aways". In 1991/1992, we were staring relegation in the face, and I barely missed a game home or away, but that's in that past, and so is your away record if you dont have a season card. Ahh but PaddockLad hasnt said hes not getting one, hes merely cancelled the 3 years deal, which I think is fair enough.
  2. Anyone else play it? Fairly decent free online first person, Im not very good at it though http://crossfire.subagames.com/index.aspx?from=&subid=
  3. Is that all the useful, influential people you can call on when you need that one big favour...like a job? Have you thought about going back to flogging conservatories to 90 year olds that live in high rises? Seriously though, I hope you and everyone else in this thread get sorted soon................you're bringing down the level of the board
  4. Anyone know where Portsmouth are staying on Sunday night? Malmaison? also anyone know if they are training at Gateshead like Man U did?
  5. It was never part of the deal as far as I was aware, at least not if we're talking about the "pay three years and get it at a cheaper price than everyone else....get fuck all in the way of any incentive" scheme that they ran before last seasons renewals.
  6. Quote from Mick Martin tonight, when he asked Al about next season he got a simple straight answer of "I dont want it".
  7. If anyones in the area there a NUSC roadshow on with Mick Martin (ex Toon not True Faith :lol) at Forest Hall Club. I'll even let you buy me a pint
  8. Caulkin and Bird have been to most, if not all of the public meetings and spoke at them too.
  9. Was me that started all that bollocks. First time it was done on N/O and copied en masse, another Stevie innovation what was?
  10. Dealing with weeds Most weeds are easy to eradicate if spotted early enough and can be controlled without the use of chemicals. What to do * Mulch borders with an 8cm (3in) layer of bark mulch to prevent weeds from colonising. * Cover large areas of bare soil with plastic, landscape fabric or an old roll of carpet to prevent weeds from germinating in spring. * Removing annual weeds in the border by hand pulling or hoeing. * Lever up perennial weeds from the border with a hand fork or special weeding tool. Ensure every piece of root is removed. * Scrape weeds or moss from between gaps in paving with an old knife. * Use a daisy grubber to removing shallow rooted, rosette forming weeds from the lawn. * Paint stubborn rosette forming lawn weeds with a herbicide gel. * Tackle coarse grasses growing in the lawn by slashing through the crown with a knife before mowing. * Before mowing lawns containing weeds with long runners, rake the stems to the surface. Regular mowing will eventually weaken and kill the weed. * Lawns that are smothered with weeds and moss are best treated with a weed and feed product. * Pull weeds from pots and fill gaps with new compost. Prevention You’ll never be able to completely stop weeds from popping up in your garden, but there are ways to ensure they have less places to grow. Bare patches of soil will quickly be colonised by both annual and perennial weeds, so a well-stocked border is less likely to support a thriving population of these pesky plants. If you have gaps, plug them by planting ground covering plants. Alternatively mulch bare soil with a thick, 8cm (3in), layer of bark chippings, well-rotted manure or leaf mould in the spring. Not only will this prevent weeds from growing, but it will help to retain moisture in the soil. If you have a large area of bare soil, such as an unused patch at the allotment, cover with plastic, landscape material or even old carpet to prevent weeds from germinating. Weeds in the border Annual weed seeds can survive for years in the soil, waiting for the perfect conditions to grow. They germinate at lower temperatures than most garden plants and can grow and set seed very quickly. Its important to recognise them at the seedling stage, so you can eliminate them without accidentally removing your flower or vegetable seedlings. Remove annual weeds from bare patches of soil by hand or with a hoe, severing the tops from the roots, before they have a chance to produce seed and spread. Use a hand fork to lever perennial weeds from the soil or use a special long handed weeding tool. It is important to remove all the roots, as some weeds can regrow from any bits left behind. Herbicides can also damage garden plants so are best avoided unless absolutely necessary. Bindweed, which is a serious problem for some, sometimes winds itself into shrubs and is best destroyed by painting the leaves with a herbicide gel, which will be taken down to the roots. Weeds on paths Use an old knife or a special paving brush, with an angled head of wire bristles, to scrape weeds out of the gaps between paving slabs. If you have large areas of paving that need weeding, try a gas powered flame gun. These are hand held, lightweight gadgets - all you do is pass the flame over the weeds, the tops blacken and quickly die. Weeds in the lawn Many shallow rooted, rosette forming lawn weeds can be removed with a daisy grubber, while tap-rooted weeds can be hoicked out of turf with a long-handled weed tool. Alternatively, weeds can also be treated with a herbicide gel brushed onto the leaves. This will only affect the weeds treated. Moss and many other lawn weeds can be prevented by keeping the lawn healthy. Aerate, spike and rake annually to improve drainage and remove debris. If you have a problem with coarse grasses in the lawn, they can be controlled by slashing through the crowns with a knife before mowing, while weeds that spread by runners can be weakened by raking the stems upright before cutting. If you have a serious weed problem, use a weed and feed product, ensuring that the formulation is for the right time of year. These are usually for spring or autumn application. Weeds in pots Moss, algae and weeds can sometimes overrun pots and rob moisture from the roots of plants. Pull out by hand – if necessary scoop off the surface layer – and add a layer of fresh compost. An ornamental mulch of pebbles, shells or glass chippings will prevent weeds from returning. Common annual weeds * Hairy bittercress (Cardamine hirsuta) - bare soil and pot * Groundsel (Senecio vulgaris) - bare soil * Sun spurge (Euphorbia helioscopia) - bare soil * Chickweed (Stellaria media) - bare soil * Fat Hen (Chenopodium album) - allotments Common perennial weeds * Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) - lawns and bare soil. * Daisy (Bellis perennis) - lawns * Annual meadow grass (Poa annua) - lawns * Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum) - rural gardens * Creeping buttercup (Ranunculus repens) - damp borders or lawn
  11. Im confused now, thought we were talking about Ashley
  12. Trouble with the daft shite, is I reminded the poor dear how wrong he had been about his belief that anybody but Shepherd would be better for the club and wouldn't embarrass him anymore, and he can't believe a smart lad like himself got it so wrong. Probably an inappropriate smiley but what the fuck, I've seen 2 relegations and this will be the 3rd time. Im sure though that Mancy would be happy to admit that, I know I do. I once said to you something along the lines of "I'll take my chances with the new bloke, its highly unlikely he'll be worse" Yep, nostrafookindamus there.
  13. What you wearing? Farahs, comfy as fook
  14. Every year we will be the ... Most profitable club in Premier League 2008/09 Most profitable club in Championship 2009/10 Most profitable club in 1st Division 2010/11 . . . . Biggest club in history of Unibond 2020? At this rate his wish of getting the wage bill down will happen, we'll have players on Minimum wage by 2021.
  15. Has he not been sectioned yet?
  16. I hoped that for Chelsea yet it was no different, if the new messiah cant get it to happen on his return then I cant imagine what will. Til the end though we should continue trying.
  17. If 30,000 sang it then maybe I wouldnt find it so cringeworthy however as songs and chants go its probably the lowest common denominator. What I would find inspiring and uplifiting for both the fans and more importantly the players would be 30k singing Blaydon Races in unison (rather than the 3 or 4 different chunks of the ground that we have doing it now and out of synch, this is something thats probably a fault of the stadium design rather than the fans tbh). I would feel that lift in my heart like I used to if we all burst into "Geordie Ranger" or "Drink Drink" or even "N and an E and a Wubble U C" once in a while.
  18. Do you think an ageing match going support has anything to do with it, pud? Or a higher proportion of Range Rover driving mitten wearing types? I dont personally think its down to any one type of fans, I would have thought that our fanbase profile is no different to any other clubs. I do believe its purely down to how we have been conditioned over the years. When Stevie talks about the Sky fans of '93 hes right but it shouldnt be a derogatory term. Sky brought football back to the general populus. It made it mainstream and a good place to be. The fact we were up there with the best of them in the following seasons just helped build our fanbase. These arent glory hunters or fair weather fans they are people who liked what they saw and stuck with us with the thinner years that followed. Trouble was that these fans and those that were too young to be around in the pre Premier League days didnt know any different, they only knew the entertainers and pushing for the league, Europe qualification and stuffings of Man U, Spurs (yes Danny, the great Spuds were well and truly stuffed) et al. Now that times are hard and we are needed, fans dont know how to behave, the only songs they know are "We're gonna win the League", "Walking in a Keegan/ Robson wonderland" etc. All songs that cant be sung when you are where we are. Where is the gallows humour? what happened to the songs of pride and passion? songs that make you proud to sing along and get involved. Where did they go? Where are the men who used to stand on a barrier in the Gallowgate and face the wrong way for 90 minutes just so they could gee up the crowd to sing? They havent gone anywhere, its just they know that either they will be ignored or told to sit down and shut up. They cant sing the old songs because its so long now since they have been that nobody knows the words. The only songs sung are Blaydon Races and "Toon Toon", the latter being one that I personally think is cringeworthy.
  19. I couldnt give a fuck what the reasons are behind their support being louder, more passionate and more of an asset to their team than ours, the simple fact of life is that they have been. I think Stoke fans are wank (© Stevie) they have that horrible small club mentality of "lets fuck the big boys" but at the end of the day they achieve what they set out to do and thats intimidate the away team and galvanise their own. The day we as supporters can do that again then I'll be happy but I see it as never happening until we're back up there fighting for the Champions League spots. We as supporters do not seem to have the fight and passion for this scrap. Never have the words "you only sing when you're winning" been so apt as they are for us. Back in the mid 90s SJP was the place to be, the ground that everyone feared to come to. A wall of noise, intimidating atmosphere and solid behind the team support. Nowadays its quiet moaning and mutterings about how shite things are. Thats not down to "wank" fans or glory hunters that appeared in 93. After all they will have been the very same glory hunters that made the wall of noise in 96. No, its down to the shit we've been served up over the past few years, the constant stream of new managers each one shitter than the one before. The lies, the mistrust and the baffling on and off field decisions. We've lost our priorities as fans, yes we want to be entertained and yes we want to see us winning but if we're not then we should be doing our bit to help it along. The first part of that process is the realisation that we are not the best fans in the world, far from it. Yes, we are loyal and yes we are passionate but are we the best fans? are we fuck. The sooner we all realise that then the sooner we can start to do something about it.

coooooooool, cheers for the link...downloading it now
  21. One is a national stadium funded by the Government and the other is a football club owned and ran by the supporters. Id say the latter have done a pretty good job of it tbh.
  22. sometimes I wonder how much sense these papers have. Since when does a manager get to decide his boss? especially when that manager has only 6 games left in charge.
  23. No they don't. They are like Portsmouth who are similarly wank fans. Go to Fratton Park now the atmosphere is dead, the realisation has set in they're not really a Premiership club, and like Stoke they will soon be where they belong. Stoke are still in first season syndrome. When we came up I'm sorry like but the atmosphere at St James' would rival anywhere in the world, Stoke are essentially on a one season jolly up, their crowds have almost trebled, give them three years in the Premiership and the atmosphere there will be wank. When Sunderland came up in 1999 the atmosphere at the SOS, far exceeded that of the Britannia, Barnsley made Oakwell intimidating, and the likes of Wolves have done exactly the same. It always amazes me that people fall in to the trap of praising the supports of promoted clubs, and Stoke in particular. Stoke City as a club and as a support in my view are some of the biggest tossers this league has ever known in my time watching football, they are shit fans on their one season jolly up, I have no respect for them and as I said they are no different from any other club that's been promoted. As for us, being a resident of Newcastle I think we are a special club, we are unique and I would argue that point with anywhere and to be fair anyone that's ever played here will tell you really have to live here to understand how unique. Sir Les and Mick Quinn seems to say it every week. And what was their excuse for the game the season before? the worst FA cup 3rd round game ever? Their support then was spot on even though it was a freezing Sunday in January and on telly. Admittedly, they were scum, horrible kids spoiling for a fight but they made enough noise.
