If he's written off what he's paid in so far as a loss, which the sale price seems to suggest he has, the he might. The Administrator would take over the day to day running and get a best price - which would go to Ashley, Ashley would also avoid having to put any more money in for running costs. It's a real possibility IF there's no concrete buying interest pretty soon I reckon What would happen to the players contracts? Who would pay them off, if they were paid off? I believe players are classed as football creditors and therefore come 1st in payment order Http://accountancyage.com/accountancyage/a...l-playing-field But if there ain't any money, they'll get nowt like everyone else. They'd become free agents and once they did that any new owner wouldn't have any liability/contract to them ......I think That said, I'd be surprised if a player (employee) came ahead of a bank with a secured deal or HM taxman etc.

Fucking hell man, perspective required. Fair enough, I admit I'm prone to slight exaggeration But honestly, I am scared every time I turn the computer on in the morning. I've given up on feeling anything close to positivity about next season (trip to Blackpool aside, obviously ). I prefer being deluded and letting Baby don't worry about a fing, cos every fuckin fing is ganna be areet, tunefully go through my head. We will be areet, I'm sure of it, we have enough people who care enough about the club to see us through this hard time, I took the last relegation harder cos I was 11 years of age, and we came back in 4 seasons, the positive is, I'm sure we'll be back in that timeframe, and we'll be much healthier than we have been in a long long time I think. Drugs have never interested me but at this point in time I'll take a toke of whatever hes smoking.

I would disagree, the chances of getting a muppet increases as the price drops.

Shepherd is one fat lucky bastard, that's the truth. He's had his time, how anyone can seriously want him back is beyond all comprehension to me. I don't like the idea of him coming in very much but compared to Ashley staying then to coin a Freddy phrase "I'll drive him there myself". The other alternatives are unknowns so it could be frying pan n fire.

however we already have Aids so someone coming along and saying "swap your aids for the clap" should be snapped up before it fucks up your system even more.

I don't think the debt he put us in is a terrible thing no, he did it with the belief that it would bring success on the pitch. It failed yes but it's been proven elsewhere that it's the only way to gain that success (see the fact that a third of all the football leagues debt is owed by the top 4). We've proven this season that to avoid debt is disasterous both for the team and balance sheet. I'm a critic of Shepherd, always have been but there's a lot worse possibilities out there.

For fucks sake lads..... For what its worth, I said at the time "anyone is worth a gamble to get rid of Shepherd" and now I can safely say I was wrong, the gamble failed big time and we're now fucked. The only criticism we have of Shepherd (as far as running the club is concerned) was that he made some terrible managerial decisions, most of them though were terrible in hindsight, Dalglish, Gullit, Robson were all well established, successful managers before coming here so they should have done well. Allardyce was a poor decision, Souness was his big, big "what the fuck is he doing" moment and Roeder was the cheap choice. In all cases though, as Leazes has repeated many a time, Shepherd backed those managers, he installed them and then he backed them with the money to spend on what they believed to be good buys. The fact they were generally shit is not down to Freddy, its the fault of those that asked him for the cash. Those of you that sit here now moaning about how much debt he put us into didnt moan at the time, I imagine that we could search through the archives here and be hard pushed to find one post since the place began that said "Im worried that we shouldnt buy anyone because we're spending too much here". With the right manager in place (which we hope we have with Shearer) then the biggest mistake Shepherd can make will already be out of his hands, its then down to him to back Al as he has done in the past. Maybe, with others behind him in a consorteum then he wont be able to make some of the downright dodgy deals he did in the past (such as selling his brother a warehouse that he could then rent to the club at a ridiculously inflated amount). I have no doubts that Shepherd is not the best we could do as a chairman/owner howver we dont have the luxury of being able to pick and choose and for every Shepherd theres probably 3 Ashleys that could purchase us and thats a scary thought.

We've heard it all before... we sure have http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?showtopic=21674

Im with you on the thought that a proven manager with experience of promoting a club would be a better choice however no proven manager with any sense would touch this club under the current regime. In that respect then Shearer is our best hope for the short term at least.

My point is I don't buy into the myth that we have a salary bill anywhere near what is being touted around. Sure it's high for the CCC (i reckon around £35m), but using 2007/2008 as a point of reference is inaccurate as lot of the high earners are out-of-contract and some have been renegotiated (Butt, Harper & Shola). Do you think they renegotiatied Harper and Sholas contracts to reduce them? Harper had just gained first choice keeper, his would have probably doubled. Shola is obviously on more than he was in 07/08. Butt maybe took a wage cut but its unlikely to have been much.

Anything? coffee consumed? hotel rooms stayed in? that sort of thing? Id always assumed it was for the amounts of money we pay staff, now looking at our current squad compared to when the accounts were done and yes, weve got rid of a couple of players but we've also renewed contracts for others. Those that went wouldnt have accounted for £30million as you suggest. Maybe now that Owen is a free agent then we can clear about £6mil off in one swoop but before that I'd say we maybe are £3mil better off than in 07/08. Then take into account the severe drop in income that happened last season and you'll probably find that our wages to turnover percentage is quite a bit higher for 08/09 than in 07/08.

Good call. Fuck off is it! Plughmans lunch in a sarnie? in other words a cheese salad. Proper gay. Im with sniffer on this one, replace the cheese with fried eggs, bin the tomato, onion and lettuce then hoy a load of home fried chips in there, bit of tomato sauce and you've got a proper legit English sarnie. Forgot the bacon. You dont have bacon with egg n chips man! that takes it away from a tea (and not the drink) into brunch territory and anyone who eats brunch must be raving.

Like I said when I got mine, it's like a 2nd cock. Where do I download that app from? Im guessing its not an iTunes one.

Take it you've had the meeting then? Come on Craig don't be bitter, I haven't come back to gloat. Just to say goodbye to old friends. that won't take long

If I was Ashley though then I would be moving everything made by the club into paying against the 100million owed to SJ Holdings. So for instance, if we shifted £10m worth of STs then he may just have to write off £90million instead of £100 million. If thats the case then holding off buying STs could work two fold, a) it would ensure the new owners got any proceeds and b ) it could force ashleys hand even more and make him reduce the price further. admittedly though it could also mean he clicks the administration button
-
IF Ashley is selling up and writing off the debt as he reckons then are we as a club gaining anything by purchasing Season Tickets before hes gone? The way Im seeing it, any sales will just go towards dropping that debt down and therefore reducing Ashleys losses, I cant imagine its going to go into the clubs coffers ready for transfer time. Or am I seeing that wrongly? would it have to go towards the Barclays stuff first?
-
There can be no bad time for Ashley to sell, before the transfer window ideally as HOPEFULLY new owners will have some form of plan rather than fat boys "sell anything that isnt nailed down, and if it is nailed down then grab a claw hammer and loosen the twat" plan. There would however be nothing gained by him holding onto it after the season has started, every day that goes by will see another nail pulled out.

Plus we have an uncanny nack of buying players with good reputations and systematically destroying their spirit and ability.
-
If only we could all be as knowlegeable and as big a fan as yourself.

Nobody has ever claimed to be the voice of all fans, that would never be possible.

Ahh fuck it then, lets give up now

If you're going to have a go at least put some kind of backing to the argument.
