Are we going to have to rewrite classic songs too? "Id brave the dark at the Adidas Arena for me mother saying hinny haway." doesnt really have the same ring to it like. christ Im fucked if Ive not used the right howay/haway. -
Ive never managed to get the bluetooth to work for anything until last week. Had a Mondeo hire car and the phone paired straight in, perfect quality calls over the bluetooth.
-
Only just ventured into this thread, sorry to hear about both of you. Im sure things will work out for the best in the long run though. Oh and cheers for telling me about the Trent lads, twice Ive called in and been stood on me todd

Apologies, probably just read the last at the wrong time The fact is wee've attempted to hold talks with Moat and not had the courtesy of a reply, on that logic he hasnt even heard what we are wanting in return. I think that speaks volumes personally about the man and his original motives.
-
We attempted to open dialogue with Moat a while back. He's fully aware of our position, what sort of funds were talking about and what not. To date (as far as I'm aware) there's been no reply. That'll be with the two seats on the board condition ? Unless I'm waaay off the mark on this, this was my bet weeks ago. And you'd prefer what? that we gave him peoples money (money they have invested with a view to changing the way this club is ran and ensuring its done properly with the fans in mind) and told him just to piss it up a wall? Too right we'd expect seat(s) on the board, investing a 5th of the purchase price on behalf of the fans and getting no say? Thats not what a Trust is for but if you do think thats a bit harsh then please feel free to donate via paypal to peasepud@toontastic.net and I'll pass it onto Barry for you.

ahh fuck it I give up. No matter what is written, no matter what you say, the same people trot the same tired arguments out. All Im saying is that we need to spend a few days coming up with the options, sorting the possible routes out and then do them. The likes of CT and Jihad are calling for a storming of the gates, what gates? theres no game til next Saturday so that gives us 8 days. If we arranged something for matchday yesterday it would have no bigger affect than if we arrange it on Monday. Absulute fucking bollocks and you know it, frankly a cheap shot from a sad fucker who has to spice up his life and make out hes a big shot on the internet when frankly hes just some argumentative wank. You've now decided to turn a couple of hundred people into lickspittles behind some faceless name on a message board, maybe you should credit these people with a bit of free thinking eh? unlike yourself the other members on here are capable of reading something said and making an informed decision. As for this one, sorry like but thats bollocks as well, I dont come on here and preach the NUST stuff, I report what is happening and give reasoned argument for and against, read back over my previous posts, at times I myself am critical of the organisation, I myself may not agree with everything that goes on or where the focus is sitting at any one time. If I dont though then I'll make those feelings known. Im willing to stand up for what I believe in, I report back to the committee when I see whats going on on here, whats being said and how generally those that use places such as this are feeling. If anything you'll find that Im one of the few on that committee who wants to see more radical action, Im the one that stands up and makes my voice heard and is willing to say "this is shite, I disagree with it". If however, the rest disagree then Im fucked, what I wont do however is throw my toys out of the pram and walk away that would mean theres one less voice there touting the opposite view and even less chance of a reasoned debate taking place. Currently its working because thats democracy, the committee was formed to take this club forward in the way it sees fit. If you dont think that we're doing that then you are quite rightly within your rights to table a "no confidence" motion. Im sure however that will really piss Ashley off, us fighting amongst ourselves. You talk about putting the options to the members yet not once have you taken on board the fact that I keep saying time and time again in this thread that we are looking at the options, we are pulling together views and thoughts and things that may or may not work. It takes time to document and plan out these options properly, it takes time to see if they would work, see if you have the relevant backing and people on board. Then and only then is it a good idea to put them to the members, whats the use in saying we can do a,b,c,d or e oh and maybe f as well, which do you want? only to answer "I dont know, not thought about it" when asked what d means. As for certain people on here trotting out the "Im not giving him any more money, Im not going anymore" well great, good on you however thats not exactly a major sacrifice is it when as you put it "I normally decide which games I fancy going to", not really a hard thing to do when the options are Scunthorpe, Cardiff and Peterborough, not Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal. Its also not a hard sacrifice to make when you spend 6 months of the year out of the country and miss half the games anyway. It must give a real warm glow to sit two thousand miles away knowing you're being paid to make that stance and being smug with a "Im boycotting, why arent you" attitude. Some of us have a problem in paying out money to the fat man for the next three years only to let that go, hes no worse off but I am, Im paying out for something Im not going to use yet at the same time everyone else is still there, wooopeedoo theres 2000 of us not turning up out of principle, most of whom have already paid their money therefore its not 2000 less in gate receipts. If however a full, widescale boycott of the matches was organised then Id be stood there outside with the rest of them. Until then I'll be there week in week out giving my support to the lads and vocally making it clear how I feel about the regime. I'll be there 10 minutes after the game supporting the Ultras. Some of us never buy anything from the club out of the principle, not one drop of beer, water or a bite of a pie has passed my lips in that ground since last September. I dont see it as a major problem, what I do see as a problem is the fact I wont be able to buy my son a toon top the day hes born, that I cant kit him out for the day he is taken out of the RVI, that hurts me because thats how I would have always seen it happening. I can still take the long way home and drive past those gates, the gates that will still say "St James Park" on them come January. I can still stop and say "one day son, thats where you'll stand, with the rest of them that care about this club". As for anyone who thinks that Im using this board as an extension of the NUST and is sick of it then feel free, this link may help > Click here I will continue to give you the views from inside, I may not even personally agree with them at times but I'll still report them because if I dont then you'll have even less chance to disagree with them than you do now. Finally, as for chucking in your membership of the Trust CT what do you think you've gained from that? the minute its cancelled then you've got no ability to make your voice heard, no chance to put your views on the forum or argue against things at a meeting. Thats not making a stance, its cowardice, its being unwilling to stand up for what you believe in. The same Supporters for Change lad that now a major NUST player? the same Supporters for Change lad who argues strongly against protest at this point in time? Does that not tell you something? -

If any of the "older lads" (Ive just turned 40 btw) can explain to me how reducing the income of the club by mass boycott will get rid of a man who is desperate to squeeze as much as possible out of this club then Id be interested to hear it. Reducing the clubs income now will give him even more excuse to sell the naming rights, theres no ifs and buts about it. He makes out we need x millions to survive, if by protest we then need x + y millions then he has the excuse he wants. It becomes our fault that the rights have been sold. Reducing the income will result in the following: Sale of players in January No new players purchased more staff cuts potential relegation naming rights sold Now I know that points 1 and 2 are inevitable anyway but when the time comes he has no excuses, its not the fans fault its his. People seem to think that because the NUST has not called for x protest to happen or hasnt organised anything substantial then its because we have no interest in doing so. Thats not the case, at least some of us do. There is no way that the ST will stand by and let that happen not without a damn big fight but at the same time (and I feel like Im just repeating myself here) we're not going to just rush out, rip up bedsheets and organise a march that only 200 people turn up for. It wont happen because it would be political suicide and more importantly wouldnt gain the desired result. The plans would still go ahead but we wouldnt have a credible organisation to stand up for the next thing. My view is that the ST will be doing whatever it can to stop this happening, there are however a number of avenues to be explored and its the sensible reasoned solution that will win the day. Boycoutt banners will attract SSN and the inevitable shit that goes with it. Marches with nobody turning up will pour more ridicule on the fans. Enlisting the help of big names, finding out if theres any legal avenues, enlisting the help of football fans the country (if not the world) wide to ensure its made clear that any company taking this offer up will see their revenues drop etc are all more sensible and worthwhile. If not then we still have protest as the fall back option. The simple fact of life is that theres no reason to rush out and protest today, hes stated that hes going to do this, its not done overnight, it will be months before anything is progressed (and if his recent form on the sale of the club is anything to go by then we dont need worry tbh). On that logic, what harm is there in spending a few days exploring the options before making a decision? -
So if he hadnt got sent down but was found guilty then he'd be ok? Surely the quote should have been "we will not tolerate football players who break the law"

And this is why a boycott of games will not work. Its one thing to ask people to forego their pie n pint. Not buy a scarf or shirt and drink elsewhere before the game but its an entirely different one to ask them to stop actually going to the game. Its a way of life, its ingrained in us and nobody can blame anyone for that. Sometimes however for the greater good then sacrifices have to be made. If it came down to it and we knew that a full scale boycott was on the cards then we'd need to make that difficult decision. I think it was J69 last year that came up with the best compromise for a boycott, miss a game when its on the telly. Arrange it properly well in advance and get pubs all over the place to put on food, reduce the price of drinks and give stuff away to anyone with a season ticket in their hand say 20 minutes in. That way nobody misses the game, people gain some beer/scran/whatever out of it and we turn it into a party atmosphere. Then at the end of the game we all rush the ground and hang the fat fucker. Only joking we stab him. lol what a card I am burn him at the stake then hang him. -
so thats zero on the sensible answers then
-
If so then he may have just made a very big mistake!!

I hate to think of you sitting there wondering so I'll explain. Would I have liked NUST to organise protests yes Do I think NUST and most fans are too apathetic to make protests work yes Would I still like to see protests take place yes Do I think if apathy wasnt around, protests would work yes have we said protests are not an option? no have you read my post? yes have you understood my post? no -

CT, Let's get something straight here, it's two days since the announcement was made. We've spoken to the press when asked and made it clear that the proposals are not welcomed. There's no rush here, why dive in headfirst and make rash decisions without weighing up all the possible routes, the ramifications of each and deciding on a course of action that will be effective. In the early days our big fault was that we didn't take time to plan and assess. We were rightly slaughtered for that, now we think about things sensibly and make proper informed decisions and you slag us for it. Things are happening they're just being deliberated properly -

So you're now saying protests won't work Protests wont work because of the sheer apathy of the majority (as well you and most others know). Apathy rules although i would love to be proved wrong in the next few days. See what happens when the NUSC lot surface I wouldn't really argue with that logic. I was laughing at the self-contradiction. Too right, sometimes CT you really need to review what you've written over the last few months. Time after time you've shouted that the NUST should be protesting, you've done it here, on the NUST board and no doubt to anyone sitting in the back of your cab. Time after time Ive told you why we werent, time after time Ive told you that among other things apathy will just end up winning. -

I said this a while ago, its one where you have to be careful what you wish for though. It reminds me of a scene from the Wire where the junkie Bub is told that he has to "hit the bottom before he can drag himself back up". I think that is true here too. We havent hit rock bottom yet, nowhere near it if we're being honest. Yes, if we go down then the price would surely drop however the lower we go the more desperate the fat man gets trying to recoup his money. Naming rights to the stadium is the first step, what next? the lower we drop the lesser the companies willing to splash the cash so instead of the Fenwicks stadium we get the Netto EDIT: fucking hell Ive got SSN on and swear I want to kick David Craig in the fucking nuts. What a total arse licking cock end "More importantly hes going to pump in £20m this week". The man is a fucking tosser. Hes just been asked "is this likely to lead to a backlash" and replied "theres 40 thousand different opinions, you'll not keep everyone happy and the most important thing is hes putting in £20m" This cunt is obviously one of the few over on N-O that still support him. Now where was I? Oh aye fat man. He'll rip this club apart if we drop further, the only way we can ensure he sells up is to rip his other businesses apart, I dont mean literally but financially. Target everything involving the man, start at the smallest of businesses where he has a stake and threaten to remove them from the map. Get the shareholders to remove him before their business goes down the pan. It will take proper organisation to arrange and see through, Liverpool fans organised a march before the Man U game to protest about Gillette & Hicks, everyone on forums, media, radio shows etc supported it, there was little to no disapproval and everyone predicited thousands walking the course. 200 turned up and it was lambasted, those that organised it now look stupid and it will have thrown their credibility terribly. -
just who exactly can get into that area? Is it also the Platinum club? if so, anyone got any tickets they dont need for the next game? ie that they'll swap for other tickets. It'll be worth it

I've no doubt they'll be formulating ideas as we speak. Protesting has got to be a very viable option. Boycotting games has to be an option, if he does sell the rights it'll be a long term deal that I doubt even a new owner could get out of. Any potential sponsor should be made aware of how unpopular that deal would be. All of the following is my personal view, as a fan, not in any shape or form as part of my NUST duties. It is however something that will be repeated in any conversations with other committee members. Mike Ashley can fuck with our club, he can sell our players, he can and has got us relegated, he can piss about our greatest players and managers. He can do that because he can get away with it but this is a differnet matter altogether. Its the history of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents but more importantly its our childrens future. I dont want my son playing at The McDonalds arena or heaven forbid, the SupportersDirect Dome. Im proud of the name, we're not Scarborough or Arsenal, we have a history that cannot and will not be sold. This cannot be allowed to happen but be under no illusions Mike Ashley will do as Mike fucking Ashley wants. He knows it will piss us off and hes happy for that to happen. No amount of protest or boycott against Ashley and the club will sway his views, in fact my first thoughts are that it will merely push him on further to do it and he'll argue that the reduced income because of any boycott makes it even more of a necessity. The only thing that will stop this is for the potential purchasers to know fine well that instead of enhancing their business any renaming of the ground will result in severe and full boycott of their products / services. This shouldnt just be NUFC fans, Ive argued for a while that its time supporters organisations from all clubs came together to help each other. Liverpool and Man U fans will at some stage need our support, you scratch our backs we'll scratch yours as they say. The NUST need time to assess what this latest hot air means to what is currently going on, the discussions, the hard work and the plans cant just stop dead because Ashley says its not up for sale. At the same time, we cant just go all out against a bloke we're currently trying to convince should sell us the club (or at least a stake in it) no matter how much he chooses to ignore us. Its a tightrope, its all too easy for those of us not fully involved in the negotiations with big business and financial minds to say we should storm the gates without giving a thought to the consequences there. At the same time, theres the potential for us (NUST) to get too drawn into whats going on at that level and miss the bigger picture, the most important thing is the continued survival of this football club at all levels, that includes its history. -

I think so, "don't speak for me", "who do they think they are" & the classic "doing more harm by protesting" are just some of the things I'm fairly sure can be attributed to KCG at some stage. Who is KCG and is he a paid up member of nusc? | \|/ Difficult to see what they can actually do though without it being counter-productive. And even then, it's difficult to see what it would achieve. They can't magic a buyer out of thin air. My own gut feeling is we might be better off not going up to really sicken the bastard. That goes against everything I want each time we play though. They could organise opposition come out and criticise him publicly and in the press point out what he is doing and put the case forward for Newcastle fans to try and give as little of their money to him as possibble while still supporting the team. -
Or continue his scientific research into how far blonde tv presenters fall when punched.
