calling the Man U / City derby huge and passionate is just the Manc medias way of passing off the hooliganism.

Hes a nice bloke whos done a difficult job quietly without any kind of fuss. Hes never in a million years going to be a competent Premiership manager though. As has already been said, we are where we are because of the lack of quality in the rest of the division. I'll be interested to see how he copes when the pressure starts, once we drop off the top spot and looking at a play off place will he have what it takes to push this club forwards and come out fighting? I think not, what he does in the next 4 months will decide whether hes got any kind of chance with us next season. I hope Im proved wrong.

FA Cup 4th Round / West Brom vs Newcastle
peasepud replied to brummiemag1's topic in Newcastle Forum
There are four groups of teams in the FA cup as far as I see it The Premier League top half - those teams who realistically have a chance of winning the thing, yes as we've seen this year sometimes the big boys get knocked out because they dont take it seriously enough at the early stages but get to the later ones and they'll always walk it. The lower league teams - Those who getting to the 4th and 5th rounds to draw a Liverpool or Man U would be better for them than promotion or would even counter a relegation in terms of finance. For definite these are the 2nd division and non-league teams with some 1st division ones thrown in. Most of the remaining teams who will be happy to go for it because its all thats going to happen to them this year. No chance of the league no real worries of relegation so what the hell lets have a cup run. The importance of that increases as the size of the club decreases getting you towards the 2nd group detailed above. Bottom six of Premiership, top six of Championship. - These 12 clubs are the ones who can least afford the distraction, winning the cup is a slim possibility as long as luck is with you and Chelsea/Man U/ Liverpool/ Arsenal/ Spurs/ Man City have a real off day when you finally meet them (because you will somewhere down the line). Having it affect your chances of being in the Premiership next season and the absolute windfall that comes with it is just too great a problem. -
The whole "your support is fucking shit" malarky is just cringeworthy tbh so fans of a club thats in administration have travelled half way across the country on a cold January night are shit? As for the charver elements, its starting to really creep in. Last night there was a gang of teenagers (both lads and lasses) who moved themselves from the West side of the Leazes to the North East Corner, they were clearly trying to avoid the stewards and just took themselves a group of about a dozen seats at the back, no interest in the game at all.

FA Cup 4th Round / West Brom vs Newcastle
peasepud replied to brummiemag1's topic in Newcastle Forum
Its not about devaluing the competition, personally I would love to goto Wembley and see us lift the cup, everytime Ive been there its been heartbreak so the day it happens will be fantastic. I am however realistic and all I see from yesterday is us being battered by one of the only two teams to rival us for the league, they are buoyed by it and we are down. We now have a suspended player in a key position and 4 others who are another step closer to suspension. All our players are that little bit more tired and closer to injury than if they hadnt played. Nothing good has come out of being in the 4th round. -
Stevie will go fucking mental.

That just reads wrong on so many levels.

Btw, me and 2J are off to a whisky-tasting night at Blackfriars tomorrow. Stick that in your pipe and mince it. 'Singles' night tbh. Those two and drinking whisky, fookin hell, I hope Blackfriars have reclining chairs. Hope they're wipe clean n'all.

Worryingly, in the up-coming NUST elections Mr Wraith will no doubt be pushing himself forward for the chair. Is he getting involved???? Fuckin hell. I'd rather have Kevin Miles. This is the thing though, anyone can put themselves forward, while staying well clear at the start hes happily sliding in there now and Id put money on that he'll be going for the elections, what better way to get yourself into the public eye?, all the things people throw at us would become true, you'd get "Wraithy" popping up on screen as the head of the NUST wherever possible. It will be down to the membership to ensure that the best candidate wins (if SW is that best candidate then so be it, but I bet he wont be), my fear is that because those Id personally want to see taking this forward have actually done the opposite of the criticism (ie stayed out of the limelight) then they wont be known come voting time and people will vote for the name they recognise.

Ahhh another inaccurate story of how the boys were away when it mattered. Speaking of which, whatever happened to the fat man suing the Sun for the "party in LA" story? wasnt he going to donate all the money from that to the academy?

You say that like its a surprise.

Apparently Simpson is asking for £15k for the season remaining rising to £20k if we're promoted. Only our best players will get £30k. I would have thought that was a fair enough wage request for someone whos been a fairly solid part of our promotion push. The again Ashley refused to pay out £25k to keep Beye so that figures.

Ive got a bad feeling that this could be the affirmation of our slide downwards. Win this and Im confident we'll go on to take the league, draw or lose it and I reckon we'll be in a play off place by mid February.

Its not bad, theres plenty on there to watch as well as being a very competent PVR, record two channels at the same time, series record, all the usual stuff. Currently we're working our way through Series One of 24, 30 Rock and House. Theres also currently all 8 series of Red Dwarf as well as early Fools & Horses etc. The Replay facility is good too, if you've missed a programme within the alst week then theres a good chance its on there. Movies and Music wise though its shit.

hmmm Ive seen a couple of series of 24 but in no particular order so we started again, Series 1 is on BT Vision at the mo, hopefully theyll be following it with the other series in order soon.

Arent we in year 3 of their 5 year plan? the same plan that will see us competing for "everything" a la Villa and Arsenal?
