Sorry guv but what exactly are you trying to do? Are you meaning out and about with a laptop (which you say you dont like) or connecting your home PC to a mobile phone to connect? If its the latter then I used to use the iPhone as a backup connection for any times there were problems with my home one, that required a wifi connection though so needed there to be a router. Once it was setup though (by creating a VPN (Virtual Private Network)) it was straight forward, merely connected as you would normally and although not as fast as the main connection it was still more than adequate. To connect by Bluetooth you'd need a bluetooth connection on the PC which I think Ive had about 3 dongles for in the past and not found one that works! The Mobile dongles you can buy for connection dont require a seperate phone, they have a SIM card in them which is used merely for data. You either have a contract or use a PAYG version, I use an O2 one when Im away and its about £2 for 24 hours connecting and a £5 for a week, does the job for whiling away the hours in a hotel room somewhere but I wouldnt like to use them for anything more than that.

Ive been experiencing problems with my home connection, every evening its up and down more times than a makem lass in a bus shelter. Turned out when I rang BT that Ive been throttled under their fair usage policy (admittedly it was for using 56Gb in the first week of March), no warning, no questions just bang you're out. Throttling for BT however doesnt mean stopping your Torrent ports or reducing my speed to 512Kb, no nowt as sensible as that, what they do is allow you to be connected for two minutes then swtich you off for 30 seconds. Wankers

Just a fucking bit None of us support our football club because they make a profit, none of us should ever be contemplating putting profit before success. I think people get the word profit and turnover mixed up. Turnover is what we should be looking for in the way of financial success not profit. Profit is what goes to the shareholders at the end of the year, turnover is what drives your club and what is needed to ensure on field success. Profit simply means that someone isnt spending enough somewhere, theyre raking in cash but not investing it. You should be taking that profit and turning it into players, investing in the first team squad to ensure on field success, on field success means higher turnover, higher turnover means more to spend on the team, more to spend on the team means better players, better players means more interest from fans, more shirts sold, more names put on those shirts, more turnover, more turnover means better players, better players means a higher league position, higher league position means more turnover, more turnover means better players......repeat to fade. We are NOT in some financial nirvana, far from it, we're sitting with debts piling up, turnover down and a quality of playing staff that resembles the likes of Wigan, Hull etc. Is that going to make kids go out and buy shirts? is it fuck. People slate the previous chairman for purchasing Owen, trophy signing etc, maybe he was but nobody could have predicted the flop he was going to be, what did happen though was that a couple of those millions we spent came straight back in with the rush to get a new shirt emblazoned with Owen 10. How many teenagers do you think rushed out to get Best 20 done? How many grown men will that signing convince to order a Season Ticket...."look pet ah knaa we're skint but its Leon Best maaaan pet man" I just wish people would see the financial side for what it is, we are NOT in a good financial position, gate receipts down, shirt sales down, corporate sales slashed, advertising down, sponsorship deal is 40% the amount it was last time. The only thing that keeps the wolves at bay is the fact that we've slashed our wage bill, reduced staffing in areas other than the team, cut the quality of our product and are merely living on the hope that all will be well. It wont, not under this model, maybe I'll be proven wrong and we'll survive in the Prem next season but thats all we will do, survival is not what I support my club for, I dont dream of telling my son that he'll love the last game of the season when we're all sitting there crapping bricks, watching the game while listening to radios to hear how Hull are doing. "The thrill of the race for 16th place, nowt compares to it son, Ive been to Camp Nou for the Champions League and its shite compared to a relegation dogfight at the JJB.This is where its at kidda, count youself lucky, when I was your age we didnt get to experience this day week in week out, oh no we were too busy trying to compete." Im fairly sure in return he wont be pinning copies of the clubs balance sheet on the wall and dreaming one day of becoming an accountant so he too can make something so beautiful as a profit loaded return.

As a team were playing well, Jonas is having an off day. Defence are bored but for me it's Guthrie that's stood out, he's bossed the midfield. I'm going to be bored if the 2nd half is anything like the 1st as Im in the Leazes

5 -1 Lovenkrands to get a hat-trick.

He did, and yes we were all suckered, my argument would be that Hall did nothing to confirm how good or bad Ashleys intentions were. He took no time to look into him, he merely grabbed the cash and ran. Plus as "Life President" he should now be kicking off but he doesnt. Im not sure how you can level that at SJH, Perhaps Ashley came in with good intentions. Perhaps he just bullshitted him. Nobody really knows (bar SJH and Ashley) though, so I guess its a moot point. The speed at which the deal was done proves he didnt spend any time looking after the best interests of our club imho. Anyone can walk into a football club and spout anything they like to the current custodians but its down to them to check that out. I agree that he didnt have any legal requirement to do so however morally and as a "fan" he should have put the clubs long term future ahead of any quick buck, he owed us that much considering it was the fans who ensured he received his hefty millions over the years. I well believe that had he done the necessary checks then he'd have still sold to Ashley, there was nothing there to say that the fat man was going to end up the way he did. At least then though, he could hold his head up and say "I checked". Its time we used the word custodians rather than owners when referring to whoever is in charge, thats all they are the holders of the keys, this football club will always be the property of the fans, the people who rightfully own it. Seymour, McKeag, Hall, Shepherd, Ashley they're all just passing through as far as Im concerned. EDIT: Something Ive not made clear from the posts above is that I credit Hall with the rejuvenation of this club, he, Shepherd and co pulled us up from the brink and turned us into a club that competed with the best of them. Its going to take another Hall to do exactly the same again only this time, as Hall himself alludes to it wont be good enough to pull a million quid or so together and add in a ton of ambition and business sense. It will take hundreds of millions to even get us close to it again.

I can see why people were worried about the way we were heading but giving them stick for giving us the best football they have and probably will see for a long time is more than a little stupid. Anyone licking Ashley's arse is a moron, I don't think that is the current mood though. You still have me down as this Halls and Shepherd hater despite never providing any evidence. there are plenty of people licking his arse really? name and shame them. as far as i can see on here, most people think that ashley's time in charge has been a disaster. I think its fair to say LM is referring to members of a N Other board.....

The money he made selling our club to the first person that would give him the blood money he wanted? regardless of that persons intentions or ability? selling his shares behind the back of his business parter (ie Shepherd) while he lay in a hospital bed? All that is twatful, at best. To be, however, our clubs life president and never be seen at the ground or never be seen to be questioning whats going on is unforgivable. The final nail in the coffin however is to then write an article bleating on about how clubs being bought by people with money who want them as a plaything is wrong when he sold the club to someone who gave that very same reason for taking over. As for not having a problem with the money he made when he decided to get out, Id love to be in a position where I take on a football club "for the love of it", put in a fairly minimal investment then make millions a year out of it and then sell it on for £55m profit and still have people saying he deserves it. You're one of a kind though CT I'll give you that, in one thread you'll argue that the Halls almost bankrupted us and Ashley saved the club yet in another you say you think they fully deserved the millions they took from us. You cant have it both ways, any criticism thrown at Shepherd must also equally go to the Halls, just as the praise for the good times should to. As Caulkin said, take a look down the road for how selling your local football club should be done. Not for the highest bidder or the first past the post but ensuring they have the clubs interests at heart.

SJH- step up and put your money where your mouth is. On the one hand he bangs on about regional ownership and the clubs belonging to the people, then has a sly dig at NUST. Why not help them out with cash & experience instead of rubbishing the idea Johnny? Help the fans? but how would they pay him for that help? Surely they dont expect it for free? the fucking peasants.

You read that and at times think "yeah that makes sense" then you remember he's the bloke who made a fast few million by selling out our club to the 1st person who could fart £50 notes.

Devastating, Ive met Sophie and various members of her family a couple of times through the work the Trust was doing to help. Lovely little girl and when I met her it was literally a week after I found out I was going to be a father. Seeing a kid like that, suffering from both the cancer and its treatment yet still sitting laughing is both inspirational and heartbreaking and at that point in time made me realise just what was involved in parenthood. I cant imagine what her family are going through at this moment, no amount of stuff beforehand could prepare you for that.

Big clubs are the ones that have the fanbase, infastructure and ambition to be at the top. We used to have all that and more, now its just fanbase and who knows how many more yo yo seasons before most of those go.

When the Geordie lass started singing I thought she was probably the wrost singer on earth....until I heard the rest of them, one or two made her seem quite good. tbf the first lass had the wrong song, I would say with a voice like hers maybe a little Barry White would have been more appropriate.

Newcastle United Statistics site.................................
peasepud replied to accadacca's topic in Newcastle Forum
Yeah Im working on them at the minute, trouble is because theyre taken from the sites pages they're not in an ideal format, Ive managed to extract the match data from all the other stuff (such as the players, league positions etc) and should have that into a table later on today. The likes of appearances data is straight forward although ideally Id like to generate that based on each individual games data. What we'll then need to do is work out exactly what is missing and start working on getting that in there too. I assumed the xls files were just the same data as the csv's is that the case? -
Llambias - Fans that criticise are "not reasonable"
peasepud replied to Happy Face's topic in Newcastle Forum
I read that earleir and was quite surprised how "for" Ashley the comments were. Was going to post it myself...... I think they do reflect how the majority feel and that they just want to "move on". Even after all that has happened the current position is creating dare I say a "feel good factor". Naturally we chew these things over more regularly than a lot of fans and by the very nature of the internet set up have some very trenched in positions. I can hand on heart say 99% of fans that get in the cab just talk about the positive aspects of the Toon and not the Ashley / Llambias sagas. seriously.... you need to get more fares. -
One day, just once Id like to read a Dekka statement that didnt involve telling us how "fantastic Mike is", live with the abuse you idiot and stop trying to put all the ills of this football club on the heads of the fans. You got us into this mess, you get us out of it but whether you like it or not, you'll not change the way you're viewed by the fans with statements such as this.

Are you one of those window cleaners that does the Sage like?

I think at that stage it should be reclassified as a statement rather than joke.

However if he films it and puts it on youtube then he could be looking at a good pass mark for his A level. Slightly related, who was it we thought could have topped himself that time? put some post on, we took the piss and then didnt post for a week....
