This is one area where I do understand the complaints of Tanni Grey-Thompson et al - there's no doubt that in team sports, say, and even tennis/athletics to an extent, the male version gets the lion's share of the media coverage. On the other hand, the male version is always going to be the "elite" at a human level, and hence more interesting to the non-enthusiast - rightly or wrongly, nobody would really care if there was a female equivalent to Usain Bolt, for example (just ask the man on the street who Carmelita Jeter is - the fastest female ever if you ignore the clownish dope fiend that was FloJo, but no real public profile at all). The crux of the matter is that female sportstars just aren't as good as their male equivalents. McEnroe reckoned a few years ago that he would still comfortably beat the top women tennis players. Serena Williams criticised him for it but didn't fancy having a game to prove him wrong.

Not quite sure how we got from my comment to ' political correctness gone mad' tbh but I wasn't just talking about people competing to who grieves the best etc. Just generally that people are more bothered about pushing their own agendas, using any situation (e.g. the tragic suicide of a young man) to to do so, completely ignoring the situation itself to do so.

Speed only died on Sunday yet there are people already squabbling about how to show respect for him, who is doing it, why we should be doing it or if we should be doing it at all and for soldiers instead. Incidentally how to remember dead soldiers was also a huge debate recently. Everything is such a huge competition to get the last word, to be on the highest horse, rather than just shutting up and reflecting on the bigger picture. I'm sure it wasn't always like this. Is that just society these days? Is it message board culture (whatever that is)? Who knows. It's bloody depressing anyway.

I think you've got to understand that football is a money game, and whoever has the most money is going to have the best team and win - whether that money comes from loaded owners, or decades of merchandise flogging from building up a global brand, you're not going to get a plucky club run by locals or built on sound ethical principals etc winning. Probably the most 'principled' title contenders of recent years have been Arsenal but they just can't compete now. Man City (can't see them not winning) will have bought the title, but I don't really find it more distasteful than Man Utd winning it. At least it will be someone other than Terry or Ferguson lifting the title.

It won't download anything! It says 'no incoming connections' on the info bar along the bottom, despite having a good internet connection. When I click on this message it gives me a number of options which are all gibberish to me - encryption, incoming/outgoing ports,interface etc. Any ideas? Cheers Luke
