If you really think what Reina did was violent conduct then I fear for your safety on a night out. There was minimal if any contact between him and Perch and his reaction was embarrassing. But as many people have said, that's how the game is played now, so why should we be any different? The real culprits are the referees, and by extension the FA. Diving has been a problem for a while but instead of stamping it out it's been allowed to fester to the extent that football is barely a contact sport and you get situations like Dzecko looking for the penalty against Sunderland on Saturday, then people (including former referee Dermot Gallagher on SSN this morning) saying that there was contact so he had the 'right to go down'. You only have the 'right to go down' if the law of gravity dictates you must ffs. As a Newcastle fan I was glad to see Reina sent off, but as a football fan I wish the referee had told Perch to get up, get off and have an early bath. Because until they do start doing that it will remain the status quo.
