Important to finish above the makems ?
luckyluke replied to essembeeofsunderland's topic in Newcastle Forum
I think anyone who says they don't care if we finish above them or not is lying to themselves tbh. I'm not even from Newcastle but I'd rather finish above the tramps if I had the choice (and more so than the likes of Villa/West Ham etc). Obviously it's not a priority though, I'd much rather finish 14th below them than 16th above them, for example. -
My boss? He was still working while she was ill (although may have taken the odd sick day to look after his kids, I don't know). He took compassionate leave when she died for about a month. Point is he was still under contract (he didn't leave it then return). Agree totally that the rest of us would not just soldier on, that our employers would make allowances, to a point. I'm with J69, Happy Face and CT to an extent - there are a number of rumours which aren't consistent with her being ill and indeed point to some other cause (i.e. him putting it about), and you'd think if she was actually ill and it was a noble cause then player/his agent/family/prospective new club may have mentioned something about this (compare with Gavin Peacock). However this information might still be forthcoming so of course this is all conjecture...but my gut feeling is that he's been up to no good...

I do have a lot of sympathy for Colo (if his wife is ill) but plenty of people are ill and they and their partners still go to work. One of my consultants' wife died in late September and he was back by November. If he needs to move to Argentina then so be it, but he needs to buy out his contract, we should not feel obliged to just let him go.

75% of what you make above a million I thought?

Gutted, I got a £20 voucher from them for Christmas which they apparently now won't accept. Obviously small potatoes to people's jobs etc.

I've really gone off them recently, and this was prime example of why. Their "you're simply wrong" approach to anyone who disagreed with them over it was very tiring. Turned off the Oscars podcast after they found all of Amy Adams/That other cunt's shit jokes funny then started bleating on about THE SAME CUNTING BY-THE-NUMBERS FILM THEY'VE BEEN KNOCKING OUT FOR FIFTY FUCKING YEARS (a fact which is for some reason celebrated) not being nominated for awards. -
The oscars rewarding The Artist is like CT praising Messi.
-
These awards are close to meaningless for artistic merit, certainly in the major categories anyway.
-
They should the dirty fuckas, they live in the sewer!
-
Fucked if I can comment on the rights/wrongs of Collocini without knowing why. What I do know is that him leaving us should not paralyse and doom us in the way it certainly would do if the cunts could run a club properly. Every time we're begging for a position to be strengthened we lose someone we've already got!

Ridley Scott can construct a good 100 minutes of thriller but he's a shit storyteller who needs to get out of his own arse. Prometheus being a prime example.

This thread is life itself - the start of life, death and everything in-between! Congratulations Happy Face. Brock - try a similar internet/food based pun ie "Surf n'Turf: recipies on the web." Sorry for you loss 2bias.

I think you might be superimposing Sheen's performances as Blair onto his one of Clough - I didn't get that impression and neither did those that knew him. In a documentary where the Leeds players were unanimous in damning the film, they all said Sheen nailed Clough to a tee. -
Takes all sorts I guess. My girlfriend has promised to leave me if I ever get like that with exercise routines /diets!

I was fairly sure that you were different people before but since he's gone you've been a lot more visibly irritating, so either you are the same person or you've taken it upon yourself to become as annoying as LBT was. Whichever it is makes you a twat anyway so please fuck off. -

This is essentially the same point but: Jackson has the benefit of making the film after making after LOTR. Tolkein didn't; the Hobbit was a child's story. Jackson could have made a light hearted, shorter version of the Hobbit, but that wouldn't be in keeping with the tone set by the LOTR films. Therefore he has to bring in darker themes and those that allude to the later books/films. Which adds to the length. I'm not a Tolkein/Jackson fanboy by any means and I was very suspicious of the need to make the book take up so many and such long films. However, after seeing it, I felt the length and pacing of this film was appropriate in my eyes, as to whether it needs 9hrs of cinema altogether I can't comment (nor can anyone else IMO) until we've seen all three parts. The subtle changes to Bilbo's development are needed to give his character an arc in this film otherwise he'd be a bit dull. -

I think all the changes they made were necessary for a post-LOTR film series (remember that Tolkein wrote the Hobbit first) and I really enjoyed it. -
Well I hope all the saps who wished him well are happy.

I think the opposite tbh - its impressive what you can still lift/run if you've been off for a bit. After all I did still manage to lift the same - just my muscles weren't used to doing it so it bloody hurt after
-
Fingers crossed that 1. we actually do and 2. It's someone who can play with Cisse. I don't expect anything (well, apart from disappointment) with this club but if they do manage the above then selling him might actually put us in a better situation.
-
You need to be a bit careful if you've been off for a while. I once did squats with what I lifted before a month long break and could barely walk for weeks.
-
Providing that Colo doesn't want to go there and those are genuine quotes, that's a bit cuntish from his dad.

Cheers but I've been once before (albeit ten years ago) so have done the obvious, and my girlfriend moved back to the UK 18 months ago after living there for two years, so we should be ok!
