  1. Disappointing but hardly surprising. The stakes and the money involved means that everyone has an agenda to an extent and very, very few are keen to disadvantage themselves excesively for the sake of principal. We kept Barton for worse. Every man and team for themselves. Thatcher's legacy.
  2. Coming soon: watching paint dry.
  3. They can act whenever they want, they make the rules ffs! They only CHOOSE to act in exceptional circumstances. Such as the victim playing for Man Utd (although difficult to contest because the refs always seem to see enough of such incidents to send the opposing player off..).
  4. Gullit was fairly highly regarded. Shudder.
  5. If we weren't so dominant would you be framing his suit?
  6. You only have to look at the Wigan game to witness the scale of the FA's ineptitude. Although it's obviously for the best that Hadeira made a quick recovery, a silver lining to him not doing so could have been the FA being forced to review their absurd policy of not intervening if a referee claimed to have seen an incident. Particularly as the club were making noises about legal action. It was interesting to see Savage and Murray's rather open bemusement about the FA's inconsistency when predicting Suarez's punishment on Motd last night.
  7. If I was Ivanovic I'd be getting tested for HIV and hepatitis and asking Suarez to do the same.
  8. 12 years, 7 months and four days actually.
  9. If this thread must stay on the first page for the time being can someone please correct the glaring grammatical error in its title?
  10. Tbf I don't see a problem with it. A new manager winning 3-0 away in his second match, at the club's fiercest rivals, for the first time in 12 years is quite notable. A reflection of our dominance that they'd recognise it like this though. If we'd won the FA cup last season and Pardew and the club did the same would any of us had been embarrassed? I wouldn't. Man U probably wouldn't do the same, but they win the thing every few years.
  11. Wasn't the impression I got, but whatever. Edit: @MT's last post
  12. MT outraged at Liverpool fans being outraged at the rest of football being outraged. Tbf 606 was mostly full of Liverpool fans saying it was disgraceful and they want rid of him.
  13. No, but he might do something about poor finishing in training. It's difficult to really blame everything on Pardew due to his lack of influence on transfers but ultimately EVERYTHING is the responsibility of the management of the club. If your players keep missing sitters then coach them to be better finishers or get new players. You don't just say "we'll I've done all I can" and accept that you're always going to need ten shots before one goes in.
  14. Nah way too coherent and he wouldn't have kept himself to this thread
  15. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22191030 Glad it's not Muslims (we presume) for people like this.
  16. I've not spoken to my friends about it; I have no idea if they were planning on going or not. I'm merely stating I'm glad they didn't get involved to give it a personal context. It's all very well people on here wishing that "something" had kicked off but there would have been obvious consequences to that. Not least that the papers would have painted such opposition as inhuman scum, which you're clearly gutted hasn't happened.
  17. I think that any anti-Thatcher protesters remember what her private army dished out to the miners and didn't fancy taking a beating from four thousand of the cunts today. Plus it would have given wankers like this another chance to crow. I've got friends in London who are vehemently anti Thatcher, been to anti fascist marches etc in the past, and I'm glad they're not in the clink/ICU/the same place as that poor bloke from the G20.
  18. Lovely bit of propaganda for the Tories there, everything's coming up roses for them at the minute. Obviously this bloke is an idiot and a prick, but -I doubt I'd have flinched from his lame punch let alone an 8ft stallion -if you uses horses to combat rioters it's inevitable that they'll get hurt. Millions of horses have died in war. Animal protestors should direct their ire towards the police if this incident really offends them -it's only a fucking horse
  19. Sorry for your loss DK.
  20. On a conceptual level it's rather strange how the ideas of 'liberalism' (in favour of liberty, i.e. freedom) and 'socialism' (an ideology that benefits all of society) are seen as evils by the right. Why would any sane and decent person find these ideas troubling? The answer, of course, is that because people are selfish, greedy and unsympathetic to the problems of others. These are very, very broad strokes obviously, and there are few people who are entirely good or entirely bad. But the fact that 'the right' is a prominent and powerful voice which always must be listened to, and depressingly over the last 30 years, adhered to, is a sad reflection of the humanity of this country, and who have we got to thank for that? Maggie fucking Thatcher. Furious about the way the Tories are celebrating Thatcher as if she's a national hero, ignoring the opinions of millions.
  21. I think I would have enjoyed that as you say beautiful piece of film somewhat less had they been leaving from a Walkabout instead of that fountain. Wry looks exchanged between Matt Damon and that old fella over a tired, vomit stained cliche ridden bar.
