ottmar hitzfeld TBH. some ruthless german efficiency would do us no harm. we won't in the next 3 years get into the top 4 unless we scrap the majority of this team and buildfrom the defence forwards. we have ( if he comes back from the nasty injury) 1 world class player in owen, and several (like duff parker and emre) that are good enough to keep us in the top half of the table. oh and forget about the attacking flair side of things, i'd rather us play badly for 80 minutes and nick a 1-0 or a 2-1 any day.

ginola = french for fine dribbler with little end product (statistically) robert = excellent crosser and free kick taker, created more goals in 02 ( ithink) than any other player and scored about 8-10 as well.... both lacked application and both went missing from the game for long periods of time. now if only we had someone that could dribble and cross and be there for the full 90!

as good as parker is for us, he's not a world class player, by a long shot. typical english box to box player tbh. and he's not a holding midfielder. not in a million years. Joe cole is probably the best dribbler and carrier of the ball that england have got. final ball needs a bit of work, but his finishings quite good. overall, i beleive he's the most improved player we have and was one of the players that did not disgrace himself at the world cup.

currently gerrard is our one world class player. ferdinand is not, terry is not, lampard is not. beckam despite his good -ish form for club is not the playerhe was from 97-2002... rooney needs a few more years, this season will be a write off tbh.

if we'd have gone there with 4-4-2 we'd have been taken to the cleaners. looking at the teams they had 8 or 9 outfield players in good form. we had rather less than that. sure we have been relatively succesful since the start of the premier league, but we need people to make us winners again. no one in the current squad (possibly with the exception of owen, parker and given) would get in my top 40 premiership players for this season based on previous and current form.
