Pompey try to scupper Martins deal

Bum thought I was being uber quick. -
Skysports.com understand that Portsmouth have made a renewed bid to snatch Obafemi Martins from under the noses of Newcastle. We revealed on Sunday that a €16 million (£10.9 million) deal had been struck between Newcastle and Internazionale for the Nigerian striker. "I can confirm we have agreed a fee with Inter Milan for Obafemi Martins," chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club's website. "It is now up to the player and the agent to agree terms on offer." However, it can now be revealed that Pompey have not given up hope of landing Martins and have now made a fresh bid - with an increased offer of personal terms. It is now believed that Martins is seriously considering making the move to Fratton Park rather than St James' Park. Newcastle held lengthy discussions over the weekend with Martins's representatives and progress was made. But nothing was signed and that has given Portsmouth the opportunity they needed to make their move. While Newcastle can offer Martins big wages, they cannot live with the new found financial power of Pompey - who are now bankrolled by Alexandre Gaydamak. Manager Harry Redknapp is keen to bolster his squad and Martins would no doubt represent his biggest coup to date, despite the summer arrivals of England internationals Sol Campbell, David James and Glen Johnson.

It was really good as close as a series could get without becoming a documentary. Some licences taken but not as bad as the Conn Iguddon (SP) series of books.

I love that analogy. Didn't they go on a losing streak in the Championship before Big Mick turned them around? 182057 Won their second game iirc. Which was a shame as had they lost it they would have been officially the worst team in recorded history in any league. 182093 One short of equalling Darwen's record of consecutive league losses wasn't it? 182094 So where are they now they haven't won since they joined the prem.

Aye if they can get the Hall's 40% it shouldn't be hard to buy up enough to have a majority holding in which case I think they may be able to oust Shepherd from the chairman's role, assuming only a simple majority is needed. If that happened then I'd fully expect Fat Fred to fuck off with his tail between his legs. 182022 You can bet that Fred is telling the Halls that a condition of selling has to be his continued involvement. Not going to be that easy to get rid of the fat cunt. 182025 I don't think he can make that demand. -

The Muslim community are victims of their own silence. I have not heard strong muslim voices denouncing the Muslim on Muslim violence in Iraq. I have not heard strong voices saying that these suicide bombers are going to hell for going against the quran (see my sig). Until this starts to happen Mistrust and fear will prevail. And as we all know "Fear leads to hate, hate leads to anger, And that way lies the dark side" -

Premiership to axe 'injury break'

The worst case I have seen of this was Owen Hargreaves against I think Sweden. He put in a tackle next to his own byline and gave away a corner. He was rolling around 2 yards off the pitch and while no one was looking crawled back on to it just in front of where the corner was taken.
