We're talking about the extremes here, my main point was more directed towards those people who were shot or injured in another way but go on to make full recoveries and can return to work. Compensation is paid for the effect on the person's ability to earn for the rest of their life based on the fact they were injured whilst in service of the country. Especially if that person is only contracted for a certain period. Remember they are then asked to leave the army if they can no longer serve. Do you expect them to live off the dole and invalidity benefit fo rthe rest of their lives. Would you be happier with no army?

Although I am not advocating it. Does anyone else get annoyed with the adverts saying everyone who does it are funding the terrorist networks and drug dealers? My main point on this would be that I always thought drug dealing was self funding. That's the whole point isn't it. I am pretty sure the drug dealers I know of don't have part time jobs to make sure they have enough money coming in so they can keep the price of the drug's down.
