The technology simply isn't there for even a fairly small population to be "self sufficient" with non-nuclear and non-fossil fuel energy. There have been 20 further sites in Scotland that have been identified as having the same or better potential. And as for transport I would say the era of the petrol driven engine is on the horizon with the improvements in hydrogen fuelled engine technology. And guess what gets made as a by product of some hydro electricity plants. Or from sea water which Scotland has in abundance.
