I am a Structural Engineer and we have in our consultancy GIS peeps and I know they are busy for now and I know some others who have been laid off due to the way the construction industry has been hit. Thing is with GIS in the construction industry they seem to have long lead in times and a few projects in advance so they dont seem to be hit as quick as us, so who knows.

I should be earning 45k+, but I'm earning no where near that, because I cover the North of England and Scotland, and the shitey Midlands. Let me tell you it's fucking dead, whoever says the country is coming out of recession is an idiot, it's getting worse, I speak to senior players from leading construction companies every day, and every single day I speak to 20 people who are laying off, or have just laid off. The banks still aren't releasing funds (apart from in the South), and all the major projects are government funded. So the good thing to come out of my D Day is now I'm working Southern markets where it is actually more buoyant. As you know Stevie I am also in construction, albeit via a consultancy and I know what the industry is like, FUCKED. When a massive consultancy like WYG are on the verge of folding something is wrong. Chin up marra.
