It is an insult to Ben Arfa that he has to try and supply Shola fucking Ameobi I know Barfa was frustrating at times but at least he was trying to create something right up until the final whistle. He deserved the goal. On another day, had our centre backs turned up and had the referee not been an absolute mug, we would have won this. Recent refereeing decisions in the PL have been woeful, even outside of Newcastle games. No idea what they are supposed to do about it but even so, it changes a game and makes it less about the players there on the pitch and more about whether or not the ref is going to make the right decisions. And the players are noticing it. Johnson was going down looking for whatever he could get, and sure enough he wins a penalty. It is the same with him waving fake cards around trying to get Santon sent off.

Shola fucking Ameobi. What the fuck does ANYONE see in him? Seriously, at least Best puts himself about a bit but Shola looks like he couldn't care less. I know we hardly have any other options right now, but there must be someone we can stick up there. Even someone from the youth team would do more. The thing I don't get about the second penalty is that if it was actually one then surely Krul should have been off? Really doesn't make sense. Johnson had just kicked the ball anywhere and taken the challenge for all he could. Still can't believe that Ameobi is still on the pitch. Woeful performance from him.

I felt sorry for Guthrie when he got the injury just as he was coming back and looking decent (he scored in one of the cups, didn't he?). Now he is getting a chance again he is carrying on where he left off and putting in a decent performance. Good to see him finally coming good.

Really really can't wait until we have everyone back fit and playing again now. When Cabaye went off against QPR we just looked so much more fluid with HBA on. The only thing really stopping us putting a load past QPR was the lack of a decent strikeforce and no one making the runs to relieve the midfield of their possession. The thing with this new signing, as well as having Demba #1 back, is that we have a team of real threat going forward. There is the option of the through balls to the Dembas, crosses coming in for Ba, HBA rustling up something special, Cabaye threatening with his long shots, and so much more. We've seen a few times this season that we will start a game well but then just run out of ideas. That really shouldn't be happening any more.
