  1. Funny how Ryder has just realised this is newsworthy today...
  2. I hadn't thought of that but now you mention it I reckon you're spot on there. It'll be interesting to hear his answer when a journalist asks about his thoughts on the owner/managing director. Shearer's thoughts you mean? It would be interesting if we heard his real thoughts, but I think we'll get the 'Shearer-speak' straight bat for the time being. After all Shearer is working for Ashley, although Ashley probably feels it's the other way round just now On a side note, I bet Llambias is shitting himself at the prospect of working with Shearer
  3. The lying cunt - I'm sure I saw that on at least two other sources before the Ronny ran it. I think dotcom was one, I forget the other. Textbook Alan Oliver
  4. I'm more interested in Owen over the next eight games, and how Shearer and Dowie will play him. On the face of it you'd think Shearer will be a 4-4-2 man, but they'll surely consider Owen in that deeper role for the short-term. Shearer was full of praise for Owen last season when KK put him there. Not sure if Chelsea's the right game for it mind.
  5. It has. I wasn't sure because Shearer held a coaching role during the Souness nightmare. Don't know if it's been mentioned, but it seems clear to me that Shearer doesn't trust the owner or his people as far as he could throw them. The story goes that they've been in talks since the back end of last week and it was basically a done deal by Tuesday night. As far as I'm concerned the 24 hour delay in an official announcement has to have been at the insistence of Shearer who wanted a public acknowledgment that Wise was out and wouldn't be replaced before anyone announced he'd taken the job. To refuse to take their word that Wise would be jettisoned, implies to me that maybe he's spoken to Keegan or his confidants about how they work and isn't going to fall into the same trap. I hadn't thought of that but now you mention it I reckon you're spot on there.
  6. Doubt he'll get that much of a pay-off - only contracted till the end of the season. Plus he's got small-man syndrome, and he's just been turfed out by a very big man. That's got to hurt
  7. He'll be one very unhappy little cockney this morning I bet There's no reason at all why the club can't continue recruiting young players just as they have been. Vetere is still there, as presumably are all the other scouts. Just bring in/promote someone to co-ordinate the operation without giving them the divisive title Director of Football, and reduce their first-team-related remit to flagging up possible targets. Dead simple, a lot cheaper, and how it should have been done in the first place. Anyway get the fuck in!
  8. Aye we'll all be so blinded by Shearer's appointment we won't notice if we get relegated, or have another transfer window when we spend the thin end of fuck all, or are involved in another relegation battle next season. We'll all just close our eyes and sing Shearer, Shearer. What a fucking arsehole he is.
  9. Nowt serious about my comment about saving money on Wise's wages - i'm just revelling in his demise There must be some technicality you can get a dwarf on surely? Working short shifts, something like that.
  10. Hopefully at least part of it is covered out of the saving made by sacking Wise
  11. Pure speculation probably, but it's as least as plausible as believing Ashley's done a u-turn, which he'd pretty much have to do to get Shearer long-term. Shearer would certainly insist on control and investment. Mind you if there is anything in this I hope it isn't contingent on us avoiding the drop; we're still right in the clag after all. That presumes he'll still be here once the transfer window opens. You could more reasonably presume Shearer has been offered £1m for 8 weeks work without any responsibility outside of picking the team and training the squad we have until 24th May, and he's snapped their hand off for that kind of cash. I've no doubt Shearer will be on a king's ransom for these eight games, and that scenario is very possible, no question. I'd still put my money on Shearer being our manager next season though. And anyway, I prefer my presumption to yours

  13. Was the little cunt waiting for a taxi perchance? Fuck knows mate, dunno if he was inbound or outbound (I pray the latter) I just like the symbolic value in the idea of Dennis Wise waiting for a taxi I fucking hate him and the thought of him out of the club for good, which will surely happen now, fills me with joy
  14. I notice Cisse chinning some lass doesn't feature too highly 'Once again slip into the shadows'
  15. About twenty-five threads on RTG's first page and at least twenty of them about Shearer: Daft mackem bastards
  16. It's just occurred to me that the Phil Brown stuff might be talkshite's April Fool's story
  17. (from last November). I'd absolutely love to see Rob Lee come back as Shearer's number two me I wouldn't like to be in a round with them mind Aye Lee's a notorious skinflint they say. I vaguely recollect Howey saying something about him driving 300 miles for a free t-shirt or some such Just a gut feeling I've always had, but I think Lee would be perfect as number two here. If only wishing it could make it so
  18. (from last November). I'd absolutely love to see Rob Lee come back as Shearer's number two me
  19. Why on earth would that Mackem twat give up the managers job at Hull for us? No idea at all, and it does sound like a pile of horseshit to me like. Have Shearer and Brown got any connections? I can't think of anyone more unlikely, on the face of it, that Shearer might want to bring in. Shearer fucking hates mackems.
  20. Mental. I'm convinced we'll get more points over the next eight games than we would have otherwise, and that's all that matters for now. *Suspends cynicism about Ashley till the end of the season* Wise must be fucking toast as well I hope Shearer brings in Rob Lee, although I just had talkshite on in the car and Brazil said Phil cunting Brown is coming in as assistant (thankfully he's usually wrong).
  21. Wildly off topic but his name reminded me of this fantastic sequence from The Singing Detective. Joanne Whalley looking sexy as fuck is adequate compensation for the derailment I feel
  22. Next season's ST drive began the other week with Llambias's 'stick with us, you've seen worse' speech. This is phase two I suppose, the equivalent of the magazine interview last season (the one in which he told us Keegan had final say, and Wise's role was to bring in six academy players per season). His problem now is many of us will never again believe a single word the bullshitting bastard says.
