So, anyone seen anything yet that warrants a three year contract or is messiah syndrome going to kick in and we overlook everything else. Im comparing between Shearer and a proven good manager btw, not Shearer v Kinnear. Im a bit undecided. I like his honesty, his passion and the discipline (eating together parky) that he's brought in. But at the end of the day you need a lot more than that to be a good manager as many good players have proven over the years. Anyone else swayed one way or the other yet and based on what.

10 Days to go to the launch of the new Star Trek franchise of Films. The clips look awesome and given its history amongst all generations (no pun) this could be set to be the biggest film of all time. While not a trekkie... ....I cant wait for this. It is one of those rare occassions, like a bond movie, when I will go and watch the film at the cinema rather than alternative methods. Probably bollox but the sun website is reporting that Shearer has asked one Mr Daglish to be his director of football!

Shearer has today said that we will go out to win this game from the very "first minute". Sounds like attack, attack, attack attack attack!

I think regardless whether he "saves" us or not, I am now Adam ant that I would like him to remain for the next 5 years. Let's go into pre season on the right foot. Naturally this will all depend on what assurances he gets from Ashley, but that's a different story all together.

That may be an unfair judgement, considering the position he inherited, although it may well be all the judgement he can expect. It would be a very unfair judgement. Alex is right about how bad it obviously was which quite frankly is scandulous. I think shearer demonstrates that being a good ( not great) manager is not rocket science. Get a lot of the basics right, surround yourself with good people and buy decent players. Naturally we will have to wait and see for the latter.

Don't know about anyone else but I am already pleasantly surprised by the difference at Newcastle with having Shearer as manager. Some very good interviews with him on the journal website ( at work so can't copy and paste - maybe someone else can). Like what he's done about making the injured players stay all day and how this is having a dramatic effect on rehabilitation! Also like the honesty about matters that is coming through rather than the bullshit. For example with obama, had shearer not been their he would probably now be out for the season, however al has told him that he wants him to play through the pain barrier. Regardless of where we end up, I really hope we can hang onto him . Worth a read.

See 8 hours is quite a long time to fill in waiting for imminent death. First thing without a doubt would be to re-start smoking. Then its a case of do you sit around and mope or get stuck into some serious alcohol. There would be those wearing the foil hats that would wait to be "beamed up" and others who would rape and pilage and go out in a blaze of mayhem. Think I would get all the nearest and dearest and go to the local and get smashed.
