Just a reminder that coming up on the 18th September is National Moth Night. "Britains annual celebration of Moths". Also, tomorrow 10th is national suicide prevention day so if you know anyone or mod comtemplating the big goodbye, it is your duty to try and prevent it. Moving swiftly on to my favourite on the 19th is...... National...... talk like a pirate day. Perhaps we can take part and all posts must be written in ye olde pirate speak jimbo, sorry jim lad. For a month by month, day by day guide to more National days, please check the online calender. http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/cu...specialdays.htm

Sports Direct raises profit forecast

Forget that, the fact his shares have risen 82% and more importantly that he is outperforming the UK general retailers index by 19 percent will be making the city boys grovel at his feet. This will be more important to his ego than the actual share price as he will (rightly so) be expecting the share price to continue upward. Where as a year ago he may have been having serious concerns about his wealth collapsing, these results have put an end to that, make no mistake. He will be even more cock sure and it wouldnt surprise me one bit if this manifests itself in some way at NUFC over the coming weeks. -
His business is back on the up which will probably make him more bullish with us.

Probably virtually very little and it is probably the normal caretaker honeymoon before it goes tits up scenario. I personally give a lot of credit to the players for the change in spirit and everyone knows that once you start winning, everything seems to go right. Still credit to him for sticking in and handling himself very well. How can you say that? It had to take someone to turn things around, these were the same players who were losing game in game out last season. It took someone like Chris Hughton to get the morale flowing again and getting the players playing like they should. Full credit to him. I know we have lost aload of players but the majority on the pitch now are the same as last season. Rubbish im afraid. Chris Hughton is a good coach, period. If the first 4 games are down to Hughton, were the last 8 shearers fault? The credit has to to the players. For whatever personal reasons they have raised their "fighting" spirit. Some may have been trying to attract the eye and some might have realised the eyes of the world were upon them and they had something to prove. Personally I think with some of the "rich boys" gone, the likes of Smith and Barton (remember the argy bargy) have helped generate a great team spitit that has grown with every win. Good team spirit and morale is generated by good leadership on and off the field. To give all the credit to the players is disrespectful to Hughton and Calderwood who have obviously put alot of work and effort into turning us into a match winning team. By your reckoning then we could of had no manager since we got relegated yet we would still be where we are now. Yet numerous players have come out and heaped praise on Hughton and co for what they have done over the summer and how they have increased their confidence. Aye the fickle bastards calling for him to get the job are the same ones that were shouting for Shearer a few weeks ago.

They are Fascinating in their own right, but rather than remembering them as stories in some beamish time, if you try and transport them to now and your current location, the effect is even more chilling. My dad used to have a "war draw" with all sorts of bits and bobs in. Some of the pictures he had from the camps were horrific.

It's because hull were about to sign him on proper wages etc on a three year deal then pulled out at the last minute. We were only offering the loan which at the time was a poor deal in comparison. Now our deal is the only show in town (so far)

Heard a few bits and bobs on the media about this today and then just pondered the same breaking news 70 years on. Football league suspended for 6 years is obviously one of the minor issues, but still quite strange to think about today. Then life as you know it coming to a stop, being removed from home comforts, loved ones, friends, kids and sent overseas to kill or be killed. Next time you see an easyjet flying overhead, imagine sirens going off as bombs drop from it's back doors and kill all around you. Pretty scary really.

Breaking news on BBC. Can't be legal can it? Apparrently for tapping up!

From ESPN 1) "It's understandable that people are keeping one eye on the pot and another up the chimney." 2) "You get bunches of players like you do bananas, though that is a bad comparison." 3) "In some ways, cramp is worse than having a broken leg." 4) "The substitute is about to come on – he's a player who was left out of the starting line-up today." 5) "Of course, the weather favours the Chileans, doesn't it. I mean, it's a bit chilly." 6) "What disappointed me was that we didn't play with any passion. I'm not disappointed, you know, I'm just disappointed." 7) "There'll be no siestas in Madrid tonight." 8) "If I had a blank piece of paper there'd be five names on it.” 9) "I'd love to be a mole on the wall in the Liverpool dressing room at half-time." 10) "At this level, if five or six players don't turn up, you'll get beat." 11) "The tide is very much in our court now." 12) "Even though two and two might look like four, it could be three or five." 13) "Goalkeepers aren't born today until they're in their late twenties or thirties." 14) "It's like a toaster, the ref's shirt pocket. Every time there's a tackle, up pops a yellow card." 15) "That would have been a goal if it wasn't saved." 16) "They compare Steve McManaman to Steve Heighway and he's nothing like him, but I can see why – it's because he's a bit different." 17) "The ref was vertically 15 yards away." 18) "I came to Nantes two years ago and it's much the same today, except that it's totally different." 19) "The 33 or 34-year-olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around, if they're not careful." 20) "They're the second best team in the world, and there's no higher praise than that." What happened to his claim against Ashley? Did it get settled?
