  1. I understand the point. It's pure speculation though and does Hughton a bit of a disservice imo. As it does to the rest of the side. The team spirit is good but it's been better, if anything (as has the football) when two of the people listed weren't playing - Smith and Butt. Speculation!!!!!! This story is all over the place and will become louder after promotion. Does chris even give team talks???? So, do you think Hughton's a good manager then? Time will tell, but this story and similar ones elsewhere today certainly surprised me shall we say. Ofcourse you can then look at how this committee will be influential throughout the summer and into next year and whether that could be problematic, but hey that's discussion not wummery It may also not be a bad thing in the short term, stability and all, however I do like to think of a manager, managing.

  3. For those who haven't read some of these stories, here is a clip from the Telegraph. I was not only surprised it was quite this way, but a little surprised that it's coming out. One may feel this undermine what Hughtons achieved a bit ( I don't). So without this committee in place, things may have been a lot worse. Hughton's ego-free modus operandi has empowered his charges through a committee, including the former Bolton player, as well as Nicky Butt, Steve Harper and Alan Smith. "We've had a committee and if Chris has got something he wants to share with the lads he'll come to the four most experienced players," Nolan, 27, added. "It works having a third party. I'm here for them to have a little moan or whatever or I'd take their problem to Colin [Calderwood] or Chris. "We have a management that is so happy with the system. They allow us to manage the dressing room but if Chris comes in and says 'no that's not right, this is what we do', then that's it. It's finished, no matter what we say. When Chris wants something he gets it. "He is a great manager, a great fella. Make no mistake, they manage, we just play."
  4. Well drag yourself out of that armchair and create some threads
  5. once again no counter argument It looks like your taking the Alex guide to increasing post count without ever saying anything. I thought you had so much more!!!!! Come on, just this once, explain what's wummery about a thread on one of the most written about stories of the weekend! Dare ya
  6. you misunderstand, I'm not talking about their football credentials I'm talking about the leadership they showed at the famous 6-1 meeting when the four got together and decided to manage the dressing room. It also sounds as if their comittee went to see Ashley and demanded Hughton be paid permanent manager. It shows they cared about the situation and wanted to do something about it. Hence the fantastic team spirit that has been there ever since. It would have been quite easy for them to sit back, collect their wages and not give a fuck. This I believe will be THE story of our season and only now are details starting to drift into the media. Band of Brothers save the Toon.
  7. aye, I bit. So only season ticket holders can have an opinion
  8. You ungrateful fuckers!!!!!! Seriously All the talk of greedy footballers not giving a fuck and here's four lads who it seems took control and stabalised the ship. I couldn't be anymore serious! Perhaps one of you could express a counter point of view? And it's fuck all to do with Ashley or Llambias.... If anything it sounds more like they laid out there demands and got them!! Jeez some people!
  9. You need to start reading a better newspaper... "It is 45 years since Tyneside saw first hand their own players gain promotion. Not since 1965 have they done it at St James' Park."
  10. Pud, another depressingly gloomy soopafan post. All you see before you is doom and gloom. It just might not turn out as bad as you WANT everyone to believe. The main problem you have is that most fans have moved on, we've thoroughly enjoyed winning again even if it's in a poorer league. Where you see doom and gloom I see an owner who will either sell or not want to repeat mistakes do will invest. I see an energetic young manager who let's the results do the talking. I see a great team spirit and a team of old pros and young'uns playing for each other which while it may not be good enough to get us into Europe, is good enough to build on for next season. You are my worst kind of fan.... Moan, moan moan and piss on any little improvements that take place. Smile kidda.
  11. Now Alex I remember quite well you talking about being able to cancel your 3 year deal if you hadn't paid in advance!!!!! I however, was paying by direct debit and managed to cancel. I don't claim to be a sooopafan, I've had many a season ticket over the years and only came back for the Special K dream. I'm quite happy to going back to picking when i want and can afford to go. But your right, I might be their on Monday
  12. But we are so credit where credits due.
  13. More and more we are hearing about the legendary dressing room meeting where these four players "took control" and conducted the infamous "your either with us or against us" speech. At the time we had just been thrashed and were managerless. I also get the feeling they held talks with Mike Ashley and were instrumental in getting Hughton appointed and thus creating the much needed stability for this season. Had they not took control, we may have done a boro, a Leeds, who knows!! Point is, in these days of greedy, couldn't give a shit footballers, these four might have just saved our club and should possibly get the keys to the city. (only harper would drop them). Seriously, a debt of gratitude is owed by us all to the Fantastic Four.
  14. Breath hold and don't spring to mind. Leazes is like the daft old relative, sucking on a wurthers and mumbling about how the UK was much better before they let the "Darkies" in. He is so stuck in time that he gains no pleasure from the the club anymore. The owners not good enough, the managers not good enough, the players are not good enough. I doubt he will gain any enjoyment from promotion and generally struggle to recall many positive posts about the club at all other than historical. He seriously would be better taking up carpet bowls. The decline of Newcastle is a cross that he alone must bear. He only ever talks in negative comparisons and nothing that most of us would call improvement either now or in the future will ever be good enough. One of the papers today reminds me that this will be the first time the Geordie public have witnessed their team being promoted in over 45 years. Worth celebrating and worth looking forward to next year....
  15. Pud and Leazes......Caption Competition......
  16. So Mondays going to be the Big Day when promotion is finally sealed in front of a sell out, pissed up, Bank Holiday crowd. The usual suspects are trying to play down promotion and see it pass as a damp squib of an affair, but I hope most of you are really going to embrace this historic occasion and party like theres no tomorrow. This is on all accounts the fastest promotion in the clubs history with a few records broken along the way. This should give us confidence that while we may have lost a few players last year, the team spirit that replaced them has carried us through and we can look forward to the squad only improving next year. I will be working all day Monday, then either glory hunting along to the ground for the big game (pud ) or taking up front row seats at the boozer will several Kronenburgs. It would be nice if the club did something to mark the occasion such as those cow horns or freebie scarfes for the bairns and I also hope the team and Hughton stay on the pitch at the end for a standing ovation. Make no mistake, regardless what Leazes Mag will tell you, this is a great achievement to get straight back up and out of this league. We all had to bear the heartache of relegation, so dont be afraid to party, party, party. (To any toon ultras.....It would also be nice if Mike got a few cheers )
  17. Her latest headline, once again looking at any negative she can take from NUFC. I just wonder if she'll ever write about SAFC? Then again, like all mackems and Geordies, we all share one constant thing, an obsession with Newcastle United. The "reply" comments are quite damning
  18. Conservative Party: 67% Labour Party: 41% Liberal Democrats: 40%
  19. Krull by a country mile. Harper is over the hill and as static as the come.
  20. That's as clear as mud mr fist (and no, I haven't launched wikipedia on the I Phone). I take it I'm right and in particular would have thought all the lefties would have liked to see each household paying it's fair share??
