  1. More and more we are hearing about the legendary dressing room meeting where these four players "took control" and conducted the infamous "your either with us or against us" speech. At the time we had just been thrashed and were managerless. I also get the feeling they held talks with Mike Ashley and were instrumental in getting Hughton appointed and thus creating the much needed stability for this season. Had they not took control, we may have done a boro, a Leeds, who knows!! Point is, in these days of greedy, couldn't give a shit footballers, these four might have just saved our club and should possibly get the keys to the city. (only harper would drop them). Seriously, a debt of gratitude is owed by us all to the Fantastic Four.
  2. Breath hold and don't spring to mind. Leazes is like the daft old relative, sucking on a wurthers and mumbling about how the UK was much better before they let the "Darkies" in. He is so stuck in time that he gains no pleasure from the the club anymore. The owners not good enough, the managers not good enough, the players are not good enough. I doubt he will gain any enjoyment from promotion and generally struggle to recall many positive posts about the club at all other than historical. He seriously would be better taking up carpet bowls. The decline of Newcastle is a cross that he alone must bear. He only ever talks in negative comparisons and nothing that most of us would call improvement either now or in the future will ever be good enough. One of the papers today reminds me that this will be the first time the Geordie public have witnessed their team being promoted in over 45 years. Worth celebrating and worth looking forward to next year....
  3. Pud and Leazes......Caption Competition......
  4. So Mondays going to be the Big Day when promotion is finally sealed in front of a sell out, pissed up, Bank Holiday crowd. The usual suspects are trying to play down promotion and see it pass as a damp squib of an affair, but I hope most of you are really going to embrace this historic occasion and party like theres no tomorrow. This is on all accounts the fastest promotion in the clubs history with a few records broken along the way. This should give us confidence that while we may have lost a few players last year, the team spirit that replaced them has carried us through and we can look forward to the squad only improving next year. I will be working all day Monday, then either glory hunting along to the ground for the big game (pud ) or taking up front row seats at the boozer will several Kronenburgs. It would be nice if the club did something to mark the occasion such as those cow horns or freebie scarfes for the bairns and I also hope the team and Hughton stay on the pitch at the end for a standing ovation. Make no mistake, regardless what Leazes Mag will tell you, this is a great achievement to get straight back up and out of this league. We all had to bear the heartache of relegation, so dont be afraid to party, party, party. (To any toon ultras.....It would also be nice if Mike got a few cheers )
  5. Her latest headline, once again looking at any negative she can take from NUFC. I just wonder if she'll ever write about SAFC? Then again, like all mackems and Geordies, we all share one constant thing, an obsession with Newcastle United. The "reply" comments are quite damning
  6. Conservative Party: 67% Labour Party: 41% Liberal Democrats: 40%
  7. Krull by a country mile. Harper is over the hill and as static as the come.
  8. That's as clear as mud mr fist (and no, I haven't launched wikipedia on the I Phone). I take it I'm right and in particular would have thought all the lefties would have liked to see each household paying it's fair share??
  9. Can't remember too much about this as a newly married 24 year old with a bairn and a mortgage. Wasn't the idea that a house with 5 working adults in should pay more than an identical household with 2 working adults, and if so, what was wrong with that principal. Was it not that Labour councils used the new tax to try and get much more money in than they'd being getting by setting daft bills?
  10. Just watched the second half again and didnt realise just how well routledge played. At one point I thought the TV had jumped onto fast forward....They should rename him Billy Whizz. Its a shame he doesnt have an enrique on his side. A few times he played some lovely thru balls to Simpson but he just didnt have the confidence to run down the wing with it.
  11. I believe MattM4 posted what you are after on page 7 of this thread any ideas how to make this work anyone? When you come to extract this file, do the following 1. Right click the 1st RAR file. 2. Click Extract Files... 3. Tick Keep Broken Files. 4. Click OK. For me it wont play on vlc but will on windows media player. Curry eaten, cans at the ready, wife at the bingo.......bliss
  12. I winnit bother meself I might give it a go......Not going to be deturd Top punnery there CT This thread has just hit the skids. Best nip it now. Punnery!!!! Misses an open goal with Poo'nnery
  13. Have said it before elsewhere, but has anyone at the club actually said we definitely will not pay more than x and not sign anyone under y if so can they linky Personally I dont think that will be a hard and fast rule and if the right player is available outside of those barriers then they will be considered. What seems pretty certain is that we are not going to spend silly amounts for the journeymen.
  14. I winnit bother meself I might give it a go......Not going to be deturd
  15. Seems that one of the files 1, part 4 is corrupt !!!!!! Had about 20 goes at downloading it . If anyone knows of any other sources, please linky.
  16. You think we'll sign no one I really think this is a very hard one to call. Gut instinct tells me that most of them are not good enough, but there has to be something said for a group of players who are used to playing well and winning together along with the team spirit. If pushed I would prefer a new RB (Or as someone said elsewhere, S Taylor there. Im sure he played well at some point there last season with some decent runs down the flank?) Barton will hopefully come good, a replacement for Jonas and a really good No 9
  17. haven't you said we bought well in January ? January was about securing promotion.
  18. None at all but heres a site you may be interested in http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/ I do think its canny daft that people expect you to put money on the table because they cant accept your opinion. "You are wrong and you should either admit it or put money on your opinion". I dont always agree with you but thats a bit stupid. You can even hope ashley will invest enough money over the summer to give us a chance of staying up. It might be a forlorn hope but you're allowed to hope for it. Imo of course. And i am prepared to bet a tenner that this will be proved to be stupid in 5 years time.... when people grow up. I quite often look back at some of my posts and dont agree with myself  But to me I put that down to the Keegan heart on your sleeve mentality. I write the way I feel at that time without worrying about whether Im going to contradict something I said previously. I am also very forgiving and optimistic by nature so these traits no doubt have an effect. I was devestated over Keegan, detest Llambias and see Ashley as being a very silly boy who shouldnt have left the the lunatics in charge of the Asylum. Like most I also had little faith in Hughton but I am genuinely delighted for him (and us) and just wish we could have a nice Disney ending where Mike stays for the long haul and builds us over time into world beaters, led by a new generation of Hughton's entertainers. I appreciate some will never forgive Ashley and others have traits that lead them to assume the worst will happen (understandable after recent years). But I also agree that on an internet forum you should be able to argue the hell out of each others position without resorting to bets or falling out.
